Iris was born outside of Japan, she spent most of her childhood in New Zealand, the country in which she was born. Eventually her family moved to Japan, because Iris' father was expected to take over the family business shortly before Iris turned nine, because her uncle had been killed in a nasty accident. Since age nine she has been attending Ouran Acadmey and is thriving there. Because of her growing up in New Zealand, she speaks English fluently as well as Japanese and a little bit of Maori. She joined the female host club only recently and is still learning the ropes.
