she smiles at Lilly then looks up at John "Are you okay?" she touched him softly then looked at Lilly "How about a better name" she smiles "Something more pretty like yours name?" she looks down at the girl "Maybe Rose? Or Daisy?" she looks back at John

John shook his head lightly to clear it. "I'm fine." His voice held no emotion. Lilly shook her head 'no'. "Her name is Hannah Joe Mayce." John's breath caught and he coughed. "Lilly, where did you hear that name, sweety?" He asked, trying to sound like nothing was wrong. Lilly looked up at him with wide eyes. "Mommy told me not to forget her name." She held the kitten close and walked away. John shut his eyes and bowed his head, looking defeated.

she looked at John and bit her lip "Are you okay?" she touched his shoulder softly "You can tell me, I am here" she leaned back against the rail and looked at him again

John took a deep breath. "I'm fine. Just never though I'd hear that name again." He pulled his knees to his chest and shut his eyes tight.

her face went soft and she walked to him and touched his shoulder softly "John, you can talk to me. Who's name is that?" she looked at him feeling like all of this is her fault.

John looked up at her, his eyes sad. "Hannah was Lilly's mother. She killed herself a year ago. Lilly was with her when she died." He looked away and started shaking. "The note she left said it was my fault. That I killed her the day Lilly was born." He covered her hand with his. "That's why I was angry earlier when you said about your ex. Because I realized that he and I have something in common." He slid his hand off hers and took a shaky breath. "We're both killers."

she shook her head and knelled down in-front of him she put her hand under his chin and looked at him "You are not a Killer John you have given your daughter the best life she could ask for, she is just young and you are all she has" she runs her fingers through his hair "I promise you are not a Killer I promise, you are a good man and it is your wife's fault she gave up a good husband and a wonderful daughter" she touches her his cheek softly

John held her hand against his cheek for a second, then let her go. "We were never married." He said quietly. "I hardly even knew her. We just met at a party and... Well, someone spiked the punch." He kept his eyes shut. "It's still my fault that she killed herself."

she took her hand from his cheek and placed it gently on his leg her eyes moving back and forth on his face "John it is not your fault I promise. She did it on her own time. I see no way it could be your fault, you guard that little girl with your life and I can see that in your face" she looked up at him
