Athesiara smiled at the odd analogy. "The ehlven in your shemlen cities are different. They accepted subjugation, and they suffer their choice. We Dalish are free, but many hold grudges against you shemlen, for your race's crimes against our people. " Athesiara turned to look at Alistair behind her. "But you are not so bad. It has been the folly of my people to judge in ignorance. I'd rather familiarize myself with someone before passing judgement. Besides," she mumbled, kneeling to inspect an oddly-shaped print in the mud, "It would no do to despise a fellow Grey Warden. You Wardens are my last hope."

"Tala." The mage repeated, unmoved by the cold laugh, even though it sent a chill down her spine. Feeling oddly safe, she reached a hand out and touched one of the statues, the stone cold and rough. Walking forwards, her eyes flicked back to Morrigan, still wary of her sudden appearance.

Othelias' rocking came to a hault and turned her gaze on him. Her lips pulled into a smirk, and she let her arms go limp at her sides.
"You really going to do it?" she asked, in a hush voice, licking her bottom lip and raising one eye brow in a mocking gesture. Her heart drummed wildly against her chest, but she was just willing to see how far her would take it.
"Is it really worth killing someone you don't know?" she questioned him quietly.

Alistair payed attention to her words with an eager ear to lend but her last bit caught him off guard as he expected it would to most. "Well, feel free to despise me if any of the fellow Wardens. I don't think I'm what you're looking for in regards to hope. Charming quips and a clever knee slapper every now and again, definitely, but worthy of anybody's hope? No, I just don't see that." He stood back to look at the print from where he stood, crossing his arms and staring up at the sky. He'd never actually thought highly of himself despite the fact regarding his current family situation. In fact, that basically only served to hang over his head as a perpetual drag to his unique personality. Best he not bring that up any time soon to anybody as the fewer who knew the better. It was hardly important, anyhow. King Cailan was doing a fantastic job up on his pedestal. "Now is it just me, or has that mage of ours taken her time? Should we.. um, go see if she isn't dead?"

Othelia leaned her neck back, feeling the cold metal bite at her neck. Her heart rate sped up, her muscles tensing.
Really Othelia, why didn't you pull your sword on him earlier? Oh - because you thought apologizes work on everyone.
Slowly she reached back and grabbed her weapon and flung it to the side, leaving her defenseless.
"What do you want from me then?" she asked, her voice level, and somewhat serious. She raised her hands up a little, giving up on this charade.

Morrigan let the mage, this Tala, approach her. "I am Morrigan." She calmly gestured towards Tala's staff. "Tell me, mage, what is it like growing up imprisoned in your tower for the crime of being gifted?" Morrigan was curious. How much could one possibly learn about the magical arts whilst limited and supervised by those who despised the magical arts? Certainly there had to be avenues of magic that the Tower mages would never be able to explore.

Athesiara shook her head gently at him, but smiling nonetheless, she gestured back the way they had come. "The commander went off the trail a few yards behind. I wonder what path she follows? There was no visible one when I checked." She started back to where she'd noticed the commander's trail splitting off, scouring the way for some sign she might have missed. "When I speak of hope, Warden, I mean that a dark fate awaits me if I fail in joining your ranks. I am tainted with the very poison that runs through the beasts we hunt. Duncan told me that joining the Wardens would be my only hope, as they gain an immunity to the taint."

Tala chuckled softly and shook her head, looking down at the ground.
"Horrible, predictive, boring, " she folded her arms behind her and looked up at Morrigan, "You never learn more than how to light a candle. A blessing that some are even able to under such circumstances." Walking across the clearing, she studied a statue of a woman with a hooded face and sad looking eyes. Softly she added, "A prison, yes, but necessary for some. Others, " Tala looked back at Morrigan, "Not so much. If you know who you are and fear doesn't consume you from that, then you are better off elsewhere." Raising a brow she added, "That is why I choose to leave. I believe there is more of purpose I can have in this world than studying old tomes and make fire all day."
