I laugh, and run up the tree. I'm about to grab onto the branch when my foot slips, and I go tumbling to the ground. I feel my ankle bend underneath me, and shot of pain shoots through my leg. I guess a good metaphor for the feeling of breaking your ankle would be you electrocuted your ankle that's frozen in ice, a feeling of helplessness overrides your brain, and that electrocution feeling? It never leaves. I look up at Nicole. "I'll take the hole."

I swear. "I'm sorry. I really am..." I trail off, and the pain hits me sharp and fresh. I take a sharp breath, and shut my eyes, leaning up against the wall of the hole. "God. Neither of us can go a day without some leg injury, can we?" I try to smile, by I'm pretty sure it turned into a grimace. I look at Nicole for a minute, and think. "Thanks for picking me up."

Chris frowned slightly, looking around from his position in the tree. He needed to stop for the night, as he would never be able to survive without any sleep, but the tree he was currently hiding in was too young to hide and support him for the entire night. He tucked his feet under him, then jumped from the tree, landing with catlike ease. He made sure his bow, quiver, and bag were slung safely across his back, then he broke into a run, searching for a big enough tree. Strangely enough, he could see just as well in the dark as he could during the day. It must have been the mountain lion DNA.
His footfalls were barely audible, even to his sensitive ears. It took him awhile to find a suitable place to sleep, but finally he happened upon a tall, thick tree. His claws dug into the ridges in the bark, and he scaled it quickly, bag swinging. He chose a branch about halfway up the tree, quite far off the ground, and situated himself sitting on the branch and leaning against the trunk. He pulled the rope out of his bag and tethered himself to the tree carefully, then tried his best to fall asleep.

Zorath|District 9|Golden eagle
Zorath followed his lion friend from the skies resting at the very top of the tree chris was now tied to. He wondered what was to happen to them. Would one of them win? Would they try to escape? Only the gamemakers knew that. he settled down using his wings as a blanket and fell into sleep.
"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am?I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
―Cave Johnson

Chris's body was still extremely tense, even as he tried to fall asleep. There was no way he would be able to relax. He was in the middle of the Hunger Games, for god's sake. And as if that wasn't enough, his new sensitive hearing made him extremely alert. Those rustling leaves could easily be a tribute, or a Capitol muttation. That twig that just snapped could have been under the foot of an archer, aiming right for his heart. His breathing was heavy as he looked up and saw a winged creature land in the same tree as him. What the heck was it? His racing heart slowed down again when he saw the glint of golden feathers: it was Zorath. Thank god. He was safe. The thought that someone was up there in the tree watching over him was enough to allow him to slip into sleep's grasp.

I blink drowsily as I feel my shoulder shake. Before I realize what I'm doing, I have a hand twisted at a weird angle. As I gain my total consciousness, I let go immediately. "Oh... Hi." I look away, very ashamed. "Sorry... I thought you were somebody else." I scoot myself our of the hole, and look helplessly down at my leg.
