Noah watched as the rocky waves crashed onto the wooden legs underneath him. His pale cyan eyes could pick up a flicker of color in the murky ocean every once in a while, knowing that it was from one of the many fish that lived in the water. Even though he couldn't see them, Noah knew the seagulls were circling the air above him. Their screeching cries chimed in his ears. His bare legs were dangling off of the rigid edge of the pier. They were swaying ever so slightly. The ripples splashed his legs occasionally, but for the most part, the boy stayed dried. He was thinking about jumping off the ledge, but he just didn't want a peaceful moment like this to pass him by. He was wearing board shorts and a cobalt blue t-shirt. The Vans he wore earlier were laid barren besides the teen along with his grey socks. Leaning back, Noah propped both of his hands behind him to hold himself up. Thankfully, the dock was damp or else it would have burned up in the bright flames that his hands produced. He moved his gaze from the ocean below to the cerulean heavens above.

Cameron sighed. He lightly touched the soft pink petal of a flower, only to see it burst into flames and shrivel up into a black, dead, nothingness. This fire thing could be really cool sometimes - like how he had the ability to change the colour of his flames. Right now, purple flames were dancing on the tips of his fingers as he tapped them in the air as if he were tapping a desk, each finger one by one. But there were so many disadvantages; He couldn't touch anything or anyone, basically. Doctors were perplexed about why this had happened to him, and he himself was mighty confused. He walked along by himself through a field of grass, the only place he could be where lighting everything on fire wasn't that big of a deal - not like in the city, with so many people and buildings and laws against arsony, even if it's by accident and uncontrollable - and drifted into thought.

[Placebo Effect]

Sometimes Alexander just wanted to set everything on fire and have done with it. After all, it would be a lot easier just to do so – he wouldn’t have to constantly worry about burning everything up if it was already on fire. Though, solving a problem by causing a thousand more was not likely to be a good idea.

So he’d found the next best thing – swimming in the ocean wasn’t a place he’d be setting things on fire. He’d always hated swimming, but now he loved it. Diving down to the sandy floor, Alex started kicking up sand to look for shells. He wouldn’t keep the shells; he just wanted to be able to touch something for once.

A pale peach coloured shell balanced in his palm as he swam upwards, breaking the surface with a gasp for air. Even though he could set things on fire simply by touching them, he was only human.

Rose continued along the beach, letting her eyes fall half closed. The breeze ruffled her hair, blowing to the side, and she looked down at her hands in dismay. She watched entranced as dark, almost black flames licked at her hands, running down her fingers as the shifted form the dark color to a lighter blue, the salt from the ocean giving it a greenish hue at the edges. Suddenly she clamped her hands shut, digging her nails into her palm with a sigh. Why? she asked herself. Why even try any longer?
She knelt down in the sand, where the surf was receding, reaching out to pick up a handful of sand. The wet sand was not burnable, bu if she let it sit long enough, she could get it to dry, and then if hot enough, sand turned to glass- right? She wondered if she could do that...

Courtney sighed lightly as she swung her legs to one side of her bed. Feeling especially tired today, she popped her mouth open in a yawn at the same time she propped herself up on one elbow that was balanced on her knee. She glanced moodily at the clock, and then away again, without even looking at the time. Who cares? she asked herself grumpily. With another long-suffering sigh, she moved up out of bed, all ready dressed in a outfit of her usual style of clothing. She dutifully brushed her hair, and then, once she realized that her stubborn curls wouldn't cooperate, she slammed the brush down and went out of her room in a thoroughly bad mood. It was a specially manufactured brush that wouldn't shrivel into flames at her touch, as it was made of highly fire resistant material, which was great at some times - but at others, like today, when she felt like burning it, it wasn't so awesome. Shoving her hands deep in her pockets, she began the long walk down to the beach, kicking at rocks and diminutive pebbles along the way. By the time she grew near enough to see each individual sand dune, she had calmed down, but she was still irked.

As she continued along idly, she saw another girl sitting down on the sand. Dawdling near the water, she hesitated, debating whether to go over or not. Her internal argument went something like this: You should go! You need new friends! And then her more independent side replied... So I have no friends. Who said I want some? And then the opposition responded with a exasperated huff, Just go say hi. It can't do you any harm. And so the answer came... Yes it could! It could make me look foolish! And I hate looking foolish! Courtney brushed away her thoughts impatiently as she turned to examine the girl even further, study her to see if she looked worth her time. At long last, she decided not to go over, but just wait gloomily for adventure to come find her.

(By the way, this is only because loki isn't online and I don't want her/him mad at me. c;)

JJ lay on the beach, his Big Bang Theory t-shirt rolled up to reveal his stomach as he continued to lay on the sandy shore. His dark auburn hair was swept with small sand particles and his distinctly almond shaped eyes were closed, hiding his cerulean oculars from view. He was wearing his contacts which made them especially shiny today. As he hid his eyes from the piercing rays of the sun, he continued to snap his fingers together, allowing a flame to ignite then extinguish.

Without warning, he sat up and began to strip himself of his clothing. First his shirt and then his pants, kicking of his shoes before his jeans. He laughed softly and climbed to his now bare feet, running for the ocean and diving in. Although his flaming abilities wouldn't work for quite some time after this swim, he could do with a cooling down.

((wanted to get my post up today but I've been on a cellphone all day D;))

[Placebo Effect]

His eyes closed slightly as he broke the surface, so he didn't noticed that he'd swum up near someone else (JJ). Perhaps staying under the water for that long wasn't a good idea, he'd stayed in the crystal depths until he felt his lungs burn and now he was gasping for breath as if his life would depend on it - which it would.

As he began to relax, taking deeper breathes and calming his panicked movements to stay at the surface, he looked around to actually find himself face to face with JJ, and he swum backwards out of thier way. "Sorry." In truth, Alex was a pretty bad swimmer, he was only swimming about so he'd have a short period of time where he wouldn't be able to set things on fire.

As he continued to pull oxygen into his starved lungs, he realised how pathetic he must look, "We're pretending I've got more than my five meters swimming badge and didn't just make a total fool of myself... I'm Alexander- just call me Alex though."

JJ emerged from the depths of the water, his slick and wet body breaking the surface of the ocean. He snapped his thumb and middle finger together as if expecting a flame to produce, but seeing none, he smiled. He was absolutely content with what he did, extinguishing his flames until he was completely dry. Suddenly, he leaped backwards from Alexander, almost plunging back into the water, but he stopped himself. JJ allowed a soft laugh to curl from his vocal chords and permeate the air. "It's quite alright." He cooed softly before running a hand through his hair. He chuckled again at Alexander's witty comment about his fail at swimming before holding out his hand for him to shake. "I'm JJ. Nice to meet you."
