"Kiyoko," Bakura greeted, smiling, "I didn't know you were here too. I came for a dueling tournament set up by the Kaiba's. What about you?"

"Oh, I don't know. I just came for my summer break vacation, that's all. I needed a break from Japan, you know?" Kiyoko replied. Taking advantage of the moment, she slowly reached over and took Ryou's hand in hers.

Ryou didn't take notice, his eyes still on the ancient pyramids. His eyes siddenly went wide, pained.
"I-I'm sorry," he stammered suddenly, in a rush, "But I have to go." Without a word, he ran away, holding his head as though in pain. Once out of sight in an empty tent, Ryou crumpled to the floor.
"No..." he murmured in his light voice, before the Millenium Ring began to glow, Yami Bakura beginning to take over...

"Ryou..." Kiyoko stared after the boy. This was typical of him, but it was still strange. Why did he always run off? What was wrong with him? Kiyoko had always wanted to know, but could never find a delicate way to bring up the question to Ryou.

"Please, no..." Ryou managed to say, the Millenium Ring glowing brighter and brighter. He tried to fight it, but deep down Ryou knew that the spirit of the Millenium Ring always won, and always would. The tent he was in was pitch black, and slowly, he stood, and a demonic cackle escaped his lips, now taken over.

Kiyoko followed the footprints left in the Egyptian sand by Ryou, which ended at a small tent.
"Hey, Ryou?" she called. "Are you in there? You okay?"

"Why yes," came an unfamilliar voice. Out of the gloom stalked Yami Balura, gaze cold and calculating, his voice altered completely, along with some of his features. "I'm more than fine," he cackled.

Gasping, Kiyoko took a step back. This man looked like Ryou, but more...sinster, evil...his voice deeper, one that Kiyoko knew was not to be trusted. There was a glowing sort of ring around his neck, one that she never had seen Ryou wearing.
"You," she stammered. "You-you're not Ryou.. where did he go? Who are you?"

[nothanks]

"I have no time for you," Bakura growled, shoving past the friend of Ryou. "If you're a friend of Ryou, his soul is my prisoner." He continued to walk quickly towards the pyramids.

As the mysterious figure walked away, Kiyoko tried to process what he had said. Ryou's soul, his prisoner? It made no sense...
