Character's full name: Astrid Marie Kingston
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Birthday: January 25th
Country: America, doesn't have an accent.
House: Gryffindor
Wand: 11 and half inch, rosewood, threstral tail hair core
Appearance: Astrid is athletically built, though a little slender. She is around 5'6", and weighs about 106 pounds. She has a smooth face, with clear, peach colored skin. Her almond shaped eyes are a beautiful hazel, that sometimes change color to a pretty greenish blue color. She has white-blonde hair, her hairstyle a little unsual. She has her hair kept in very short, fluffy spikes on the left side on her head, the right side, her hair is a little longer, and it is combed over and shaped into one large spike pointing diagonally down. The only make-up she wears is heavy mascara, making her eyes stand out.
Personality: Astrid is pretty tough, and insults from others never make her upset, though she can be provoked easily. She can be pretty intimidating when she gets angered, and this is why no one really likes to get to her bad side. If your her friend, she'll be pretty much the life of the party. She loves to crack jokes, pull pranks, and rant on people with her friends. Astrid can also be pretty loud, and sometimes her big mouth can get her into trouble. Whenever she does something for fun that could get her into trouble, she'll know when to toe the line, and she doesn't get caught that often. She is very outspoken and opinionated, and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. She's a real go-getter.
History: Astrid was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 25th in a crummy little apartment. The night she was born on was a terrible one, an extremely strong rainstorm blowing outside, with deadly winds threatening to turn into tornadoes. At the time, not many wizards or witches lived in Michigan, and Astrid was really considered an outcast growing up. She didn't know about wizards, witches, or anything else of the magical world, and she didn't know what to think of herself as other than a freak. The only thing Astrid loved was her mother, Marie. Astrid absolutely adored Marie, because Marie was the only one who loved Astrid for who she was. Astrid was always found spending as much time with her as possible, following her around everywhere she went. Until on September 4th, eight years after Astrid was born, Marie left for a business trip in New Jersey. Marie traveled by train, but after about 30 minutes on the train, it went off the tracks, crashed into a warehouse, and everyone aboard was killed immediately. Astrid was devastated by her mothers death. She cried for weeks and weeks, refusing to eat, sleep or even leave her room. Now her father, Dean Kingston, was not the friendliest father in the world. He was always suspicious of Astrid's behavior and actions, seeing that she was different than most people. He was the type of man who wanted a well behaved, disciplined daughter. Now naturally, he was upset of Marie's death as well, but he got over it within a few days. He shortly became annoyed of Astrid's depression, and treated her badly. He refused to comfort her, telling her to toughen up, and rarely ever talked to her. Astrid finally got over her mother's death, but never has been really happy since, and her father never changed his gruff behavior. A couple years passed by for Astrid, now reaching the age of ten, she realized that Dean was an unfit father. Over the years, dean tried to please and comfort himself with alcohol, only making life terrible for Astrid. He became abusive, giving Astrid beatings for the smallest faults such as speaking when not spoken to, being untidy, and sometimes, for just no apparent reason at all. Astrid thought better of this, and packed her bags, leaving the dirty little apartment, setting herself free. Astrid lived for around 3 months on the streets, nicking necessities such as food out of garbage bins and begging on the streets. However, on her 11th birthday, Astrid received the invitation letter from Hogwarts. Astrid was extremely excited to get invited into a school, especially a magic one. The only problem was, she had no idea how to get to the station in London from Detroit, and where in the world she would get a magic wand or any other school supplies. Then she saw a funny looking fellow pass by her a few days later, wearing a cloak and, Astrid saw, a glimpse of something looking like a wand in his pocket. What other choice did Astrid have than to ask this man about Hogwarts? She quickly ran up to him and asked him if he was a wizard. Not surprisingly, he was, and Astrid asked him to help get her to London. The man kindly obliged, and gave her his name, Lance Chaffin. He showed her to an airport into London. He traveled with her, and, on the way, becoming good friends, he taught her all about the magical world, Quidditch (which Astrid was particularly interested in), and Hogwarts. When they arrived in London, Lance took Astrid to Diagon Alley, buying her all of her school supplies and a beautiful long-eared owl, which she named Calliope. He also gave her a ticket to King's Cross Station. Astrid thanked him so many times, as well as offering to pay the man back for all he had done. Lance accepted no money from her, and said it was all his pleasure to help out a little witch. Astrid sadly had to say goodbye to this fellow she had become good friends with, and he offered to let her stay at his home during the summer holidays. Astrid, now overjoyed, accepted the offer, and went off to Hogwarts. Astrid quickly made friends at Hogwarts over the years there, along with getting into a lot of mischief and trouble, but Hogwarts, she considers, will always be her home.
