Alice continued to watch the ferret-girl and was shocked when she turned into a human again and donned a scientist's lab coat. She was even more surprised when the girl found a key ring to the desk and nodded pleasantly when the girl -- Was he name Sam or something? -- dropped the keys into her hand. "Yes. They are very useful. Now, to find the desk," she said, reading the label. Alice looked around in the creepy half-light, searching for anything even remotely desk-like. It helped when some crazy Asian dude woke up and ran over to a boy, making the lights brighten the slightest bit so she could actually see the shape of the desk on the far wall. She walked over to it with determination, trying several locked drawers before finding one that the first key fit into. She pulled it open, revealing huge files with names on them -- likely the names of everyone in the room. Mikhail Johnson, Jacob Thomas, Samantha Wali, just to name a few. Alice pulled out a file with her name on it and studied it, finding a picture of herself and a more in-depth description of her than was on the paper outside her pod. She put it back down and decided to study it later, having heard Mikhail's voice again.
Can't she stay off me for ten seconds while I search this desk? Alice thought, turning to Mikhail, her face awash with her ire, frustration, and annoyance. She growled and tried to breathe slowly so she wouldn't end up pulling her bow out and shooting Mikhail within the next few seconds, doubting Mikhail would have the intention to stay dead, anyway. She glared menacingly at Mikhail, wishing to shoot her down but knowing that it wouldn't be a good course of action if she would like to survive more than a few days. "Look here. I'm not the one trying to make things difficult and ordering everyone in the room. All you seem to be doing at the present is standing there arguing with me, while Sam and I have found the keys to that desk over there, which may likely hold the key to our escape. As far as I'm concerned, this place isn't safe at all, and it's doubtful that there is actually anything here that can sustain life anymore. There are cracks in the walls and ceiling, live wires are spitting sparks everywhere, and it doesn't look livable at all to me. We should find a way to get out of here as quickly as possible, and I believe searching this desk would be the place to start, unless you have a better idea," she said, making it clear by her tone that she was in no mood to hear any more nonsense from Mikhail or anyone else in the room.
With that, Alice turned her back to Mikhail and continued pawing through the various files until she discovered something at the back of the drawer -- another key. It was too small to be the door key, and too big to be another desk key, so what could it be useful for? Alice decided it was time to put the second key on the keyring to good use and try to unlock another drawer. Maybe that drawer would have whatever this new key could unlock. She tried a few more drawers and discovered a halfway-open one with a key already in it, and opened it the rest of the way to discover a pile of paper and a metal box labeled Untested DNA Samples. Alice unlocked it with the new key and discovered a set of bottles, each with a name on them, like the files in the other drawer. They all had DNA samples in them -- hair, nails, skin, or some other type of sample that the scientist might be able to use. Alice shrugged and laid it on top of the desk, not knowing what to do with it. She heard a clunk as she put the box on the desk and looked up to discover a dusty laptop on the desk. She opened it, expecting to see a screen demanding the password, but instead, she found the screen covered by a piece of paper saying:
DOOR CODE
CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+147693FV677
Alice stepped back from the laptop as if it had said WARNING! PLAGUE HERE! and stared at it oddly, wondering what it meant. She was confused; she hadn't exactly done that much with computers before and wasn't sure what it meant. She had always done better mixing chemicals and making explosives in science class. Not that she remembered that, though; she still had no idea what her past had been like and was confused because of her amnesia. Then Alice realized with a start that the entire keypad, both on the door and on the computer, had been blown out. There goes that idea, she thought. Let's see if there's anything in this room that will pry open that door over there.
