" I don't care for snow much either, it's too cold. It's pretty and all but thats about it." Emmie said as she shoved the muffin in her pocket. "Well since I'm done eating and you don't seem to be too hungry... wanna do some training for the game?" she asked him with a smirk. She needed the practice "You can go all out on me, I can take it!" she told him with a bright smile as she tied up her red locks in a high pony.[/quote]

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Ophelia|

Mirabelle met Ophelia's gaze as the question was posed. "I suppose I do," she stated, albeit cautiously. Memories of her father flooded back to her. The only time she really ate soup was when she wasn't feeling well, and he'd made his homemade butternut squash soup every time. But that was before... Guilt stabbed at her heart like a dagger, twisting in her gut. She blinked, pulling herself back to the conversation at hand. "Butternut squash has always been my favourite." She slapped a smile on her face as she spoke, trying her best to keep her tone lighthearted. Despite her sudden lack of an appetite, Mirabelle forked some salad onto a plate. She figured she ought to eat something at least, and a salad was always a good option.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Walking Through Camp|Tags: Alex|

Juliet snickered at his mention of Rasputin. She recalled watching Anastasia as a child with her mother. Rasputin had been one of her favourite characters; she just couldn't get enough of the animated creepiness of his magical abilities. She didn't catch on to Alex's hidden glee over capture the flag, instead shrugging. "Yeah, it would suck majorly if they cancelled," she groaned. "Let's just hope this crazy weather doesn't turn into a full-blown blizzard, and we should be fine."

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Forest|Tags: Jamie|

"Like, I hope so," Chuck sighed. "You're probably right though. I'd bet the wine dude has some sort of, like, protection on 'em or something, you know?" He kicked a clump of snow with his hoof, aware that he sounded more like he was trying to convince himself than anyone else. He noticed that they'd reached the edges of the forest - a sizable group of satyrs and nymphs were gathered near the trees. They looked like they were discussing something, but their voices were muffled by the wind. "Whoa, I wonder what that's about?" he mused aloud.

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Peak of Mount Marcy|Tags: Khione, Mysterious Stranger|

Vivienne's eyes narrowed at the comment about 'matching outfits', though it seemed her mother chose to ignore it. The two icy individuals led the stranger into a rather cozy living area, devoid of a fireplace, however. Khione swiftly seated herself in the tallest wingback chair, leaving Vivienne to take a seat on one of the smaller chairs beside her.
"Yes, I have to say, Hyperborean giants and cold spirits make surprisingly good interior decorators," Khione stated.
Vivienne simply nodded, staying quiet for the time being.
"Getting down to business," the snow goddess stated stoically. "I've invited you here because we plan on destroying Camp Half-Blood, and anyone inside." Her coffee-brown eyes glittered with something yet unspoken, but Vivienne wasn't quite sure what her mother was getting at. They were going to destroy Camp Half-Blood. That was it, as far as she was concerned.

Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Arena-camp|tags:Aggy
Auggie took out most of her anger and frustration on the practice dummies in the arena. She didn’t feel more annoyed than usual today, but her usual amount of annoyance was quite a bit. When she finally stopped, breathing heavily with purple hair falling into her face, she eyed the fresh gashes she had made on the dummy. She ran a finger along the flat side of her Stygian iron sword thoughtfully. The blade was still sharp—it almost always was—but she didn’t want it to get dull before capture the flag later, where she would most certainly need It. Auggie didn’t like to play games unless she won, so she wasn’t likely to go easy on anyone, even if the opponents were her fellow campers. Thinking about keeping her blades sharp, she remembered that she hadn’t gotten her whetstone back from Aggy yet. If the kid had run off with it and thought Auggie wouldn’t notice if she kept it for herself, she was about to learn a much harsher lesson than a cold swim in the lake would teach her. She sheathed her sword and headed back out of the arena, a hard expression on her face. She scanned the area and quickly spotted the red-headed girl, who appeared to be looking for something. She approached the girl from behind, her footsteps light and quiet on the snow covered ground. “Don’t tell me you’re lost already. Don’t they give you new kids a map or something?” She asked, voice dripping with sarcasm as she raised a pierced brow.

Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Forest|tags:Chuck
Jamie could tell Chuck wasn’t entirely convinced—and if he was being honest, neither was he—but there wasn’t much they could do other than hope for the best. He looked up as they reached the edge of the forest, blinking in the shadows cast from the dense group of trees, it took a moment for his eyes to adjust after the bright white of the snow. His glasses had become covered in wet droplets from the falling snow again and he took them off to wipe on the edge of his shirt. Putting them back on, his eyes landed on the group Chuck had commented on. “Huh...looks important.” He said. Though he couldn’t really make out the tones of their voices, he’d never seen such a large group of satyrs and nymphs gathered together like that. There had to be a reason. “Maybe something to do with, uh...this?” He suggested, gesturing to the snow all around them.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

Aiden 014 | a stranger approaches

Postby Kveykva » Sat Dec 19, 2020 3:50 pm

    ──── Aiden Seaver
】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | Dining Pavilion ➡ Canoe Lake | Tags: Teilo Griffin
𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜
Aiden sheepishly scratched the back of his head when Teilo corrected him. In his defense, he was pretty close. "Yeah, Camp Half-Blood does have its moments." Peace and quiet were few and far between, especially in the summertime. The younger (and much smaller) camper tapped the ice with his foot, testing it against his weight. It felt rather sturdy, which only added to the strangeness of how cold it'd gotten so quickly. "I wouldn't call it lovely, not this time of year." He answered with a sigh. His breath formed a thick cloud in front of his face, which the boy was quick to wave away. "I remember, you're still unclaimed yea?" Aiden stuck his hand out to him, his other hand shoved deep into his parka pocket. "Aiden. I'm the Athena cabin's head counselor, if you didn't know that already." Since all the cabin heads had a little bit of authority, Aiden felt it was important that every camper knew it upfront. That way he wouldn't feel guilty about luring them into a false sense of security if that happened to be the case. "You've been here long enough, I'm actually surprised none of the gods have claimed you yet. They're usually pretty on top of it."

A stranger approaches ! ! | Tags: Vivienne Isole, Khione
So that's what they were planning. How juvenile. Accepting the goddess' surprisingly warm hospitality, the man chose a seat of his own, resting the cane against the armrest. "I see," the stranger sounded a little disappointed. He felt as though Khione had lied to him; teased at something greater. To each their own, he supposed. Though, if that were all, what purpose did he serve? It crossed into his domain, but that was a stretch at best. "Then what use do you have with me?" He inquired. "With Hyperborean giants and a few frosty fiends at your fingertips, you have more than enough resources to have your own spotlight. Unlike yours, my name turns heads--" He bit his tongue, but a moment too late. There you go again, speaking before you think. He cursed himself. "That... isn't the way I meant it, but you see the point I'm making." The stranger attempted to salvage the situation. "Either there's more to this than destroying Camp Half-Blood that warrants my expertise, or there's something you're not telling me."

when the ice was tested, teilo had to prevent himself from lurching backwards. the lake was safe for its placidity - the lack of movement on the thin upper layer was the only testament to its retention as a solid. testing those boundaries felt like a risk that he was not willing to take - a challenge to whatever deity of luck was looking down upon them with a likely dour countenance. when it did not shatter immediately, plunging aiden into freezing depths, he calmed, untensed his shoulders, and let out a slow breath. there was no need for fear yet - but his mind wandered to the fact that he had not yet laid eyes upon a ghost within the walls of this camp, and at any moment, this boy, camp counsellor or otherwise, could become one. "so it would seem," he said in regards to the state of the camp's chaos. "quite quiet before everyone arrived. it almost felt like a holiday." it wasn't. in all actuality, from what he had learned, presence here was little more than a promise of an untimely and violent death to the hands of some magnanimous and malevolent other. stories passed around by word of mouth of tragedy and heartache, both of which were not quite his cup of tea. he did not want any trouble here. he had a feeling that it would find him regardless. "i like it," he defended the weather. "it's wrong. very wrong. it shouldn't be happening, but it is, and it's my type of weather." teilo looked around at the settled snow, some untarnished by footfall, some riddled with it, and wondered if this was as close to peace as he was going to get here.

"aiden," he repeated, attempting to note the name to memory. it would likely not serve to do anything. there were a lot of names that floated in the hazy head of his, and if the gaggles of teenagers would have it, there would be more to come. unclaimed - what a reminder. he nodded, did not seem to give the thought any more weight. he had pored over that enough.
the point of him being the camp counsellor brought a little quirk to his eyebrow - not quite a challenge, not yet, but rather a test of explosivity on the other's part. "would you like me to bow to your glory?" that was sarcasm. it could have been played off as humorous, a punch on the shoulder between friends, but underneath it all was an overwhelmingly unimpressable young man, unfettered by arbitrary superiorities held by younger campers. "maybe they're all fighting over me up there. trying to figure out which of them gets to claim all of my grandeur as their own." he paused. "or maybe i'm just here by mistake. that'd be funny, wouldn't it?" he didn't say it like it was funny. more like he was a bit bitter. "you've accidentally let a mortal into your ranks. god forbid. sorry - gods forbid."

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Forest|Tags: Jamie|

"Wanna go check it out?" Chuck suggested hesitantly. He wasn't one for large crowds, but whatever was happening there looked pretty important. Satyrs and nymphs didn't usually gather like this. He figured Aiden was right; they were probably having some sort of meeting given the sudden cold front in June. He squinted at the group, and he could make out some four-legged forms amongst the group as well. Foxes, a few squirrels... even a black bear. "Looks like quite the party over there," Chuck surmised. As he debated on going over to investigate, a small wren fluttered towards him and perched atop his head.

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Peak of Mount Marcy|Tags: Khione, Mysterious Stranger|

Vivienne noticed her mother bristle at the comment about her reputation, but both women held their tongues for the time being. Instead, Khione turned to Vivienne, fixing her coffee-brown eyes on her daughter's naturally pale face. "Vivienne, would you be a dear and get our guest some refreshments?"
Vivienne nodded sharply, glad to have a reason to be rid of the dark stranger. She headed off into the network of tunnels - her home, not her mother's - to do just that. The thought crossed her mind that Khione might have wanted to be rid of her on purpose. Impossible, she assured herself. She must have simply noted my discomfort. Deciding that was the case, she pushed all further doubts aside. Surely there was nothing sinister going on here...
-
With her daughter gone, Khione turned to the stranger with more intensity. "I apologise for any false pretenses you may have detected," she said sternly. "My... daughter must be kept in the dark, so to speak. If she knew the full extent of my planning, she may not be as receptive." She fixed the man with a calculative stare, intent on analysing any response he may give. "I have my own reasons for wanting to destroy the demigods. What she does not know, however, is that I - we - plan on destroying all of them. Camp Half-Blood is only the first of many."
A niphus; a spirit of absolute cold, popped it's head around the cavern entrance and made a motion to Khione. She nodded sharply, turning back to their guest. "What my organisation wants, is destruction and suffering. They are... unable to appear physically as of yet - they must work through powerful beings such as myself." Bragging aside, her voice lowered to an icy whisper. "I intend to throw open the doors to Tartarus once more. But rather than let creatures out... we intend to pull the world in."

winona-eighteen-hecate-open

Winona finished with her morning workout, unsure of what to do next. Camp Halfblood was great. She loved it. But it wasn't as interesting as it could be. Quests were kind of what she lived for. She had heard a rumor from a couple of Aphrodite's kids that there was a new prophecy...whether or not it was true remained to be seen. But the snow in summer seemed to be a decent indicator. A lot of the campers hated the snow, especially the summer ones. It reminded her of the weather back home. In Washington, she spent hours in the forest, rain, sun or snow. Even here she spent a lot of time in the forest. It was quieter there, away from the noise and the spirits. Plus the nymphs were fun to talk to. They saw much more than most people knew. The things she's heard... She put the knives away, heading deeper in. She pulled her coat tighter around herself, closing her eyes for a moment, relishing the silence. She probably should talk to her mother soon, Hecate got weird if she didn't. For a godly parent, she was pretty hands on. Always seemed disappointed in her though. That kinda sucked. She tried her hardest to be what she wanted, though. Sometimes she just wanted to be back with her dad, just the two of them.

Aydan Tags: Val Location: Lake

Aydan kept his gaze on the fox "I've always loved Canines. My names Aydan by the way, I'm newer to camp." he said not looking away from the fox until he heard voices in the distance. He looked to see two campers on the frozen lake, for a split moment he thought it'd be funny to unfreeze their part of the lake just to prank them but he thought better of it. No reason to cause unnecessary trouble... yet. He'd have to get to know more campers before that happened. He looked back at Sunny and Val and sighed, what a mess some of these campers are, though he had to admit the girls fox was quite adorable.

Aiden 015 | a stranger approaches

Postby Kveykva » Sat Dec 19, 2020 6:43 pm

    ──── Aiden Seaver
】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | Canoe Lake | Tags: Teilo Griffiths
𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜
This guy was definitely... quirky, to say the least. He kept the "cold and distant" act going as though his life depended on it. Maybe it did? Teilo might have been creeping around camp for right around six months, but Aiden didn't know anything about what his life beyond the barrier was like. He likely had family beyond the walls that he cared about, friends he wanted to keep safe... or that he'd already lost, and thus was afraid to fall back into the same trap. While the Athenian camper didn't relate in quite the same way, he definitely understood the sentiment. At the mention of Teilo bowing as a sign of acknowledgment of Aiden's position, he gave him a push instead of a handshake. "You don't have to be such a bootlicker, you know." Aiden murmured sarcastically. "There's not very many campers in the Athena cabin, and I'm here all the time. I said it so that you'd know you'd always have a friend in me." He sniffed, though the playfulness in his tone was apparent.

Teilo didn't take too kindly to being reminded that he was still unclaimed; Aiden made a note to avoid that nerve in the future. At least, however long it took for him to be claimed. Come on guys, step up your game. And here you were doing so well. It only took a few months after Aiden made it to Camp Half-Blood to get his claim from his mother, and he knew some campers that were claimed even earlier. He masked a chuckle at the thought of the Olympians fighting over this kid, more so that they were fighting over ownership of a mortal and less that it had to do with Teilo specifically. "...or maybe I'm just here by mistake. That'd be funny, wouldn't it?" Aiden now allowed himself a frown. "I highly doubt that," He assured the other. "Even if you were a mortal who slipped through the cracks, you wouldn't be here without a reason. The Fates work in funny ways, but I wouldn't really know." He rubbed the back of his neck, nose glowing red from the cold. "I haven't actually left the camp since I got here eight years ago." Aiden admitted.

A stranger approaches ! ! | Tags: Vivienne Isole, Khione
As expected, neither Khione nor her pupil was fond of his slip-up. To compound it, he tasted blood in his mouth. Wonderful. He'd gone and insulted the snowflake goddess in her own home (he guessed it to be hers) after she so kindly invited him in. The stranger half expected Khione to cast him out after his grave insult, but instead, she tasked Vivienne with fetching the two gods some refreshments. The speed with which she accepted the task was unsurprising, given the nature of his aura. He wasn't practiced with reigning it in, either. After he watched her leave, Khione's hardened voice drew his attention. "I understand, but it's rather cruel to imagine you doing this right under her nose. I must admit, I'm impressed." The goddess stayed true to her domain, as well as her reputation.

The tailored god listened as Khione revealed the nature of her--no, their plot completely. Spotting the niphus, he assumed that to be an extension of the "they" she mentioned. He also observed the similarity in both Khione and Vivienne's mannerisms. Like mother like daughter. As the goddess finished, the stranger inhaled in the beginnings of a sigh. "Now I see why you sought me as an ally." He leaned back in the chair, placing his fingers together in a thoughtful manner. "Not only is it destruction you want, but you also need someone to open the Doors of Death for you. Luckily, that crosses into my territory." He dropped his voice an octave. "But you forget I started out as a demigod. What if I chose not to join you? Or worse yet, side against you?" The stranger fixed Khione with an intense gaze rivaling her own. After a few moments, his eyes lost their chill and his expression loosened, forming a knowing smile that flashed perfect teeth. "You've already considered that and know my answer. Which, now begs the question," He folded his hands together and leaned forward, his voice lowering again. "Why her? I understand the influence you have over her, certainly, but her possible reluctance could jeopardize your entire plot. Why use her as your first choice of pawn rather than another god?" Of course, he didn't mean himself. A minor force, such as kami, could serve Khione in a similar fashion.
