Tamilia sighed softly as Soul spoke, and she slipped her arms down, taking the lead. On either side of the beaten dirt 'street', there were large tents, which served as houses in the Alyssian village. Most were dark, but a few had eerie light dancing inside, as if a large firefly was trapped within. Slowly sneaking down the rows, Tamilia looked more like a shadow than a person; the only visible sign that she wasn't was the sleeves of her white dress shirt under her waistcoat. Toppy followed silently, keeping between both Tamilia and Soul, in case one of the other got lost and needed help. Soon enough, though, Tamilia crouched outside of a tent, and pointed to one at the end of the street. It was a large, beige tent, which was obviously some place important: all of the candles and chandeliers inside were lit, making it glow, and nearby there was a stable tent for horses. "That's the army base," Tamilia whispered, still watching it. A sudden rustle alerted her, and she slipped back, but a man in an Alyssian uniform caught her arm. "Let me go," She hissed, tugging her arm from the boy. He looked rather amused, and he rested his hands on his hips, eyeing the girl; apparently, he hadn't seen Soul yet. "What are you doing out here so late? You know Doppelganger is practically turning Underland upside-down to look for you." She sighed and tucked her hair behind her ears, looking up at the soldier as another boy joined him. They seemed to be around Tamilia's age, at least, and they looked more teasing than frightening. "I was out sewing...I lost track of time. I'll go see Doppelganger right now." The soldiers rolled their eyes and stalked off snickering, and Tamilia looked back to Soul, breathing a heavy sigh. "Let's get going before something else happens."
Becoming a dark figure once more, Tamilia slipped past the other tents, approaching the army base with stealth and silence. From inside, there came loud, bickering voices, with two sounding almost exactly alike. She growled under her breath and tiptoed until she was just outside the entrance. "Stay out here, Soul," She said quietly, giving him a reassuring smile. Swallowing hard, she slipped into the tent, and everyone went silent. "General," Tamilia said quietly, bowing her head in respect to the man. The general - who was in his 'split' form - quickly put himself together, eyeing the girl for a moment before his expression softened. "Tamilia, you have to stop coming back so late. We've already sent out search parties; it's the third time this week." General Doppelganger began to pace, trying to restrain his anger. Tamilia, on the other hand, was completely at ease. "I apologize, sir. Has...has there been any new information, on my father's whereabouts?" The general's pacing stopped, and a flicker of pain showed in his eyes. He turned to face the girl, and sighed, rubbing his forehead. "No...I'm sorry. We haven't heard from him yet." Tamilia sighed, and the general took a step toward her, trying to distract her from her own thoughts. "Well...sewing, and...meeting new people..." General Doppelganger looked to her with frightened eyes, and he stepped closer, peering down at her. "Who...did you bring...to the village...?" His voice was full of surpressed rage, and Tamilia pointed fearfully to the entrance of the tent. "Well then! Whomever Tamilia has brought to our Alyssian village, step in now, before I drag you in here by the scruff of your neck."
(( OOC: Based the general off of General Doppelganger from the book 'The Looking Glass Wars'. Quoted from wikipedia:
General Doppelganger: The commander of the Royal Army, made up of equal parts General Doppel and General Gänger. When split he is referred to as 'they', rather than 'he', and each is able to act independently of the other. General Doppelganger can also split into multiple Generals, of which each acts on his own free will. He is based on Tweedledee and Tweedledum. ))
