The redhead almost jumped a bit when the black haired woman spoke. She'd been staring at the water, because that's where it had to be. Yes, she'd heard Buggy speaking about the anomaly too. "It has to be in the water, whatever it is." Which made sense, as neither of them had seen something clinging to the side of the ship. "There's nothing stuck to the side of the ship. It's not...did he see a sea monster?" she asked. She then thought of fish men a moment...but would they be so close to a ship? She said "He couldn't have seen a fish men, could he? I...maybe," she muttered, then shook her head.

The gray eyed black haired male made a small sound. He felt the need to try and calm his husband, but he was given an order. He saluted his husband, since it was the right thing to do. "Yes Co- fleet admiral," he said. He nodded to An, then hurried off. He found Tashigi first (in the library?) and called "Tashigi! Ma'am! Coby told me to gather as many marines as I can. Do you...happen to know where Shawn might be?" he asked. He remembered Shawn was here too.

He observed this as he approached, with Meppo as usual (An is). An quickly kissed Meppo's cheek before the blonde went. He then turned to Coby, and tilted his head. He kind of wanted to make a joke, but held himself back. He nodded to the other male, saying "Yes, fleet admiral, what do you need to tell me?"

The Jaguar cub was running along the street outside. He had taken to doing this now, as it got rid of some of the energy. It seemed to be fun, maybe, but that might not be it. Plus, he could catch people easier this way. Get them to come into the store, or talk to him. When he heard Averill call for him, he turned and ran in. "What...what is it?" he asked, closing the door too just in case.

Averill pulled Yulien close, locking the window and door. "You may not have noticed, but there are Fishmen here. They can be dangerous. Especially given many of them are armed, I don’t think they’re here to party and have a good time. If they came here intending harm, I don’t want you to get hurt. The last time there was big action, we lost Sulia. I will NOT lose you too." Regardless of how it had started, he had connected with the cub. This cub was HIS. His charge, his adopted child, and he would protect Yulien to the last breath if need be.

Then she perked up, glancing over her shoulder at her companion. She made a good point. "Fishmen? So close to surface? Usually they live on Fishman Island, ten thousand metres under the surface." However, when the water broke in the distance, Jessabel was right, and even Alvida, the master of denying things, couldn’t find another explanation. "Well I’ll be…what do you think that’s all about?"

Tashigi saluted as the man approached. "He was headed towards the mess hall for lunch last I saw him. Hasn’t been doing much recently, not at his rank and with his experience." Tashigi felt a little bad about it. When she had been Captain, Shawn has been in her division, so technically, the fact he was in a tricky spot was her fault. "Why? What’s going on? I see people rushing around, but nothing on the schedule suggests a big assignment or anything."

I really do think we're at a high risk of an invasion. I need all hands on deck, that means doubling patrols, No assignments far from home until we know the situation, no solo assignments, and-"

Coby cut himself off at a commotion by the harbour not far off. He stared out the window in shock, then cursed under his breath. "Well…uh…I think we know what’s going on. I thought we’d have more time to prepare, I acted too late," he realized, but he was trying, he really was. "Anya, I need you to check the schedule and use the transponder to call on anyone who's away from the base. We need them back, and we need them back now."

The gray eyed black haired male made a small sound. He said "I...Coby was in a panic, basically, when he came out of his office. He just told me to gather as many as possible. I don't know if he wants you to stay with me, or go to him. He's still over there, but he's talking to An right now. I'll go look for Shawn in the mess hall, you can... decide if you want to come with me or go find him." He waited for her to wave him off or tell him she would go with him. He didn't want to be rude and just walk away.

The silly sweet but stubborn and fiery one tilted his head. He made another small sound at what the pink haired male said. "A...letter?" he asked, then Coby continued on. He nodded to the rest of what he said, now a bit worried himself. An invasion was nothing to wave away. An invasion could be really bad news for them all, since people might be taken. He quickly nodded, still not correcting Coby. "I'll go do that now," he said, and headed off once Coby let him.

The Jaguar cub didn't fight as he was grabbed by the black panther male. His ears went back and tail flicked wildly a bit. He made a small sound as Sulia was mentioned...He then nodded and said "I...I'm a good kid; I won't go outside," he said. He shook his head a couple times, then stopped himself. He looked up at the other male, and offered a smile. It was a small smile, but he was trying here. He said "We'll stay in the house together, and stay safe together."

Adrian walked out at the sound of Micah’s warning. He scanned the horizon, but his eyes were far from being as good as Micah’s were. Adrian sure hoped nothing bad would come of this. The entire crew had been through enough drama in the past few years and they didn’t need more of it. He walked over to Akirra and said looking over to his boyfriend, “Hope nothing bad comes of this. I mean we have been through enough drama in the past few years. We’ve lost some people and I don’t know how much more of this I can take Akirra.” He looked over to him and said with a small smile, “Your one of the only things keeping me going Akirra.” He smiled and planted a small little kiss on his boyfriend’s cheek. He said, “Thank you Akirra for saying yes that one day.”

Chase heard the warning and he looked over to Gabe who was one hte railing looking at them. For an instance he could see a glimmer of terror in his eyes. The usual playfulness and childlike expressions the young kid had made had appeared to gone for the time being. He narrowed his eyes and then muttered under his breath, “This can’t be good, not at all.” The mink had a Beri above his head and if they were after people with Beri’s he was in danger. He looked around to find Adrian, but he was with his boyfriend. He wouldn’t bother the pair right now. His task was to get the children to safety. He walked over to Gabe and grabbed the young male’s hand and said, “Come on, let’s get you to safety in case this is bad news.”

Gabriel walked onto the main deck, the usual playfulness In his eyes. As he heard Micah say something about people, he walked to the railing and placed his small hands on the railing. He murmured to himself, “I hope nothing bad happens.” The Calm Belt crew had been through a lot of events in the past few years. They had lost and some were tragic. People are already never the same from those events. Could this crew take more disputes and bad things. He looked up to Chase he grabbed his hand and he obeyed walking next to Chase.

Luka sat more upright as Micah proclaimed something about the Fishmen. He narrowed his eyes and he said softly to himself, “This is bad. We have to steer clear of them or else everything we have worked so hard to gain in these past few years will be gone. Humans and Fishmen do NOT interact well.” He looked around seeing if Kassandra was anywhere. They had to get as far as possible away from the Fishmen as possible to avoid having any sort of interaction with them. Who knows what an interaction with them could be. He wanted desperately for there to be no conflict or interaction, but unfortunately if they were close enough one of those things couldn’t be possible to avoid. He wasn’t sure if he should go up to the bird’s nest. He was technically a lookout after all now, but then again, maybe he should stay on the main deck. Micah had gotten a bracelet and it left her so tired and exhausted. Luka had been there to help her along the way and he wished it wouldn’t leave her so tired, but he got the normal Micah back beside him again. He could hug her normally, kiss her cheek and not have to wear anything on his hands and avoid touching her skin. The first thing he did when she had received it was hug her. It had been so long where he could just hug her normally.

Melody rushed out and she said with a whistle at the beginning, “Sheesh can we never get a break from action.” She looked around and growled under her breath, “Seems like we can not.” It had appeared that these...things had not yet seen them maybe and there was one standing in front of all the others. She sure hoped they could avoid this fight and everything would be resolved soon. Well maybe there will be no fight. Maybe your just overreacting. Melody wanted to tell herself this, but she knew deep down that whatever those things were, they were bad news, very much bad bad news.

It had been a few days since her fight with Orekani and her defeat. Everything she had worked so hard for had been taken away from her by a...a...a FORMER PIRATE! These past few days had been bitter to the core and she could not think of a good reason to even understand her defeat. He was just better than her! NO! She thought in her head, he is not better than me. He may have won this time, but just you wait, he’ll mess up at some point. She couldn’t even begin to explain her hatred towards Orekani. The one thing she had always dreamed of since joining the Marines was to one day be Fleet Admiral and everything she had worked so hard on and for was wasted and who was on the place she was meant to be on, Coby. She knew of him and his husband, Lucian and there daughter, Georgia. She couldn’t help but despise Lucian being that he was so close to Orekani. Sure was she being a bit immature for despising Lucian, yes, but was she going to just sit around and say things like oh Lucian your husband is such a great person he beat me and I should respect someone who is lower than me like you, never in a million years would she say those things. She would honestly be disgusted in herself if she did. She also despised Helmeppo and Anya for being so close to Orekani as well. She couldn’t help that this was her personality and all she could do was despise these three she thought about.

How could she have lost the fight. I mean she had worked so hard for this and everything to be wasted on this. She hadn’t even reached her goal and she had said she would to Kitchi. Oh gosh, what did Kitchi really think of her now. It’s all Coby’s fault that I’m doubting myself now she thought bitterly. Everything is his fault. He doesn’t even deserve to be in the Marines and neither does Helmeppo. Coby was a pirate for heaven’s sake before he joined a little worker for Alvida’s crew and she LOST to him! It was unacceptable and Helmeppo left them in the middle of a war three years ago and yet was still let back into the Marines. Coby gets everything he wants in life and where am I, back to right where I started, him bossing me AGAIN! Coby was really the whole Fleet Admiral of the Marines, but it was herself who was better at making people work with each other and keeping people in line. Another reason why Coby shouldn’t be Fleet Admiral, he is someone who can’t even make a group work together and can’t even keep them in line and he thinks he’ll make a good Fleet Admiral she thought bitterly. Now would she say these things out loud of how he was going to be a terrible Fleet Admiral, no that would get her good as gone out of the Marines, but she would think them as she is using statistics and the track record they have.

Kirsten stood up and paced around in her room. I mean let’s break it down why you lost the fight. I mean come on there’s an obvious answer to one of your thoughts about how you lost, Coby trained underneath Vice Admiral Garp so he easily had an advantage over her, but that still didn’t add up. That one very reason couldn’t have been the only reason why. I mean he had more to fight for, his husband, daughter, and whatever Anya and Helmeppo were to him. She didn’t understand that though. She had her history to forget and do something with her life to prove people wrong and she had Kitchi in her mind. She had come from a family with her brother, Luka, and in the end a younger brother that she barely knew. People made fun of her for being weaker and so it turned her bitter. She resented those people and eventually couldn’t take it. She ran away to live alone for a week and when she came home, people still made fun of her even if she grew stronger and more bitter towards them. She couldn’t take it and snapped one day. She emotionally was terrible and she went with her family to move away. From there she was bitter and decided to join the Marines after a fight with Luka. Since then she has despised Luka and wanted nothing to do with him. I mean that wasn’t her whole history, but the gist of it.

She heard a familiar voice and she turned to see her rather awkwardly saluted boyfriend standing there. She cracked a small smile and thought to herself, ah Kitchi is just to cute! She narrowed her eyes slightly and said, “A note in a bottle?” She gently took it from her boyfriend’s hand and said, “Hm... this is rather odd.” She took the note out of the bottle and she read it, “It’s been a while since we’ve seen the surface. Try to fight back, and you’ll have your war. We’re here for one thing alone, and we will have it. Take caution, these people aren’t petty peasants, we can match you blow for blow if you resist. We’re coming, you have the day to clear out, or be ready to fight.” She widened her eyes reading the words once again. She looked to Kitchi and said, “Commander it appears we might be on the brink of war. This letter is stating that if we resist and fight back, there will be war. Without a signature we have no means of contact. Whoever this is and there army they are smart. We have no means of knowing who this is which is another troubling factor into this. These people this mysterious writer is talking are strong. We have no time to waste. Did Fleet Admiral...” She paused forcing the words out of Fleet Admiral out of her mouth. That should have been mine she thought. She continued, “Did Fleet Admiral want me to come to him? This situation could be very bad if we don’t come up with a game plan.”


TEMPORARY CHARACTER FOR UPCOMING PLOT EVENT:
Bolt/male/Fishmen for Dellinger’s Army Leader/Location: Ocean to Mainland/20 years old/He is a stingray Fishmen type with some of his stingray attributes showing (tail)/Tags: Dellinger
Bolt bounded after Dellinger and could feel every molecule of his body tingling with anticipation and excitement. Today they would make there move and show just how strong they are. He smiled as his leader talked about the purpose behind the letters and how they couldn’t handle all the awesomeness in one place. He pumped his fist in the air and chirped his eyes shining, “Our brave and fearless leader is to smart for these humans. We will crush them and no one can stop how awesome we truly are.” He smiled and looked to the blonde haired 19 year old. They would crush them and show them just how strong this army really was. Were they being led by a 19 year old, yes, but did Bolt care, no! He quickly walked over to the leader approaching him and said dipping his head in respect to his leader, “Anything I can do to help create this attack to be even more successful Dellinger sir?” This was his one chance to prove to his leader that he was the best they had, besides the leader himself of course. No one could ever take his leader’s place. The young muted aqua colored stingray Fishman had been assigned to the attack team. He admired Dellinger who his whole heart and strived to be just as strong and awesome as he was one day.

Averill nodded tensely. He certainly hadn’t intended or wanted to upset the youngster, and perhaps it had been unnecessary, thinking about it, but he had panicked in the moment. Sometimes children didn’t listen, and he knew in general, Yulien was a good kid, but he worried. If Fishmen had come to invade, there was high risk wherever they went. "Good. I just want the best for you, whatever that is."

Alvida wanted to say it was none of their business, but it very well could be, especially if they intended to target big names, what with her having a bounty, and sailing with a former Warlord. "Well I’ll be. For once Buggy wasn’t just talking nonsense," she murmured. "We'll keep a close eye, I hope they’ll leave us alone, but we may have to be prepared for a fight." Alvida was lucky. Many weapons would simply glance right off her skin, but not everyone had that advantage.

Coby leaned forward to kiss An's cheek. "Okay, thank you. I love you." The words slipped out before he could stop them. Sure, it had been a couple years now, but he’d never said it before, not out loud. Not to Anya. A faint blush tinted his cheeks, and he wiped it away. "Be careful, whatever you do. I’m going to contact Admiral Kurataka in the meantime. Hopefully I don’t die." Sure, he was the Fleet Admiral, but good lord, he was still absolutely TERRIFIED of his subordinate.

Micah wasn’t the lookout for no reason. Her eyes were sharp, her focus unrivalled when it came to her kind of work. She had more than once been able to catch sight of a threat well before anyone else could even suspect. She narrowed her eyes, coming down from the crow's nest to stand next to Luka. She took his hand and laced their fingers together, revelling in the fact that she was able to now without causing him any harm. "I don’t like it either. Dellinger had never been one to…fish for praise, in a manner of speaking, but he certainly wasn’t about to reject it when it was offered either. He set a hand on his hip, a grin on his face. "Well fishmen ARE a superior race. By comparison, humans are unintelligent little fools! That’s exactly why they haven’t got a hope of victory against our kind. They’ve been the dominant species too long. We can’t take over entirely with an army this small, but we can start by…removing some of the Devilfruit users, turning in some bounties, get the money to make our lives better, or reinforce the army so one day we CAN come to the surface long term. As someone exactly half human, maybe I’m the fool for talking like that, but who cares!"

Dellinger had always lived by one opinion; The strong needed no honour. That meant in this case, he could fight dirty. He didn’t need to be fair. Underhanded tricks and mockery were very much in play with him. "Bolt, my friend, be a dear, go ahead of me and scout, will you? Make sure the path is clear for us? I’m too short, I can’t see around most of the people!" Dellinger pointed out. Standing at an abnormally short height of 4'9, there wasn’t a lot Dellinger could do as far as scouting.

Kitchi watched anxiously as Kirsten silently paced, looking angrier and angrier by the second, face hiding nothing now that she didn’t have to be in front her troops. He understood the frustration. She’d worked for this for a long time, probably far longer than Coby ever had, and yet, the way things had turned out CERTAINLY hadn’t been how she had hoped. "Admiral? Are you okay?" His voice was small, almost hesitant. He knew she loved him, and vice versa, but it didn’t make him any less nervous about disturbing her when she seemed so close to a rage. Yet that tiny smile that formed on her face soothed him. Just a little.

"War? That’s not what we need right now! We're under new leadership, we're still recovering from some losses, and we…we definitely were NOT prepared for this!" Kitchi yelped, eyes widening. He took a deep but shaky breath. "Okay okay okay okay. Um…I have no idea what exactly he wanted you to do with the information. He wanted to make sure you as one of our leaders were in the loop. In the meantime…maybe Ensign Helmeppo could give you a better idea." He nodded towards where Helmeppo, unaddressed despite the fact he had spoken, stood in the doorway, saluting, watching them.

Azara had been leaning on the rail of the storm chaser when he heard Micah's announcement, he'd already spotted some sort of conflict upon shore but the confirmation from their lookout only made the issue even more pressing in his mind. He had to admit to having a good amount of morbid curiosity in regards to what is going on, but he knew that whatever the cause might be for this conflict, it had nothing to do with them, and avoiding it at all costs was likely their best bet. As an informant, Azara was quite skilled at sticking his nose in business that he didn't belong in without being seen or dragged into the heat of the conflict, but as much as he loved the calm belt crew, he had little to no faith that they could pull such a feat off successfully.

Draco's eyes squinted under the bright rays of the midday sun. Upon hearing Micah's announcement he looked through his binoculars, sneering at the sight of what appeared to be a whole army of fishmen advancing on the island before them largely inhabited by humans. "Heh, good." He remarked snarkily. He didn't know too much about the political dynamic between fishmen and humans, aside from humans notoriously treating the former like garbage, in which case they most certainly deserved what was coming to them. 'Course Draco wanted nothing to do with the conflict but he took pleasure in the large marine presence on the island, hoping those government dogs would get absolutely destroyed.

Buck had spent the last few days assisting Law in his research on this strange heart condition. They'd pretty conclusively determined that it wasn't contagious, so the rest of the crew could finally be released from quarantine. Despite this, they still had no idea what might be causing such a strange phenomenon. Buck had to admit that he wasn't all that worried, he had his fair share of heart issues due to his abnormally strong electro, and in comparison, this hardly seemed like a cause for concern, just mildly unusual. He hadn't voiced that thought, however, because it was blatantly obvious how much this was stressing Law out, and Law was never wrong. Buck crouched beside the doctor's seat, rubbing the man's back in soothing circles. "You've done great captain, you're the best doctor the world has to offer, if it's not something you can figure out, then I'm sure it's not something to be worried about," Buck reassured softly, wrapping an arm around Law to pull him into a gentle embrace and planting a light kiss atop his head.

The gentle rubbing and the soft kiss were soothing, but there was still that little flicker of unease lingering in his mind.

"Well…" Averill wished he had the answer. Sulia had been lucky enough to have had the chance to be a real parent. She had known what to do. Averill was an acting guardian now, but that didn’t always mean he had the answers, as much as he tried to pretend, for Yulien's sake. "I’m not sure. Is there something in specific she’d have you do that caught your attention and engaged you?" He asked. If so, they could do it. If not, he would think, desperately scramble to try and figure something out. And he’d always try, forever, that was what he had promised them both when he had taken on the official guardianships duties, but that didn’t make it easy.

I'll never be as good at this as Sulia was. I know that if she’d come out of her Sulong form and been able to see the damage she’d done though…she’d never forgive herself. At least she died not hating herself. Sulia… He stared idly out the window, remembering that less than two years ago,he had walked those same streets with her, gone down the road to the restaurant to have dinner, or met at the tavern. I miss you.

Alvida snorted back a laugh, covering her mouth with a hand to try and hide it, a smirk written on her face behind it. She knew it was impolite to bully her coworkers, but it had happened to her to, and really! Surprisingly, Alvida cared about her fellow captain, she did, even if it was hard to believe that Alvida of all people could care for anyone but herself genuinely, however, she couldn’t help but find amusement at the— sadly accurate— little jab towards her counterpart. She straightened, setting her hands on her hips.

"He didn’t send us to that battle. We just had the misfortune of finding it. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he had known, he would have sent backup." After all, it made no sense he would leave her to fight. Sure, she was strong enough to use her mace with ease, but she wasn’t exactly a primed fighter. Her Devilfruit was weak in combat. All it gave her was defence. And made the excess weight drop off, but she wouldn’t be gaining that back. "I just don’t want to lose anyone if something goes wrong."

The gray eyed black haired male said "We don't really know what's going on, but Coby seemed a bit panicked. He calmed down when he addressed me. Something made him unhappy, though. He told me to gather as many marines as possible. I...don't actually know where he wants us. He just told me to gather as many of you as are in the base, and not outside it." In fact, he'd told a few on the way to the mess hall. Those ones were hesitating in the doorway, apparently deciding to follow him.
