sitting alone in the centre of the room wasnt exactly a big of a deal for theo, but one may obtain attention being in the most middle of the deadly chamber.
and that is what theo gained. attention.
but it's not like one would expect, he didnt get a sinister glance form a tribute from two, he didnt obtain a vision of the tributes from four swinging their trident watching him with their eyes of the sea. the attention theo got was from a girl, smaller than him, but in contrary, much more energetic than the prior.
      "Hi!"
her voice literally made theo jump, he looked to his side to see this innocent-looking girl, probably younger by a few years, materializing beside him with a glass of water in her hand, with an orange straw poking out from the substance inside. theo, as one may all know, was an introverted boy, having little to no experience talking. in fact, he had been mute from the first day when he arrived int he capitol. but in this situation, speaking is of a mandatory act.
"I'm Clair Grant. District Four. I saw what you did in the training session, it was really good." ah now theo remembered her, it was the day of the reaping in four, and clair appeared on the stage, with all her confidence. theo couldnt help but to remember that boy he had volunteered for that way blind on his right eye. it was very similar...
sensing that he was far too concerned of his mentality, theo didnt realize of the significant blush he had on his cheeks. and it was all so embarrassing when he realized that he was just pausing there like a total idiot while clair had been asking him an offer for him to drink and to join in the careers.
"u-um. thank you.. clair." theo mumbled, he wasnt expecting to say another words after this, but seemed to see that talking is still a mandatory act. the male gently gripped the tall glass of water in his hands and then slowly, drank the tasteless substance. he thought it would be arrogant enough to drink the whole glass and decided to drink only a quarter of it, the rest he was planning to give it to clair, she seemed to be tired as well.
"o-oh, right. i'm theodore cry f-from three." said the brunette, he seemed to forgot something essential in his speech, but couldnt grasp it fully due to anxiety. but soon, he discovered what he had missed. "you c-can call me theo, i-if you'd like... BUT! that doesnt mean that i'm f-forcing you to call me that! really!" theo started panicking at the end, as he felt like he was sounding so rude and so pressing on that matter.

"Lots of idiots this year." Said Jack with a laugh. He liked Adria and had liked her for a long time but he couldn't tell anyone because Adria had a girlfriend. He just wanted her to be happy so Jack was going to get Adria home to Cecily just like Rowan got Lily home to Almond (but not evil). "So besides the two of us are there anyone else who could be part of the team?"

Scarlet saw Cedric giving Maple a glare. "What is your PROBLEM!" She yelled at him. "IF I SEE YOU GLARING AT MY ALLIANCE AGAIN I WILL RIP OUT YOUR UGLY EYES AND FEED THEM TO THE FISH YOU SO LOVE TO SWIM WITH!" Angrily she turned to Maple. "He is a jerk and obviously will betray us if we let him join. Are you letting that creep in our team?" She realized she was being rude to Maple "Sorry I know it's your choice. So is he in or no?"

Bella just kept staring at Frank

[I just love Bella's reaction to all the drama.]

Maple was exceedingly unamused with the behavior from both parties. "Calm down," she told the raging Scarlet reasonably, before considering her words.
If Cedric was already shooting Maple those impolite glances, he was making no effort to hide his abhorrence towards her. Maple did not feel mutually, because Cedric, like everyone else in the non-Career crowd, was unworthy of her time and hatred. Cedric would, no doubt, attempt to challenge Maple. Scarlet was right; betrayal was a concern as well. The other traitors had hidden their anger, but Cedric's was in plain sight. To preserve the integrity of the team, he would not be allowed to join.
So when Scarlet asked Maple if Cedric would receive admittance into the alliance, Maple's answer was clear and distinct. She made it very apparent she would not change her decision, and Cedric would not recieve a second chance. He had already bought himself an one-way ticket to join the non-Careers.
Too late for Cedric Rex. It wasn't personal, and Maple couldn't care less.
She cared about her alliance, which he was not a part of.
"No."

Clair stifled a laugh when the boy, Theodore, jumped. He reminded Clair of her little brother, Adam; always springing up ten feet in the air whenever she came up to them, and she didn't know what was so scary about her. There was something charming about it, though, and it was kind of cute. Of course, Clair couldn't say that out loud. Now that would be forward. She noticed the boy didn't speak for a period of time, but she didn't mind. Maybe he was thinking about it.
She waited until he thanked her, and with a grin, she replied. "No problem!" She then watched with curiosity as he elegantly sipped a small portion of the glass of water. Everything about him seemed cultured and refined, opposed to Clair's own bluntness and nosiness. She hoped she wasn't coming off as too insolent, but she was genuinely trying to be friendly, so she was confident in the way she was acting. It was impossible for Clair to be worried over anything for long.
Her grin became wider as he introduced himself. Clair had watched the reapings, because she was bored that night and had nothing better to do -- she just couldn't stand being bored. She knew his name, and it was a very... how would she say it... sophisticated name. In a great way.
She started laughing when Theo disclosed his nickname, then began insisting he wasn't trying to be pushy. He was like an adorable puppy that didn't want to get scolded. Clair wanted to give him a hug, but that would probably make him terrified, so she decided not to.
"It's fine, Theo!" she giggled, her face red from her laughter. "I don't get why you're so freaked out. You definitely couldn't make me mad even if you tried, so don't worry!" She found herself wishing that Theo was from her own district, and hadn't immigrated to Three. It would be so fun, just growing up with him; Clair's family knew the Cry family well, but unfortunately, Theo didn't live in Four like the rest of them. Clair didn't know she missed him until she met him.
"Really, you probably wouldn't make me mad even if you had to kill me," she said, still with that ridiculous smile. "If you ever need to, Theo, just ask! I'll probably say yes if you're nice about it."
She was actually telling the truth.
Clair had no fear of the unknown. Just awe, wonder, and lots of curiosity. She didn't know what it was like to die, and she hated not knowing. One day in these Games, she was going to find out. It would be terrifying for many people, but Clair didn't understand why; it didn't scare her at all.
It was just another adventure, and Clair loved adventures.
"Speaking of asking, I already said -- I asked Maple if I could invite you and she said yes. I know I sound pushy, and I am, but it's because you're great and I really want you on our team. All the other Cry family members were part of it, and it would mean a lot if you were, too." She was talking a mile a minute, but that was just who Clair was. "So, how about it? Pretty please with fourteen cherries on top?"

Adria briskly shook her head. "I don't think we should take on any allies this year. We learned our lesson last year with Traitorous Tora." She was sure to add the nickname her younger brother, Asher, had given to the backstabbing girl from Five. "It'll just be me and you, since we can trust each other. However, if someone does indeed want to join us, we can make some room—as long as they prove themselves worthy, and above all, loyal."
After completing her statement, her eyes drifted over the training center as she watched as her fellow tributes trained. It seemed that most of the tributes had already consulted their alliances—and these groups sure were large. There were nearly ten tributes in the Idiot Alliance, and it seemed the Careers had seven and looked to be intentionally excluding the boy from Four.
There must be a reason they aren't allowing him into their alliance, Adria thought. Red flag, then.

As Sally struck her district partner for his insolent words, Ally was thunderstruck. She inched closer to the girl, a sense of security washing over her as she did so. "Thank you for saving me from that disgusting boy," the girl said with a grin, adding a flirty wink before blushing scarlet. "You're my Peacekeeper in shining armor."

theo smiled awkwardly when clair laughed, he wasnt offended actually, he just doesnt know how to react. the male anxiously looked down, hoping the blush on his face would disappear in an instant. there was the cumbersome silence once more, but theo didn't mind it. in fact, it was a bit calming.
"Really, you probably wouldn't make me mad even if you had to kill me, If you ever need to, Theo, just ask! I'll probably say yes if you're nice about it." theo was a bit taken aback by this statement, he was shocked on why was clair so kind him. he felt that it was a bit peculiar but... it was that kind of the nice peculiar feeling, and theo surely, didnt mind. the male then turned his head to clair, offering her the slightest of eye contact.
"well... i j-just hope that we wont end up k-killing one another..." theo said, he shook of this sadness he had with a small, thin smile at clair, hoping that she would get the message. he awkwardly fixed his hair which was wet with sweat, and then planted his palms onto the bench, straightening his back in the process.
"Speaking of asking, I already said -- I asked Maple if I could invite you and she said yes. I know I sound pushy, and I am, but it's because you're great and I really want you on our team. All the other Cry family members were part of it, and it would mean a lot if you were, too. So, how about it? Pretty please with fourteen cherries on top?" clair suddenly said, theo was again, taken off-guard. he almost jumped once more but retained his cool; he knew that clair had asked this earlier but he didnt focus on this part of her offer. the careers... it was of fact that the cry family, especially the girls, were avid participators in the hunger games, gaining high-ranks in the career squad. but him? theodore? what does he possess that could make the career a much more ideal team?
"c-career?" theo stammered, shocked. he bit his lower lip as silently watched the members of the squad from the centre of the room. maple adamson was indeed, terrifying, even the very sight of her in his mind managed to spark horror and fear in theo's core. he originally wanted to decline, but it is of importance to follow the footsteps of his fallen cousins... and...
he had no intentions on disappointing clair.
      "well... i-i reckon i c-can join in..."

Clair nodded eagerly at key points of the conversation. Not killing each other. Got it, she noted. District Four teachings were very black-and-white. Clair knew about District Two customs, which her teacher had spoken about with disgust. Clair couldn't get why; it didn't make sense, how back home, everyone found it a criminal act to finish off a wounded opponent. Poor Ed, her brother who never knew he was her brother, was still considered one of the worst traitors in Hunger Games history.
Clair just didn't get it. All Ed had done was ask his ally to kill him, because of the numerous unpleasant options that seemed to lie in his near future. Not many seemed to understand, barring the few families close to the Grants and Crys, and the others called the boy a 'warmongerer' and a 'spark of treason'. Clair found this funny, because it just didn't work out in her head. It was actually hilarious that Ed was regarded with more disgust in Four than Clark had been.
Clark -- oh, that son of a sea otter! He was the worst, most revolting traitor Clair had ever seen. Three years ago, Clark had won the Games with tremendous dishonor. He had taken everything away from the District Two girl, Apricot, and he had tortured her while managing to prolong her already-lengthy death. Clair actually grinned wider when she thought of this, because she knew that when she died, she was going to find that traitorous swordfish-kisser and tear him some new gills.
Clair tried not to get distracted, but when Theo repeated the word 'Career', it became easy to focus on him. The nervous tension in his face, the anxiety in his eyes as he regarded the team... Clair saw it, but believed that he wouldn't reject the offer, that he would take her up on it and not be alone. Clair hated seeing other people alone, especially because she herself couldn't stand being lonely. She watched Theo with playful curiosity, intrigued at the answer he was about to give.
She almost cheered out loud when he agreed to join. "Good!" she said triumphantly, quickly giving the boy a hug from the side -- an impulsive gesture of joy and kinship -- before standing up. Clair really did love hugs, her entire family did, but she was fast this time to avoid being too awkward. Of course she was already awkward, but she was still happy. "Oooh, I think Maple isn't letting Cedric in," she pointed out. The Adamson woman's body language was obviously forbidding.
"Oh well! Seven's still a good number!" Clair exclaimed. "I am so excited for this thing, you know; if you don't want, you don't have to go over and introduce yourself. I'll tell you about everyone!" She began gesturing wildly as she spoke about the others. "Okay, the girl from District One who just screamed, that's Scarlet. She's really loud but nice. I like her. Then there's her partner, Baux. He's cocky, not as much as me, though, 'cause nobody is as arrogant as me -- but he's still nice. I like him, too. Leo is quiet but still really nice, and Maple is scary but I know she's got to be nice. I like them a lot. And of course, Naomi, she's really, really nice. I really like her, and then there's me, but you know me. And now there's you, and you're one of the nicest people here, so I like you too!" Beaming, she finished her essay.

Sally's face was going red but she brushed it off with a wave of her hand. "Of course. It's the least I could do when something like that is annoying you!" Her voice was still outrageously loud, and could be heard halfway across the Training Center.
Mortimer was done crying, and now was joining in. "Mitchell is just junk mail. Get it, junk male?" He laughed loudly and obnoxiously.
"You are stupid. You are a boy, too," Sally yelled at him, "so you are junk just like him! You are all ugly, the only people here who are not hideous losers are me and this beautiful lady over here."
"Beautiful lady?" Frank said. He dropped onto his knees. "Oh, thank you, master, for that compliment. You are too kind, ma'am, too kind. I have never been called a beautiful lady in my life." He kissed Sally's shoe. "I am indebted to you for eternity."
Sally didn't understand what Frank just said, so she assumed. "Stop saying bad words!" the crazy girl screeched, kicking him in the face as he kissed her foot.

theo smiled as soon as clair cheered in regard to his agreement to join the careers. he expected her to call out, but didnt expect the girl to embrace him n a sudden hug. theo was knocked to the side gently, but he wasnt hurt, he was just a bit shocked. the girl beside him released her embrace, and the regained his current position. he then watched as maple practically threw away the male from four, cedric, from her absolute consideration. this just built up theo's lack of self-esteem when he is to imagine joining the careers.
"I am so excited for this thing, you know; if you don't want, you don't have to go over and introduce yourself. I'll tell you about everyone!" clair literally read theo's mind, he was too scared to introduce himself to the others. what if he said something offensive? what if he is to gain a knife to the throat when speaking of his name or his origin? okay, he admitted it, he was a bit silly about his paranoid stance, but theo's principle is that precautions are something that are always to be considered in a primary motion. nonetheless of his reasons, theo nodded in agreement to clair's offer. now that he thought about it, clair has been giving theo so much and for him only... it felt a bit bizarre for theo, as no stranger in three had ever done the same -- or similar -- thing for him.
"Okay, the girl from District One who just screamed, that's Scarlet. She's really loud but nice. I like her. Then there's her partner, Baux. He's cocky, not as much as me, though, 'cause nobody is as arrogant as me -- but he's still nice. I like him, too. And now there's you, and you're one of the nicest people here, so I like you too!" theo couldnt help but smile, not his regular thin and vague smile, but a smile complimented by his azure eyes. he felt the similar warmth expanding on his cheeks, dusting his face with a cute shade of light red.

[Edit; fixed illegibility by removing the first draft. I don't know why that was there.]

Clair's face seemed to brighten up at Theo's expression. He looked so adorable when his smile reached his eyes, and Clair knew she would never regret inviting him to the team. The warm rosy tinge to his cheeks was quite charming, reminding Clair of the other Cry boys back home; unfortunately she had never spoken to any for more than five minutes. Apparently, she was an intimidating conversational partner. Not many were brave enough to hold a true interchange with her, since Clair never got tired of talking, and listening to her was exhausting. She loved it, though. She loved any sort of attention, it always made her smile, like she was now. Clair couldn't wait to fight beside her new friend.
She had made it her personal mission to befriend Theo, and she felt like she was beginning to succeed. Of course I am succeeding! I'm Clair Grant, she thought, and I never fail!
"You have a nice smile," she pointed out. "I like it. You know, it really brings out your eyes. I love it when people smile, it always makes me happy."
She wondered what it would be like, to die with him smiling at her like that. Would he be smiling, though? He seemed a bit nervous of the idea of killing. No worries, Clair would convince him otherwise. She knew her level of curiosity was unnervingly great, but she couldn't change that about herself, it had always been a part of her. She wouldn't mind at all if that lovely smile was the last thing she saw. It wouldn't be the least bit unpleasant, and she would be just as content as Ed was.
"Maple's the leader, Leo is second in command," Clair continued, still with the same wide grin. She didn't know her exact level of sanity, but she knew not many people were so comfortable with the idea of their own death, but then again -- most people were boring and not curious enough. They are oh-so scared because, oh, look, it's an unfamiliar thing they don't know about! Clair thought, amused. But I'm cool with it because I'm gonna get to know what it's like. I always have to learn new things!
"It's pretty much how it always is. Don't get me wrong, Maple might be tough and scary, but she's an Adamson and they love their teams. No Adamson has ever betrayed, and best of all -- they love you Crys! I think of our families as the four pillars of the Career alliance: Adamson, Brie, Cry, and Grant. It's been so long since one of you came, and I'm sure the team misses you!"

Ally gritted her teeth as Frank took—well, to her, stole the compliment Sally had just given her. "You idiot!" She screeched shrilly. "I'm a beautiful girl! You all wish you could be girls!" After reprimanding those putrid boys, Ally retreated back to where Sally stood.
"We should lead this alliance," she said while lifting her chin. "We can't have some incompetent moron of the male gender have control over it, because boys are stupid and will never be as good as girls. All that these boys are allowed to do is get food for us when we're in the arena. Then, we'll kill them!"

Bauxite glanced toward Cedric as Maple denied his admission into the Careers. As far as he could see, the boy from Four didn't seem to look too intimidating—but, then again, no one scared Baux because he was the scariest. Deciding to impress his fellow Careers, the boy grabbed a knife from a neighboring shelf before striding over to Cedric.
"Hey, you!" Bauxite exclaimed. "Don't you go near my allies. We've gotten talk of you. And guess what we're gonna do? Go on, guess."
He left some time for the boy to choose his words, but not enough for him to complete half a sentence.
"We're gonna kill you. You got that? Can you hear me?"
Baux tilted the blade of the knife downward so that it was only a few centimeters from between Cedric's eyes.
"I said, do you got that?"

Angelina:

Angel started to slow down then came to a complete stop. She decided to take a break from running so she walked over to a wall and just sat down. She looked around at the other tributes just to see what everyone was doing and what certain people were good at. It wasn't like her to just sit back and relax even if it looked like she was doing absolutely nothing she was taking notes in her head and trying to see what people did well and what people did not so well.
