Jess nodded reluctantly and sat down, leaning against the cave wall with her sprained leg out straight and her good one curled up to her chest. She let her wings relax, stretching them out before loosely wrapping them around her body.

Hiro walked as far back as he could into the darkness and sat criss-crossed on the damp, cold floor, his brightly colored wings tight against his back.

Ren laid on the floor, fighting to stay conscious. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath.

My blue eyes glowed in the dark like cat eyes which made sense considering the bit of feline DNA that had been mixed into my own genetic structure. Spotting Hiro by himself I walked over to him and scooped him into my arms then sat down with my back against the cave wall. "Are you sure you're ok Hiro?" The kid had grown on me quite a bit and had a special place in my heart because he was adorable and despite his young age, he dealt with so much stress quite well.

Athena walked over to Jess, and sat beside her. "Don't you just love camping?" She said sarcastically.

Hiro jumped a bit at the sudden contact, but when he realised it was just Jinx he relaxed a bit. "I'm fine..." he said softly, instinctively wrapping an arm around her neck. He rubbed his bruised arms, avoiding eye contact at all costs, though, knowing her, she'd probably want just the opposite.

Jess chuckled, "Oh yes, it's the best." She giggled when she realised that she'd rhymed. "Though a bonfire doesn't sound too bad right about now..."

"Yea. Good idea." Athena stood up and looked at the wounded flock. "I'm going to go get us some fire wood."She announced as she dove off the cliff to the bottom of the canyon to find wood.

Smiling softly I began running my fingers through his hair gently. He'd never been one to enjoy a lot of contact but he would have to deal with it this time because I was just happy that we were all safe. "That's good to hear." I let my wings extend and wrap around the two of us more for the sake of keeping him warm. My body could handle harsh conditions but he was still so young and I couldn't risk letting him get sick while we were on the run.

Jess gave a quick smile before rising as well, favoring her injured leg. "I'm going with her," she said, and with that she jumped off the cliff, following Athena. She grinned as she free-fell; even with their current situation, flying was still great.

Hiro sighed quietly, figuring it was better just to humor her, and got himself comfortable in her lap. Despite all his intentions, the warmth of her wings was so soothing, and soon he was asleep, snoring lightly with his head bent forward.

I knew he didn't always enjoy my constant coddling but I couldn't help myself sometimes and even now I found myself nuzzling his neck softly. Slumping slightly against the cave wall I let my eyes close and fell into a light rest making sure that my body was still aware of everything around me.
