The stranger seemed less burdened, as if she had just done him a favour. She wrinkled her green nose, where all the people here so appreciative? She would probably enjoy it at first, if they were, but she was pretty sure it would get on her nerves later on. It seemed slightly unnatural, for reasons she could
not explain. The human race was born as selfish creatures, and could being half human weaken that primal nature?
She resisted the urge to give her own sigh, she was overthinking again. She had to stop doing that, for overthinking meant slow reaction, and such things could not be afforded in battle. She finally quelled her thoughts enough to realize he had spoken. “Oh, you are welcomed.”
Her earlier assumptions seemed to have been proven wrong. He was looking for the tower at the opposite side of the school, not for some girl. She supposed showing him to the other side would allow her to re-check those hallways for something she had missed, like a small but easy escapeway. “I suppose I
could bring you there. Follow me.”
She set off, turning on her heel and striding in the general direction of West. She looked back a brief moment, assuring herself the stranger was following, so that she wasn’t wasting time on nothings. Since she was looking back, she thought she might as well talk. “I am Ivy, in case you were wondering.”
As soon as he was in reach, he grabbed that juicy hamburger he had spotted before. He also grabbed a plateful of fries, munching down on one as he continued moving up the lines, obviously not thinking about politeness. “Well I suppose they could have, but a lot of girls just seem to have issues dancing with
guys who are shorter than them. I feel bad for any guy under six feet tall.”
“And I doubt you have been stepped on by them. I mean sure, I hear girls complain about wearing heels a bunch, but no foot cramp compares to your toe being jabbed repeatedly. It’s like shoes have a vendetta against toes, and just want to make them blue .” He added, smirking as he grabbed a can of Coke.
Ah how he loved the first day of cafeteria food. They did their best to impress the newcomers, although that was usually dropped within a week.
He thought about her offer, and glanced at the quickly overcrowding cafeteria. “I think I’ll have to take you up on that offer.” He said as he swiped his card and offered her a grin.
