They passed through the outer palace gate without any trouble, but at the one at the private wall they were stopped. It seemed only those who lived or worked in the palace were permitted past this point for the most part, and it took Bandit speaking up with some story about having been a slave and wanting to meet his Kings and Queens for them to get in. They were escorted a little further but then halted, however this time Ravenbir was on the ground; he'd given in to his curiosity of the place and was sniffing the air.
Suddenly, he scampered off without warning, having spotted something intriguing and oh so irresistably shiny! "What is it?!" he chittered to himself with excitement and anticipation. He ran head-on into someone that'd stepped right into his path from seemingly nowhere, taking a tumble and rolling to his clawed little paws again. When they eyed him sternly and his presence with suspicion, he squeaked and took off running further inside. "Not supposed to be here, trespass!" he chattered to himself worredly. "So pretty, so big," were the words from the young raccoon as he ventured deeper into the palace, and then he found himself heading in a particular direction, though why he could not say. Into a great receiving room with grand thrones he went, then found himself frozen with awe, in the direct gaze of a magnificent lion, next to a boy he didn't even notice, so radiant was the lion.
"That stupid raccoon," Bandit grumbled upon noticing Ravenbir's absence.
"Wait, where'd he go?" Colerain asked, the initial hint of surprise turning into irritation. Just leave it to the raccoon to get them into trouble and blow their chances of earning some money..
"Why don't we just go find him? He probably found a helmet or shiny piece of glass to stare at for hours.." Rie said with a derisive snort.
"Hold on," Colerain commanded Rie, as they finished passing some guards. Senna had been taken by someone, as it wouldn't do to have a regular horse in the palace, but Bandit remained with the two humans, though he looked out of place with the tack and belongings on his back. He looked like a regular horse, and it irritated him that he was even bothered by this. Since when did he care what people thought? Still, he wasn't usually surrounded by other free Narnians; it was quite unbecoming for a Talking Beast to be ridden, except in time of war.
