[[Rules were made to be b r o k e n.]]
May woke up with a sudden start as ice cold water was splashed onto her face. Her temper began to rise ever so slightly when she realized who had woken her from her rather pleasant sleep; her twin Lucas. Her brownish green eyes glanced up to see her older brother smiling at her, in an impish kind of a way. "Lucas! Why did you just have to pour water on me?" She groggily whined at him. His smile grew to a grin and chuckled at May. "Well don't you remember May? Today we're getting our Pokemon." He explained casually. "Now hurry on little sister, we're already late because of you." Her eyes narrowed as he said that, she absolutely hated it when he called her "little sister". "Hey, I'm only younger than you by five minutes!" She snapped. He left her room laughing to himself as she ran to the closet to choose her outfit. She hastily threw on her usual dusty purple tank top and periwinkle shorts and ran in a blur to finish getting ready. She certainly didn't want to be too late to get her Pokemon.
May slouched in front of the table, shoving her breakfast as fast as she could into her mouth. Her mother walked into the room, looking at her disapprovingly. "Now young lady, that is no way to be eating your food." She glared grumpily at her mother and replied in a snarky tone "Well how else am I supposed to eat, we're late already!" Her mother shook her head and sighed. "Are you really sure you want to do this, you'll be gone for a while." May was about to explode with annoyance, her mother was just too much sometimes. "We've talked this over before Mom. I'm eighteen, it's about time I left home." Without a word May busied herself with other things to get ready, ignoring her mother for a bit. Finally she jumped to her feet and halfway out the door she yelled "Bye Mom, see you whenever I come back!" She caught up to Lucas, who had already left without her on his way to Professor Oak's place.
"Look who decided to show up." Lucas taunted, sometimes he was way too annoying as well. "Whatever." May grumbled, not in the best of moods that morning. Despite their lateness, they decided to take their time to get to where they were going, not wanting to waste all their energy racing all over Pallet Town. Finally they reached Professor Oak's lab, and May could already tell they were the latest ones so far. Everyone seemed to already have their Pokemon. She paid no attention to them for the moment, not wanting to get distracted. Professor Oak greeted them right away and said cheerily "I guess you two did decide to show up after all. Come now, we have no time to waste!" An array of pokeballs were set in front of them, with pictures to show which Pokemon was which. May looked down at the Pokemon carefully and claimed "I'll choose the Fire type, Charmander right?" Professor Oak nodded and said hastily "Yes that is correct. Will you give it a name?" She looked down at the pokeball she had absentmindedly grabbed, now clutched in her hand, and studied it for a moment. "I'll name him Flint." A faint smile appeared on her face, and she whirled around to get a good look at the other trainers-to-be. She spotted a boy with vibrant red hair, he seemed decent enough and she thought she recognized him. She noticed a pokeball in his hand and automatically assumed he had gotten a Pokemon as well. Although she didn't particularly want to, she casually walked over to the boy and said a bit quietly "Uh, hey. My name's May. I see you got a Pokemon today too."

[[Always be p r e p a r e d for what life throws at you.]]
Lucas slammed his hand on his annoying alarm clock, silencing the buzzing machine. He stared at the glowing red numbers for a moment, a bit dazed. He came to his senses soon enough and he eagerly swung himself out of bed. He was excited, today he was finally going to get his first Pokemon! He chose what he usually wore, a striped button up shirt, a burgundy sweater, and a pair of dark washed jeans. He sat at the table eating breakfast when his mother walked in, but as she was about to speak, Lucas interrupted "No time Mom, I've got to hurry." He got ready in a flash, barely making time to speak with his mother. He knew his sister May was going to wake up late, so he prepared a little surprise for her when she woke up.
Lucas quickly ran a comb through his messy dark brown hair as a glass of ice cold water sat in the counter next to him. His mother entered the room once more, her vibrant ocean blue eyes more serious this time. "Lucas, what are you up to?" She asked with a half joking half serious tone. "Oh, just planning a little something for May." He replied a bit mysteriously. She sighed and ran her fingers through her wavy auburn hair. "What am I ever going to do with you Lucas?" she paused and then added "And are you sure you want to leave me?" He smiled and then said lightheartedly "Stop worrying Mom, I'll be fine. Now I've got to go give May a wake up call." He ran out the door and into May's room. He stood by her bed for a minute and gazed down at his little sister. "Aww, how cute. She's still sleeping, perfect." He laughed to himself. On the count of three he splashed cold water on her face and he started to laugh as she woke with a start.
He waltzed out the door again, busing himself with pointless things while he waited for his sister. Still, she was taking far too long, so he rushed out the front door figuring she would catch up with him. They were already pretty late, and he certainly didn't want his younger twin slowing him down. Before he forgot he shouted behind him at his mother in the doorway "Bye Mom, see ya later!" He was well on his way to Professor Oak's lab when May finally decided to show up. He teased he of course, much to her distaste. They finally made it to Professor Oak's with little time to spare. He noticed that everyone else seemed to have pokeballs already and realized that they were the latest ones there so far. He didn't let this fact phase him though and he zoned out the others for a little bit. Professor Oak approached them and exclaimed "I guess you two did decide to show up after all. Come now, we have no time to waste!" Lucas examined the pokeballs set in front of them, studying each picture of the three Pokemon for a few moments. He had already planned on getting a Bulbasaur, but he just wanted to make sure. Eventually he went with his original plan and said confidently "I'll choose Blubasaur, the grass Pokemon, right?" Professor Oak nodded in agreement and replied "Yep, it sure is. Are you going to give it a nickname?" Lucas grabbed a pokeball behind the Bulbasaur sign and tossed it carefully. He thought for a moment, but he already had a name in mind last night. "I think I'll name her Lola." He announced. He turned around with his sister, and not wanting to be alone he walked over to the group of people who seemed to be gathered around a dark haired girl with glasses and her Squirtle. He stretched out his arms and said casually "Hey guys, what's up?" Even though he barely knew these people at all, he tended to be a casual type of a guy who greeted everyone as if they had been friends for a while.
