Simon mimicked Alex in getting out of the car. He looked up at his friend to respond, "Well it's suppose to be some sort of high-class restaurant and bar combo. So we'll see." He shrugged slightly as he walked around the car to stand next to his friend. "Anyway, even at "low-class" restaurants waiters still wear a shirt and tie, so you're pretty much all good," he finished smiling, before heading towards the entrance to who-knows-what-it-actually-is. He chuckled slightly to himself before pausing at the door and taking a deep breath.

Jane had strode in purposely heading for the bar area. She was more in need of a drink than some food at this point. She sat down on a cushy stool and placed her bag on her lap. She sighed, pulling out her mobile to look at the time. She was early as always, it was still two minutes before most of the place's perks opened up. Like the music and the bar. She put her phone away, and began to tap on the counter she was seated at with thinly veiled impatience.

Alex shrugged slightly. "We're actually on time." He said, slightly surprised. He didn't pause at the door, walking straight in and was greeted by the manager. He was pointed straight to the bar so off he went but not before wishing Simon good luck on the stage. He walked through a door, his hand ruffling up his own hair. He was already dreading it but knew he needed the money. Alex ended up behind the bar and looked up at the clock. He was surprised to see a customer there already, considering the bar had only just opened. "How can I help?" He asked, grinning as a memory flooded his mind. "Hey, Jane." He greeted, glad to see a familiar face.

Jane stopped tapping her fingers, a little surprise. "Hey Alex, where's that other bartender who used to work here?" she asked, only slightly curious. "Anyway," she said quickly continuing, "Before you do anything, you can help me by grabbing a beer for me." She finished, flashing a brilliant smile in Alex's direction.

Simon waved at his friend before trudging up to the stage. He got to the front and sat down on the chair that had been provided for him. Sweat was starting to form on his temples as he gazed about at the very small crowd that arrived this early. First days of performances were always nerve-wracking. He looked down at his guitar strings and began to strum a soft light melody. The manager had told him only "mood" music, so that's what he would play.

Alex shrugged, not having a clue who she was talking about. He picked up a glass, filling it with beer quickly before giving it to her. This wasn't his first bar working job but he had only worked at the other one for about two months. He had picked up the basics though. "Maybe they'll come in later. Or maybe they've quit or something." He looked up, hearing the faint sound of a guitar and smiled slightly, turning his attention back to Jane.

Jane turned slightly to follow where Alex's eyes were watching. She smiled a little as she saw it was only Simon. "So you both got jobs here then?" she asked, turning back to face Alex. "You two must be good if you could manage that on your first day here," she complimented. She downed a gulp of beer before slamming the glass onto the counter. "That's what I needed," she stated simply.

Alex smiled slightly. "This isn't my first bar job, to tell the truth." He said, grinning. "Simon's just good." He shrugged, glancing at the stage again. "So... Am I going to be seeing you often or is this a more of a once in a lifetime thing?" He asked, grinning at her. He served another customer quickly with a friendly smile and a little small talk before returning to Jane for her answer.

Jane laid one finger on pursed lips as if she was thinking about it. "Well let's see," she began, resting her hands elegantly on the counter before her. "Since I deliver mail and newspapers for your neighbourhood and this place is my favorite night time hang out, I think we'll be seeing a lot of each other." She paused, looking at him through long, dark eye lashes. "But don't worry, I'll try not to stalk you when you're sleeping," she teased. She looked at him once more with a calculating gaze before downing her drink in one. "I think I'll have a refill if you don't mind."

"Great. More stalling." Alex teased, sighing dramatically before he chuckled softly. "What do you mean 'try'?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at Jane. He picked up her glass and refilling it for her. He grinned at her as he put it back down in front of her, the cool glass printed with his fingers. "How busy is it likely to get then?" He asked her before making a customer a drink accompanied with a smile. As lazy as Alex was, he did enjoy his job at a bar. It gave him a good excuse for socialising and talking.

Jane thought for a moment, tapping her glass with an index finger. "Well around six or seven is when most people come for dinner, and then about nine or ten is when the "drinkers" show up," she replied. She giggled slightly, "I guess I'm just an early bird when it comes to enjoying myself." She glanced over at Simon as he changed songs and waved briefly as he looked up. She turned back to Alex with a frown on her face, "What's with you friend? He looks like he's seen a ghost."

Simon was losing it. If it weren't for his abilities with the guitar he would have messed up a dozen times already. His mind kept drifting to the girl. Focus! he told himself as he had a momentary pause between songs. He glanced up and saw that girl Alex had made friends with at the bar. He smiled briefly before looking down once more and trying to pick up the pace of his next song.

"Good to know..." Alex said, glancing up at the clock. He looked up at Simon and shrugged. "I think it's a mix between the fact that he hit his head and nerves." He explained. "He was up in the attic for some reason and some boxes fell. I think he was looking at all the old stuff up there and the boxes toppled when he tried to look in them." Alex actually had no idea what really happened so this was just a theory.
