Freak watched out the door as Aasiyah gave the daily mood report. "Hmm," he said, eyes scanning his creatures. Aasiyah's gift was very helpful. If he worked her hard enough, then one day, maybe she could read minds instead of just feeling them. That would be very useful. Then, she could inform him of plots to destroy him. But it was more likely that, even if she got to that point, she wouldn't tell him about it. Even if she didn't see him as a total monster, she still wanted to get out like everyone else. Freak didn't blame her. There were times when he wanted to escape, too.
Freak watched Daniel as he lit his old pair of clothes on fire. "Doesn't look like he's sleeping anymore," he said softly, more to himself than to Aasiyah. "That could be dangerous." Freak knew Daniel well enough to understand that he could control the fire just fine. It was the thought of him not wanting to control it that scared him.
Although Aasiyah knew nothing of his gift, Freak figured it wouldn't be bad to use it around her. If he did, she probably wouldn't think it was his gift. It was more likely for her to ignore it, or come up with a different cause for the moving object. Freak concentrated on the kitchen sink and watched as water slowly began to pour out of it. "Put a bucket under that, will you?" he said to Aasiyah, gesturing to the sink. He then began to walk out the door.
"Careful with that," he said, his feet haulting when he arrived at Daniel's cage. "We wouldn't want to have an accident--." He was cut off by Danika, who let out a long, horiffic howl. He glanced over at her cage. "Shh, Danika," he said soothingly, taking a few steps in her direction. "Quiet now. You're alright." This one was a bit fiesty. He had to watch out for her.
