The doctor continued on, but hearing Vesta stop, froze as well, and cocked his head to one side to listen, slipping a hand into the pocket that held his sonic.

The Barron listened as hard as she could; the silence within her brought back memories of her life before becoming a Timelord. She ignored them and tried to reach out mentally. The Doctor had done this once or twice, and she wanted to try it...

He turned and "Ah ha." he cried as the Barron reached out to his mind, "You are far to oblique miss Barron." he said grinning now, looking right at her, "Always reach under, not at the mind." apparently he would be teaching her before he knew her.

She scowled at him, unsure what he knew of her at this point in his time. "So much for hiding..." She peeled herself off the wall and let her hearts start up again. The sudden rush of blood flow made her a bit dizzy and she leaned heavily against the wall. "So, Doctor, you know my name. Anything else?"

"A bit of history, you have some decent walls up in your mind, although I could slip past them if I tried a little harder, but that is half the fun, figuring things out." he said, "Now, we are going to find the engine room, figure out what tie these beings are from, where and what they are, and tell them to leave." he said, walking off, "C'mon Vesta."

Baron looked exasperated as she pushed herself off the wall and tottered after them. She caught her breath and quickly followed by her balance. She put up some more sufficient mental barriers. She knew exactly how to block him out from the years that they had shared that annoying mental link.

He looked around, looking for the engine rooms. Something that would tell him for sure when it came from.

Baron got bored as they stood there and tried some of her old techniques for getting information from his mind. It was only slightly different, she discovered, and attempted to get used to it.

He slammed mental barriers around his mind, "try elsewhere if you info from me." he said, angrily.

"Ooh, not quite as absent-minded as Fourteen, then I see," she said, most amused at all of this. She was almost giggling at this point. So much fun messing with time lines...
