I nodded and looked at the Doctor, assuming he would take the lead with this expedition. Secretly I was itching to get out of this camp, but I hid it behind a facade of barely controlled nerves.

[higurashi]

The Doctor hesitated, before sighing. "Fine. Look after each other. He turned to Delilah and Tristin. "Follow me." He turned and stalked off in a seemingly random direction.

I followed the Doctor, keeping close to Tristin, like he made me feel safe. In truth, some of his features reminded me of my Mistress and that was some small comfort; but it was negligible compared to the knowledge that she was watching what happened through my own eyes- well, almost. The clip in my hair, but that was so close to my eyes that it practically didn't matter. Still, I continued to keep close to Tristin, gently holding his arm as we walked. Keep my mistress close, and everyone else closer...

Annabelle twirled her red hair around a finger, thinking, before tapping her matching clip. "Delilah, listen to me. Don't say anything, they can't hear me. I want you to pull Tristin away from the Doctor and tell him everything. Confess you've been working for me. BUT. Tell him that I was forcing you to and I was going to kill you or something. Make up some shmoopy stuff like that to make sure he trusts you."

I couldn't indicate that I had heard Annabelle, but I also couldn't tell Tristin immediately. I began to subtly slow my walking pace, 'accidentally' tripping more than once, struggling with the undergrowth, that sort of thing. The idea was to see if I could get slowed down enough to completely lose the Doctor- at least for right then. It wasn't as if the trail of crushed undergrowth would make it hard to follow the Doctor. Just hard enough to feasibly get away with falling behind.

Tristin saw Delilah falling behind and stopped, waiting for her. "Are you alright?" He murmured, forgetting about following the Doctor for a moment.

"No." I whispered, glancing up ahead to make sure the Doctor wasn't yet coming back. "Tristin... When we first met, I wasn't completely honest with you. There's a woman I met, first thing when I got here... She's been threatening me." I swallow, hard, like it is difficult to say this. I momentarily cease talking, looking around furtively because my persona is terrified that Annabelle is coming for her.

Tristin's eyes widened in shock and he took Delilah's hands. "Is it... is it Annabelle? I can help you, I promise. How has she been threatening you?" He was suddenly very mad at his sister for even suggesting harming the poor, scared girl in front of him.

I trembled, looking at our joined hands rather than his face. "She- She said she knew where my friend was, my friend who I was traveling with-" I paused, working my voice up and giving a dry sob. "She said that if I d-didn't help h-her she would hurt her..."
