Evolia rolled her eyes, swiping her tail lightly over her brother's hand (or paw). "You guys act like we've hiked all around the world," she joked despite the gnawing pain in her muscles and scrapes, "Just past here..."
Once the three wolves had disapeared, two silent figures dropped from the trees. These wore cloaks instead of darkness, one a little taller and more stockier than the other, who had femine curves. The male was the first to reach the body of Half-Blood. He fell to his knees, the hood covering his face slipping back to reveal a sharp features, high cheek bones. He had no hair, and peircings snapped his eye brows and ears. A stud on his lower lip trembled along with an open mouth, a silent wail.
The female slid to his side, taking her hood off and bowing her head, her long purple hair spilling over her own, triangular face and covering heavily mascaira'd eyes.
"Finsad...I'm so sorry," she whispered when all that came out the man's mouth was a weak croak. Finsad, the man, threw back his head and let out a small cry of pain.
"Half Blood!" he nearly screamed. His voice wavered, but tears didn't form in his eyes, proclaiming his age.
"It was that white beast that killed him," the woman continued, reaching out a huge, talon-like hand and stroking Half Blood's face. His eyes were wide open and cloudy. Blood oozed from the gaping mouth in his chest, the huge slashes Ruth inflicted revealing meat and bone raked aside like it was paper.
"Why..?" Finsad whimpered, "He was so young...So new and promising! Why?!"
"I don't know," she drawled, eyeing Tsarna's body, the head crushed and brains dripping in a huge puddle on the dirt, "But I had a feeling Tsarna started it. Unless...they took Blood Lust's joke seriously?"
"He only said to test the wolves!" Finsad wailed, clutching the sides of his face with clawed fingers and looking clearly demented as he stared down at Half Blood's body, "Damn Tsarna! My aprentace...Why him?"
"Tsarna got what she deserved..." The woman started, but Finsad wasn't listening,
"He was only infected a few weeks ago! What'll I tell the Clan? What'll I tell his mother?! If that stupid cur wasn't so scared of Death, then he'd be alive now! Stupid, witless, dumb brute!"
"Finsad," the woman said softly, "None of this is your fault-"
"Glara! I couldn't stop Tsarna from walking off with him! I thought it would be ok...and look what happened! Both of the most useful Clan members lie dead because of me! Tsarna and my newest aprentace..." he bent down and rested his forehead on Half Blood's.
"Did you hear what Master said?" Glara pressed gently, "I think he know's that beast."
"Do I care? I thought Master trusted us, his messengers of Life Ending...and now he's sent that hell beast on my only apprentace! He's trying to break me, Glara, because of how we cheated him. I just know it..." Finsad cried in despair, "Half Blood! Oh why you, poor boy, poor boy..."
The female vampire looked down at Finsad, knowing his shoulders were trembling with sobs even though the tears wouldn't come out. There was a certain age in a vampire's immortaility when you grow heartless and dried eyed forever. This sorrow inflicted when Half Blood died must have severed some of that, but the tears of sadness would forever be gone.
After a few mournful moments, Finsad said quietly, "They'll pay for this. All of them, including that panther...He was the one to lead them here."
Glara nerely hung her head in submisson. Just before going out to check on Half Blood, they were confronted by a huge, midnight blue panther with pine green eyes that glowed with a rougish behavior. She never seen one up close before, and she was quiet surprised to see it had a huge pair of purple black wings of the demon type. Glara could tell it was only there to mess with them, that was, until he led them to the gorunds Half Blood was killed. Where the beast was now was only a matter of guess.
Evolia stopped as she led them past two huge oak trees. Lifting a clawed paw, she carefully pulled back a few shrubs to reveal the huge clearing unfolding before their eyes.
It was really wide, about five acers and grassy for the most part. Just nearest to the south part where they viewed her Clan grounds rested a small pound with a silver vien of river flowing into it. The west part held a large, half earth swallowed cave that jutted out like a head, open mouthed and black as pitch inside. The east held a clean deep where there was a clay-like field. North blocked the path leading far towards the mountains with a huge, rust colored stone with a hole bored into the middle. Evolia pushed the shrubs aside and walked into the center of the Clan grounds, opening her mouth and letting her tongue slip out to taste the wind bristling by.
Her tail wiggled a bit, then flicked towards them, but she didn't turn to them.
"What'dya think?" She asked quietly, knowing their keen sences could pick out her voice easily. That was the best thing about the wolf side of her. Her human side had such a quiet, minnow voice that many people in her human life kept rudely asking her to speak up or simply ignore her. As a wolf, she could talk nearly as low and softly as she could want and still hear it as if her muzzle was close to the ear.
Oh wait, human...She felt uncomfortable now. Eventually they would expect her human form to be revealed. She wasn't too sure that was keen, since it was like unvieling a secret best kept away in darkness. This form, this human form, was nothing but a momento. Something to remind her that she wasn't a pure carrier of the Redmoon way of life. Pure blooded, yes, but the tradition and burned away along with the wryvn fire. The fire they didn't breath but started. She would have to remember as much as she could and maybe create new ones. New traditions...And what about the Redmoon Clan language? That was something Evolia feared the other two didn't know at all very well. She knew it by heart, but it would be hell trying to teach. She wasn't good at explaining things or having the patients.
"Zirr?" (Well?) she tossed over her shoulder at the two, using her language skills. Actually, it was a form of Redmoon Clan language used in the nursery for small pups. It was quite simple and easy to decode. "Isilhui ofccg uhz?" (Everone happy now?) The words sounded expertly voiced and she made odd clicks with her fangs. Let's see them get that.
