Clara wasn't watching where she was going and bumped into something solid. When she backed up a little, the realized it was Corvo. "Hey!" she said, happily. "I haven't seen you in a while. I haven't seen you either, River. I guess I've just been so busy lately."

"Hey," River said, continuing on toward the cafe. Just like Corvo, she was starving and no one was going to get in the way of her food.
"Were going to the café, do you want to come? "

Corvo smiled at Clara with a friendly attitude. "Life makes it hard to keep in touch, huh?" he agreed, giving a short nod. The same feeling of uncertainty washed over him when he was with both Clara and River again. He knew how they felt and had never really uncovered how he felt himself. He brushed that off, now was not the time to contemplate deeper matters. Food was what mattered. "I say we pick up the pace, ladies!" he declared. "I am starving and ready to eat something warm!"

"Sure," Clara shrugged. "I'm sure Mac's got his hands full with Gaia the carnivore. I think when she's a teenager she's going to eat him out of house and home." She smiled at Corvo and jogged after him.

"Oh no! Nah ah! You don't get to walk away from me!" She got to her feet and quickly followed after him. "Not after you scared the bejeezus out of..." She never finished her sentence. A sharp pain shot through her side. She looked down at herself stunned. What had just happened? But when she looked down, the hilt of a small dagger protruded from her flesh. She had been so distracted by the lion, that she hadn't heard the approach of a hunter. Maybe more. She had no idea because she was paying more attention to a shy lion than her own safety. She fell to her knees, clutching at the knife. She looked at him, her eyes full of pain, but determination. "Ill darken..." she gasped for breath. "the forest." Another sucked in breath. "You can see... in the dark. Find them." She fell back against a tree and closed her eyes as darkness and shadows poured from her hands and filled the forest for a two mile radius. She couldn't fight. Her side hurt so bad.

Drew darted to her side, looking around.He phased,kneeling beside her."You sure?"He asked,frowning.Though he could pin point them already, she didnt want to leave this girl alone in pain.

River opened the door to the cafe and sat down in the same booth they always did-the one that was next to the window that looked out to the forest.
"What do you guys want?"

"How is Gaia? Still as much of a troublemaker as always?" Corvo inquired before taking a seat on the opposite side of the booth, allowing the two females to sit together. He entertained himself by shredding a napkin as usual then shot River a wolfish grin. "What do you think? I want some waffles of course!" he answered her question. It was only on special occasions that he didn't get waffles from that specific cafe.

"You never know when it might be obe of those special occasions," River said casually as she picked up the menu and scanned it, only to decide on her usual potatoes and French toast

She nodded once. She was getting weaker by the moment. It didn't hurt so much anymore, but of course that was due to the adrenaline being pumped through her system. "You have to. They could come back or hurt someone else. I'll be fine, I swear."
