Karter Zael | Hades | Tagging: Emerson | Location: Camp

Karter froze for a moment, skin crawling at the touch, he clenched his jaw, but spoke not a word, just followed Emerson out to the arena. It was snowing even HEAVIER, which wasn’t great for training, but he yanked his hood up over his mop of messy brown hair to keep away the snow.

Soon enough they had reached the arena though. He’d be glad to get moving, standing or sitting still was NOT his thing. "Okay, how're we trainin' then? Hand-to-hand? Weaponry?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|She/her|Unknown (Ares)|Location: Armoury---> wandering|tags: Auggie

Aggy huffed. She really had been looking forward to find someone to set off. Ah well,
She brightened at the suggestion. "Yea, that sounds cool!" Aggy said, looking up at the other camper with wide eyes. She had listened to her advice from earlier, but considering her reaction to Aggy's near drowning, she probably didn't have a death wish in store for her.
Still, she was grateful it wouldn't involve the lake, as she wasn't keen on going back at the moment.
A flurry landed on her eyelash, and she raised a hand to bat it away, excited for whatever Auggie was planning. Again, she had no intention of losing.

Alex noticed someone new standing by the pink door of cabin 10. He waved at them, appreciating their exquisite style and fun, birthday-cake icecream-esque hair. He opened the door and walked in, before catching himself, and turning around to hold it open for them. "
"Wanna come in?" He asked, frowning as they stood in the snow. They had to be cold, but they seemed a little anxious about something. Alex studied them, trying to tune into the emotion sensing skills he supposedly got from his mother.

Aiden 016 | a stranger approaches

Postby Kveykva » Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:08 pm

    ──── Aiden Seaver
】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | Canoe Lake | Tags: Teilo Griffiths
𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜
Aiden also made the note that Teilo apparently didn't like to be touched. He must really hate the Hermes campers then. He could only imagine the kind of stuff that went down in that cabin after hours, especially with how many kids there were crammed in there. "Well, I know of you, just because I pay attention to all the new campers." He explained. "But I don't really know much about you besides your name." He knew a little bit more than he let on, but that stemmed from his familiarity with the Hermes cabin, Juliet especially. Not to mention he never saw the older boy at his training classes, which meant he made himself scarce when they began. Aiden would address that part later. The conversation shifted to a deeper discussion of whether Teilo was mortal or not, which he clearly only joked about. That meant he probably had one or a couple of powers under his belt as a demigod. That might give some kind of clue about where he came from. Or who. At a glance, Teilo reminded Aiden of Vivienne, a daughter of Khione who found her way to Camp Half-Blood around the same time he did. He didn't know her well, but that stemmed from the way she kept her distance from people. And after she left camp, that was that. This kid didn't strike him as a child of Khione, though.

"Flag?" Aiden sounded distant at first, but he was quick to refocus. "That's probably the Camp Event." He said. "We do one every couple nights during the rest of the year, but it's every night in the summer. Something for the summer campers to look forward to, to get the most out of their training while they're here." Aiden spoke knowledgable on the topic. "They're always fun, especially when you get on the Ares cabin's bad side." He snickered. "My first one was about five years ago, and it... was unforgettable, to say the least." He shifted his hands in his pockets. "It doesn't happen often, but people have died during the camp events. The last death was at my first camp event, a daughter of Kymopoleia named Audra got stuck with a spear while up in the air, and... the fall is what killed her, pretty much. No one knew who did it, there's so much crossfire during the events that accidents happen." Aiden shrugged in an "it is what it is" kind of motion. "The Apollo cabin and satyrs have some of the best first aid around, but they can only do so much. Say," His tone shifted, almost out of nowhere. "you haven't been having dreams lately, have you?" Their talk about the accident reminded Aiden about its connection to the prophecy Terrance vomited out during the camp meeting. It was a stretch, but maybe Teilo was one of the questers. It wouldn't be the first time a new camper got pulled for a quest.

"Fair enough." He conceded. Gods did have a thing for manipulating mortals, but humans were painfully gullible. From what he could see, Khione did have a pretty tight wrap on Vivienne. Not to mention he doubted she'd hesitate to cut her pupil from the picture if it came down to it. "Well," the stranger hummed thoughtfully, chewing on the offer like a tender bite of steak. "It's a tempting offer, so I'll humor you." He leaned back in his chair. "You have your yes." Allegiance? That was a stretch, but he would be willing to put some amount of effort towards Khione's endeavor to see where it went. "I'll lend you my support, but I will not be your pawn." His tone grew cold on the tail end of his statement before resuming its normal temperature. "I'm sure you understand." This wasn't his fight, so he wouldn't fight the goddess' battles for her. Not to mention his support would only go as far as his interest, but he wouldn't tell her that. "Is there anything else I need to know about this project of yours?" He asked, sensing for Vivienne among the overlapping sensations of life skittering through the tunnels.

teilo was convinced that there was not much to know about him. it wasn't that he didn't think there were tales to tell underneath layers of ice - the reference to the weather intended - but rather that none of it seemed important. it was all in the past now. for all aiden knew, he was a new camper with a foreign, sometimes musical accent; suppressed by the tenderness of his volume. perhaps the problem was that there was too much to tell. so much was possible, but it was all able to be traced back to the fact that he did not, in any sense, trust the people that he was surrounded with to know him in his entirety. solitude, anonymity, elusiveness, these things all protected his being more than a shield ever could. "there's not much to know," he lied - and a formidable tell, not wandering eyes or scratching of the nose, but direct eye contact, brief and intense, and words that were not muffled by his monotony. "i wasn't here and now i am. i don't know that that's worth a campfire story, do you? everyone got here somehow." and everyone will, one day, leave.

"camp event," he repeated, sounding exasperated at the mere thought. he was not a massive fan of group activities, especially ones like this. perhaps a disappearing act was in order - a quick slip into the shadows, a twist of his trained invisibility, and he could return to the brief silence of a now-bustling cabin. he'd just pretend he got lost. perhaps that was a good plan. "so they don't tend to carry out health and safety checks, then? i don't suppose you've got a risk assessment lying about anywhere." he raised his eyebrows incredulously, the thought almost amusing.
then the tale of a girl named audra. he frowned, clenched his jaw, thought about the repercussions of such an event. he imagined it would have been cataclysmic. no - he didn't have to imagine at all. "that's... sorry." he wondered if he'd see this girl around. actually, he wondered if he'd already seen her. it was sometimes difficult to discern who was a spectral image and who was objective, real - especially when he had been separate from the outside world for so long.

then, he was being asked a question that had him baffled, to say the least. "are you trying to psychoanalyse me?" he asked. "i once had a dream that i was in the body of a comedian from back home and he was being sort of... transmutated into a spider. it was surprisingly sad." he paused, pondering the thought for a while. in reality, he had a lot of dreams - some important, some lost to the waking haze, and recently - "oh. no, yes i have," he confirmed. "strange, actually. i hadn't thought about it. i came out this morning and felt a bit off, but i didn't.... i think i dreamt something like this. but it was somewhere else." trying to grasp for the fading image, he shut his eyes tight. "i thought i was in the brecon beacons, this... mountain range i've been to. all snowy. it didn't look much like pen y fan, but i recognised it. just sort of assumed. the memory's a buzzing place." with this said, he took a deep breath in through his nose. "and then i woke up and it was snowing. maybe i was just cold. poor central heating in those cabins." he didn't mention the rest of what he recalled - the fear, paralysing in its nature, the feeling of being watched by something profoundly other. it didn't seem important. just a nightmare. "are you going to tell me i'm repressed?" he wouldn't be wrong if he did, teilo supposed.

Niji gave Alex a small smile.
"Yes please. I was wondering could we talk about fashion? The camp shirts aren't up to my standards... and shouldn't be up to anyone's, but that's neither here or there I guess."

Niji was still really nervous to ask if they could pray there, but didn't want to ask just yet. Maybe later.

Alex snorted in agreement. The camp shirts were hideous, but he had to admit that they looked pretty okay after being bleach-washed and tailored. He let the door swing shut after the other camper stepped inside.
"Of course, I was just getting a coat myself!" He said, leading the tall kid to the communal wardrobe along the back wall of the cabin, which housed everything from simple peacoats to elaborate costume pieces.
He began digging through a section of jackets when he was struck by a thought, and paused briefly to focus on the vibrant person. "I don't think I caught your name yet. I'm Alex," He offered a smile before focusing his attention on finding a coat, preferably one that would go with his aforementioned acid washed camp shirt (saved specifically for tonight's game, though he'd have to break into it early).

The Athena camper was taken aback by Teilo's sudden standoffishness, stepping away a single pace to allow him some space. "Yeah, I guess..." He couldn't argue with the other teen's logic. If he pried further, he'd only succeed in becoming a hypocrite. Quest aside, the mention of the Audra and the accident caused Aiden to dread the coming camp event rather than look forward to it. Capture the Flag never sat right with him after that; he preferred the chariot races. "Chiron made sure she had a proper burial, but camp deaths are rare enough that they don't really leave you, y'know?" He looked up to the other. "If someone dies on a quest or in a monster attack away from camp, you still feel sad, but not in the same way. It's not as personal as when someone's killed in your own home, by your own family." He shuffled his feet in the cold. "I don't blame anyone for it. It was an accident; plain and simple. Things like that happen all the time. I can't even count on my fingers how many times I've been stabbed." Aiden's voice raised an octave as he tried to lighten the mood. "It's part of being a demigod. It's in our blood. And honestly, you probably won't get much more from your divine mother or father besides a claiming and sometimes a voice in the back of your head for guidance. And rarer still, a weapon." A little less comforting than Aiden tended to be, but he got the feeling this guy didn't want or need to be coddled. "Have faith in you and you'll do fine."

The question of dreams (thankfully, Aiden didn't specify prophetic or not) wasn't well received. "No!" he huffed in response to the question of psychoanalyzing the other, breath billowing. "Yeah, I know it's a weird question, weird enough to pair with... whatever in Tartarus that spider comedian dream was." He instinctively shivered. Like most children of Athena, he didn't like spiders. He fell quiet when Teilo provided him with an answer. Not the one he expected, but the one he was looking for. "Dude," he shook his head before dismissively waving his hand, the oversized sleeve of his parka flopping along with it. "You're not repressed--"at least that wasn't Aiden's place to say"--but holy crap I wasn't expecting a yes." He glanced around the lake; they seemed to be completely alone, with every other camper out of earshot. Aiden dropped his voice to a whisper anyway. "There was a meeting at the Big House earlier because of the snow, and Terrence gave us a prophecy." He paused a moment to let that sink in. "Nobody specific was mentioned, so Chiron wanted us to ask around, see if anyone's been having prophetic dreams. You've got to be one of the questers, Teilo."

Niji gave his out his own 'i'm not used to smiling, so I hope this looks okay' nervous smile as he picked at his skin. Niji frowned for a moment before popping a pacifier in his mouth.
Niji blushed and pulled it out before saying "I'm Niji also this keeps me from picking at my skin and making my hands and arms bleed, and I'm sorry it's weird."
Niji put the paci back in chewing on it a bit. "That's some fancy stuff." Niji commented looking at the heaps of clothes in the closet.

"lm 'akun bihajat 'iilaa 'ayi mn hdha fi almanzil" Niji snorted.

They hadn't realized they had made the comment in Arabic and wasn't paying attention as they looked around the room. Surprisingly there wasn't a lot of Aphrodite campers, but they may have been fixing other campers' wardrobes. It was quiet and seemed to be a good place to pray. Niji tapped his dufflebag absentmindedly.

"Do you think they'll cancel capture the flag?" Niji asked.

Satchi waved it off. "Oh no, I totally get what you mean." She herself hadn’t been exactly an outcast per se, but that was because she purposely went out of her way to try and get in with various people and groups, not because she was accepted or included right away, even here.

Jolene smiled, keeping silent for a moment. She looked up at the snow, shivering slightly. She had heard from someone that there was a new prophecy. The snow would be a very, very big coincidence if it wasn't related. She brushed some of the flakes out of her hair. At least it was beautiful. As they entered the pavilion, she glanced at Satchi. "Looking forward to Capture the Flag?"

Alex gestured to his face, the eyeliner in particular."You think I don't get the odd comment about this? Nah, you're cool dude." He said, finally settling on an iridescent windbreaker. The color was eye catching, and would come in handy later when it showed every drop of blood. Hopefully that would be enough to get the medics not to question his motives this time when he came rushing frantically in. They'd gotten pretty suspicious of him by the end of last summer.

Niji made a comment that Alex didn't understand, and he frowned, trying to puzzle it out as he ducked into one of the changing stalls, coat and T-shirt in hand

"With any luck, yes." He said through the curtain, switching out his shirt and pulling the acid washed one over his head. "But you didn't hear that from me," He added, pulling the jacket on as he exited the changing room.
"Now what was it you wanted to talk about fashion?" He asked, eager to move on to a topic that he actually liked. His eyes lit up with the possibilities, and he looked at Niji expectantly.
