"I can take care of myself," Za'ji said, her hands finally going to the daggers underneath her dress. "And besides, the Brotherhood is stronger than last time. We won't be put to the torch so easily again." Despite her indignance at Za'zah's assumption that she was some helpless girl in over her head, it was nice to know that his attraction to her wasn't diminished by the fact that she was who she was. She almost felt like she might be able to love him too, now.

"Katarina was the one who gave me the assignment to begin with," Za'ji said. "She may not agree with my methods, but my results are unquestionable. Even the listener knows better than to gainsay the word of the Night Mother herself. Besides, I knew the risks of what I was doing. If I take a dagger in the back tonight, I'll be taking it's wielder down with me. If I don't, well, that just gives the brotherhood more time to prepare. With any luck, this marks the end of the Penitus Oculatus in Skyrim."

(Sorry, I hope this makes up for my slow reply.)
Gale's smile brightened at his words. "Thanks for the mead," He said earnestly, before Zachariah whipped around to face a girl he'd never met. Apparently, Zachariah knew a lot more that Gale anticipated, and he kept his head down, taking frequent swigs and hoped that no one other than those sitting at the bar would try to talk to him. Without his armor, he was rather horrible at conversations, or human interaction in general.
Soon, the mead most mostly gone, and he too felt the affects of it. Sitting his bottle down with a soft clink, he watched their conversation grow even more dangerously romantic with each-other. If they fell in love, they'd be the most deadly power-couple in Tamriel. A pang in his chest arose, but he couldn't turn away, in the same manner as a person couldn't turn away from a dragon attack. It was horrible, and destructive, and it was giving Gale a mix of emotions he wasn't familiar with. A-am I loosing Zach? A thought popped into his head and his gloved hand wrapped around his mead bottle, so tightly he could break it. Lose him how? I-- He's my friend! He's my... He tried to remain stoic, but a hint of pain crept it's way unto his face. I can't do this. Sweet, sweet Mara, I can't do this. Please. A near silent intake of breath was all the reaction Gale would allow as the Listener leaned forward towards Zach, far enough that their lips touched. That was it; the first kiss, they were going to fall in love, and Zach would forget all about him. It was at that moment that Gale felt game pain so sharp he thought he'd been shot in the chest, but there were no visible wounds. There was a tightness in his throat as he stumbled off his barstool, mumbling a quick excuse about feeling ill, and bolted from the Bee and Barb, afraid to see anything else. He didn't bother his stairs this time; he simply leapt over the railing and landed on the lower catwalk, whole body quivering from overwhelming emotion.
Reaching underneath his shirt collar, he hesitated for a moment before he tore a necklace from his neck, holding the limp piece of jewelry in a tight fist, pieces of it littering the boardwalk until he pushed them into the canal with his boot. It was an Amulet of Mara, something he always wore but had always been to afraid to show. Holding it over the water with a quivering hand, he started to tear up. A nightgale like himself wasn't meant to feel Mara's gaze, or at least that's how he felt. His fingers slowly uncurled from the piece, one by one, until it made a dive into the waters of the canal. Covering his eyes with his forearm, he walked away, shoulders shaking. Hopefully no one would find him in the ratway.

(That post is depressing omg.)
Zachariah practically fell out of the chair when Katarina pounced on him, but otherwise kissed her back. He smiled into the kiss, a red flush covering his otherwise pale complexion. He broke the kiss off with a startled expression when he heard Gale get up and leave, and he swiveled around in his chair so that he was facing the direction the other Nightingale had been in. "Gale? Where are you - " but he had already left the bar. Zachariah trailed off with a frown. Had he said something to upset his friend? He didn't know what he did wrong; all he did was kiss Katarina, after all. He bit his lower lip, turning back to Katarina. "I ... I ... Well, I didn't know you were into five hundred year old men," he teased in an attempt to make the uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach go away.
