✘--Ren Teod and Ailla
captain of the cavalry ✘ Gil'ead ✘ Sardonyx Crimson
Ren felt the blade hit his hip and swerved to the left like a drunken sailor, losing his balance and concentration. He cursed himself silently for letting his intentions be known. That was the second time she had landed a blow to his missing, seemingly bumbling swings of the ruby red blade. Ren searched his brain for the answer, for a move that would surely allow him to penetrate her carefully planned guard. Ailla? A little help might be nice, he thought, glancing at his dragon.
Use the arena. Look for something other than just swordsmanship, especially since her skill is quite level with your own, Ailla suggested, flicking her tail like a great cat. It was obvious that she was not impressed with her rider's ornery attitude, and would undoubtedly give him a pice of her mind on the flight back to the garrison.
This is her territory! She knows it much better than I do, Ren said, again parrying one of Sardonyx's blows. I need something new and unused.
You also need to go off the defense, and start landing a few swipes yourself. Maybe forget the sword all together and get in with hand-to hand.
Ren thought about that for a moment. Her blade was much thinner than his; he was at a disadvantage when it came to speed and agility. Plus, her blade was dulled, so if he came in close contact with it, instead of slicing his armor, it would merely bruise. Still, it was never something Ren had even considered trying before. Well, he thought, excited, there's a first time for everything.
This time, instead of going for a broad strike, Ren ducked her rapier and swung his arm around, attempting to hit Sardonyx in the shoulder. She may be faster, but Ren was taller and fundamentally stronger. He would need to use this to his advantage.
✺-- Bo Faer Dsatl and Evira
neutral rider ✺ Gil'ead ✺ Nazaroth
"I sometimes wish that we as dragons were as graceful as they can be," Evira said, focused on Ren and Sardonyx. "We fly like eagles through the clouds, but they have a simple agility about them that makes them so endearing," she continued. "Well, humans, anyways. My Bo is quite...lumbering." Evira nudged the disgruntled dwarf sitting at her feet affectionately.
Was that a remark on my weight, 'Vira? Because I'm quite thin for a dwarf. You should see my uncle Vinny!
'Course not, Bo. I love you just the way you are, Evira told him, breathing warm air across his ruffled and singed beard. Do you think you should help Ren?
Nah. He's got it well enough on his own...wait, what's he doing? Is he trying to punch her? That idiot. I'll gladly see how this one turns out WITHOUT having to bear the blonde lady's wrath. Ren's ego needs to be deflated a bit.
