the address from mira was pleasant. perhaps it would have been nicer in a different set of circumstances, but there was no knocking it now. he shook his head at the prospect of being in some kind of entanglement with ash, eyes widening a little. "no. no, nothing like that. he's just only seen one film, i think. threw me a bit," he said, pulling a bit of a face. "still. i think i'll just end up strapping him to the roof if he starts being a nuisance. if we attach some kind of artillery weapon on top, then he can fend off any creatures that try following us on the motor - highway. or just blow up some tailgaters." he offered a little shrug.

"it is. nice to meet you, mirabelle," he said, shaking her hand. "go on, then." as her request took form, he nodded, slowly beginning to understand the nature of the question. it appeared that she was digging herself quite the hole. "woah -" he said, a little attempt to prevent further spiral. "that's fine. you can be map duty, if you can hack it. i know it can be weird, motion sickness. i'll try not to do any handbrake turns. no promises, though. if i think it'll look really cool, it might be irresistible." he was joking, of course, but just to lighten the mood a little.

it wasn't long before a girl was approaching, complaining about something that teilo had absolutely no idea about. politely, he stepped back to allow the solution to be found between them aware that there wasn't much that he could offer in that department. his eyes met the pegasus again, and it seemed to dare him closer. fine. he was alright with playing that game. "alright, bud?" he muttered under his breath as he approached, aware of how odd it may have seemed if he was any louder with his greeting. his hand extended to allow the stallion a smell of him. "i would say 'you'll do', but i think you were saying that to me, weren't you?"

as she loaded the gun, celeste found herself considering the last time she had used it. there was a thin film of dust on the barrel that she dusted with the wrist of her sleeve. it hadn't truly aged, not the way the rest of the world had, and in its way, she thought that it was rather similar to her. an item of kinship. it had, for a time, been the only objective thing that she could hold some trust in. with its new ammo, it was certain to serve her well.

she looked up when ophelia appeared to address her, looking between the pistol and her sister. "i won't need the practice" she asked, a little smile glimmering. "but it might be worth it. just for the joy." for a while, she considered it. "the noise, though. will it not make people nervous to hear the shots?" it certainly had done for her when she hadn't been the person with their finger on the trigger. "the last thing i want to do is cause a commotion." maybe that wasn't necessarily true, but it was best to stay conscientious on the matter.

"you're right. i didn't think that you would be in on the entrepreneurial stuff so early. i - i really have to apologise for assuming the worst of you. it's a bad trait to have," leo said, eyebrows quirking when caleb once more used the opportunity to play a game of narcissism that wasn't certain in its genuineness. there had come no true answer when it came to that. it seemed a difficult mask to keep up permanently, but if it was trained, then that was a different story.

he hadn't really thought about weddings before - they'd never particularly been in his purview. in all his years, he could only think of one that he had attended, and that was when he was a child, when his mother was pregnant with his baby brother. he had no recollection of the event, just knew about it from photos that his happier, rounder face had been grinning in. the thought made his expression pensive momentarily, but it faded as soon as it came, attentions turned to caleb's apparent proficiency with machines. "i thought that was more of a hephaestus thing. but i'll take your word for it," he still wasn't well-versed when it came to mythology, shamefully, even despite it being his heritage.

"oh, was he? did he deserve it?" he asked, playing along a lot more openly. "i thought you'd have liked the attention from him. maybe he was just trying to prove a point to you." the story of the dog leash and the toupee made him chuckle. he had no stories like that from his school days. he had hardly any of them to harken upon. most of the time, he had been in the fields, or in an isolated room to account for his 'distracting' or, on occasion, 'delinquent' behaviour. "i think that i can look past it. everyone has their own little dark past. it would be hypocritical of me to call it all off just because you accidentally tried to kill someone in cold blood when you were younger. it's just a flaw i'll have to look past."

| Henry "Hank" Walker | 17 | He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: Cabin 7--> Cabins | tags: Caleb, Leonidas, open!

Hank was drawn out of his thoughts by two dudes having a heated conversation. He paused, wondering if this was something he should break up. That one's an Ares kid... Liam or something? but they're aren't postured quite like it. He paused and watched them, trying to make sense of the odd tension around them.

Honeymoon? He frowned, reaching a hand up to scratch his neck. He had yet to see these two doing couple things, and surely the Aphrodite kids would've been all too happy to point it out? Must've missed that. He shrugged, approaching slowly. Might not be such a bad idea, marrying before you have a chance to die. YOLO an' all that. He tapped the brawny kid gently. "Hey, I just wanted to say congrats, on the wedding an' all." He offered kindly, smiling gently at the couple.

the sudden presence behind leo set a fire in his mind in the worst possible way.
for hank, that was. for leo, it was all just instinctual movement. he didn't even catch what the boy said - just that he had taken him by surprise, and that was not to be done. at least he would look back on this moment retrospectively and learn to announce his arrival before jumping into a conversation that he was not anticipated in.

leo span around, left fist already clenched and freed from its fabric prison, and without thinking, he was sending a hook toward the jaw that, upon impact, sent a spark of pain through the base of his hand that was so familiar that it almost felt nostalgic. that wasn't him done, though - with his right hand, he gripped the son of apollo's shoulder, using the adrenaline-fuelled momentum to sweep his foot under unanticipating feet - an effort to land him square on his back, if he had done it right. it had been a long time.

the red cleared. the fire snuffed. leo's eyes widened a bit as he looked upon what he had done. "oh," he breathed, blinking a few times to clear the haze. "you shouldn't sneak up on people." that wasn't much by way of an apology. he tried again. "sorry. i - i didn't mean... to do that." well, he did, somewhere - otherwise he wouldn't have been so quick, trained about it - but not outwardly. it was poor form, taking down someone who wasn't anticipating it. he'd have to work on that a bit. at least he hadn't had the time to reach in the pocket that held his knuckle dusters - it would have likely been a much uglier sight.

[]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|Cabins area|Tags:Leonidas, Hank

“It’s alright, that’s something we can work through. Marriage is about learning to work together or something isn’t it? I’m sure we’ll have lots of time to clean up all your faults.” His eyes flashed with amusement, clearly teasing, though none of this conversation had actually been serious from the beginning anyways.

“It is, usually,” he said in response to machinery being a Hephaestus thing. “Guess I’m just special,” he added with a cocky little smile. In all honesty, he wasn’t the greatest with big machinery or things like that. It was more the invention side of it, hence why he roped some of the children of Hephaestus into helping him with his creations now and then, but he didn’t think it could be that hard.

“Oh I like attention, but only when it comes along with heavy praise and admiration. Or at least a little shock value. This guy was just a jerk.” He nodded solemnly. “Good, good. That’s great. Glad we can be open about things like this. This is really the foundation of a healthy marriage.”

He’d been so drawn into the conversation, that he hadn’t noticed the nearly silent son of Apollo creeping up until the boy was right behind Leonidas. He opened his mouth to say something but before he had the chance, Leo had whirled around and socked the kid in the face, giving the exact reaction Caleb had expected upon himself at the start of their interaction. His eyes widened, jaw dropped in stunned silence. “There it is,” he muttered weakly, too shocked by the sudden aggression to actually say or do anything useful.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Stables|Tags: Dahlia, Aggy, Jamie, Aiden, Skylar, Teilo, Ash, Karter|

As Teilo talked about strapping Ash to the roof of the car, the image of a demigod taking out monsters with an entire ballista sticking off of the top of a vehicle flashed through her mind. Mirabelle couldn't help but laugh again, heartier this time. She internally groaned as the girlish noise pierced the air. She had always felt self-conscious about the way it sounded, but now, that self-consciousness had grown into a bitter hatred, fueled by the cruel comments from her own cabinmates over the years. Not only that - it was a sour reminder of more carefree times.
Pure relief shone in Mirabelle's eyes when Teilo agreed to her suggestion, and even offered her the position of navigator. "I - um - thank you." The look she gave him was enough to say how much she really meant it. "I actually have a roadmap in my backpack," she mentioned, grateful for Teilo's joking to lighten the mood. "I figured we would need something of the sort. I can certainly play navigator, at least for a while." Reading or any sort of looking down wasn't necessarily a good idea, she knew. But the moment she got remotely nauseous, she could just pass the map off to someone else, right?
Even just admitting that she got motion-sick in the first place had left her feeling uncomfortably vulnerable. As such, Mirabelle was almost grateful for Aggy's interruption. Immediately, the mask of sunshine and rainbows was back up, shaping her lips into a friendly smile as usual. It wasn't entirely ingenuine; she really did enjoy interacting with others. Any trace of her internal nervousness was gone now.
"Oh! That's called a bit, and it goes in the horse's mouth. Here, do you want me to show you how to put a bitted bridle on?"

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 3|Tags: Sa'd, Zahra --> Hu, Caspia|

Juliet nodded slowly while she listened to Sa'd and Set speak. She crossed her arms tighter over her chest as she regarded this newcomer - another adult, she noticed. And a rather alluring one at that. Sporting a tight burgundy t-shirt and a pair of black jeans, with a really awesome black leather jacket around her shoulders. Fingers covered in golden rings, a lion's head pendant dangling around their neck. Her golden eyes framed with black eyeliner. And were those combat boots? Man, Juliet wished she looked that cool. She felt dull by comparison, with her beat-up jeans and holey purple sweater. Her aviator jacket was pretty sweet, she reckoned. That ought to earn her some 'cool' points at least.
"Trading instead of taking... yeah, I can swing that." Juliet shifted on her feet. "Colourful rocks you say..." A sinister look crossed her face. A plan was starting to formulate in her brain of how to trick the gryphon, though she'd have to run it by Hu first. Oh, and Caspia, if she was the pranking type. "Yeah, sure. I'll tell ya how it goes." She waved offhandedly, though she would probably forget her agreement the moment Sa'd left.
"Anyways, good to meetcha, sad dude. And chaos guy or whatever. See you around. Or maybe not." She shrugged, her typical air of nonchalance doing its work. "And you too, I guess." The latter was directed at the adult and the weird girl following her around, though Juliet hadn't caught either's name. All in all not a big deal. She probably would've just forgotten their names anyways.

||Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Outside Dining Pavilion|Tags: Yuno|

"Like, thanks, man!" Chuck bleated, breaking into a grin. "You have like, no idea how relieving it is to hear that, you know?" He watched as Yuno jotted something down, absently chewing on his sleeve. Always organised, that one. They reminded him of Mira in that sense - though Mira tended to have a mental checklist rather than a physical one. He absently wondered if Mira's mental checklist was colour-coded and had little sticky notes all over it.
"Uh, so like, where do we even start?" Chuck shuffled his hooves in the snow. "We can totally like, get the other satyrs to help and stuff, most of them are like, trying to anyways, I think." He'd seen a few fellow satyrs out in the woods, mostly consoling dryads and attempting to offer help, though they had seemed a bit confused as to how exactly to do so.

||Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Outside Cabin 3 --> Behind Cabins|Tags: Jay, Sa'd/Set|

Zahra was a bit miffed at being called a 'girl' by the chaos god - she was two hundred and seventeen years old, for crying out loud. That, and they weren't fully a woman to begin with. Sure, she had been using 'she/her' pronouns more in her head that day, but that tended to fluctuate depending on how they felt. Nonetheless, the Eye of Sekhmet led the Host of Set and their accompanying god behind a row of buildings, which Chiron had called 'cabins' earlier. Zahra thought that was rather funny - the only building that looked cabin-like in any regard to her was the one the aforementioned gryphon was seated outside. They checked back to make sure that Jay was following; she and Anubis should hear this information as well.
When they were far enough out of earshot of any demigods, Zahra stopped walking and turned to face the three. "Jay and Anubis, I believe, have already made my acquaintance, but allow me to introduce myself. I am Zahra Abubakar Nashwa Al-Amin, Magician of the Ninth Nome and current Eye of Sekhmet. I wish there were time for more formalities, but I must 'get to the point', as they say." Her tone was clear and sharp, but not unkind. Their mixed Arabic-London accent had thickened in her haste, and they hoped the three could comprehend what she was saying. "Set, Anubis - we need your help. The Duat is in chaos - almost literally, I'm afraid. You two recall the Ogdoad, though I am uncertain if your Hosts have recollection. Hosts, do either of you know of the Ogdoad? I can explain briefly if I must."

At Jay's admission, Zahra's face grew almost disappointed. "I see. They must not be teaching the Ogdoad cosmology in your Nome. Shame on them." She hadn't necessarily meant it in a mean nor chastising way, but it certainly came out that way. "The Ogdoad are eight gods; the first gods. They were born of the Sea of Chaos and are thought to be extensions of Isfet itself." She paused to let that sink in. "The eight are as follows. Nun and Naunet; the gods of chaos and water, Heh and Hauhet; gods of boundlessness, Kuk and Kauket; gods of darkness, and Amun and Amaunet; gods of invisibility, of air, and void. They are frog and snake gods respectively. " She watched the two teenagers' faces as she continued. "Something has greatly angered them, and caused them to awaken from their slumber. They are wreaking havoc in the Duat; tearing it completely asunder. The Sea of Chaos - it is expanding. You can see why I have been sent. We need your help. The gods need your help."

||Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Mount Marcy Caverns|Tags: Nicholas|

Vivienne nodded as she listened to Nicholas's explanation, internally committing everything of importance to memory. They will follow my every command, but they are limited. They won't be able to be used against me by any of the Underworld children.
'Things would be different if I were going with you'. That was a curious thing for him to say. She eyed Nicholas with interest as he continued speaking, though she couldn't help but wonder what he would be doing if not aiding in her attack of Camp Half-Blood. That is none of my business, and I know it. Still, the thought scratched at the back of her mind like a caged rodent.
Nicholas's ramblings about the gods were of little concern to her, but his claims of 'building a clock' were odd ones, to be sure. Vivienne figured it was probably some sort of expression or idiom; she wasn't the most familiar with those as of late. She didn't flinch or stiffen when he patted her on the shoulder, though she eyed his hand with pure and utter confusion. Not only was the gesture unexpected, but the momentary warmth against her frigid skin was a strange sensation. The action was almost... reassuring? She wasn't quite sure what to make of it. His next words stuck with her, however. 'You're one of the lucky ones.' He was right, of course. Her mother had only said the same thing about a thousand times. Count yourself lucky that I'm helping you. A constant refrain in their day-to-day talks.
Nicholas had fallen quiet, she realised. But words had melted from Vivienne's mind like snowflakes on a sunny day. A moment of silence stretched between them before she finally came up with something to say. "If that is all... I should begin preparations for the attack." By that, she meant don her armour so she would be ready to go the moment Khione gave word that the venti were assembled. She would have to hunt down Ozymandias as well, and perhaps his flock if they were so inclined to follow him. She doubted the gryphons would join the fray, they mostly kept to themselves. Her friendship with Ozymandias was a different matter. She had saved his life, and in his eyes, he owed her a debt. She knew that much. It was no wonder he was so willing to charge into battle alongside her.

"Well if what you’re worried about is just being a weak fighter, all you can do is train, right?" Hunter pointed out, trying his best to fight back the smirk that threatened to break his generally stoic expression. Then he cracked when Cresolis suggested a spar. "You just asked an Ares kid for a spar? Ain’t gonna turn that down," he agreed, standing up again.

"Oh don’t worry about that. I may be cocky or snarky or whatever people want to call it, but I understand fighting, and I never try to underestimate my opponents, and why should I now, when the person I'm sparring against is the child of another war god?" Hunter pointed out. "Now, weapons, or hand-to-hand?"

Will nodded calmly, shutting the weapon case and tucking it to the side. His own pyrokinesis hastened the forge's rise to temperature, and before long the Hephaestus camper's second home was alive and warm, the snow nearby burning away from the heat of the flames. Stray embers littered Wilhelm's arms, but he brushed them away without much thought. "What d'you think we oughta make them out of?" He inquired, rummaging through a few containers of metal bits, springs, and scraps for decorative inspiration. Full fledge ingots were hidden away when not in use, but Will directed Kade to where they were stored so he may browse the selection. "Pick yer poison."

It clicked, but it did so a few moments too late. Orin knew and she didn't. If Lucy's father were Hades instead of Apollo, her red hair might've caught fire. There was certainly a share of it in her eyes; she didn't appreciate Orin's mockery. "I had my reasons for doing this here instead of at the dining pavilion." she retorted, folding her arms. She'd yet to falter, but it was debatable how long it would last. "And you, Orin Gorman, are a rat in a trap." Lucy countered, stepping away from Orin as Auggie entered the clearing. The daughter of Apollo had heard her coming, but she wasn't sure how much of the conversation Auggie had actually heard. The exchange was brief; Augusta returned Orin's lighter and left, leaving the son of Zeus back in Lucy's clutches. She didn't seem too happy about what she'd seen, so it didn't seem a lost cause yet. "Maybe I don't know," she admitted haughtily. "But that doesn't mean this is over, or I don't have everything I need already." Lucy narrowed her eyes. "We're beyond pleasantries now, so watch your step; I will end you."

Once again, they weren't alone. Lucy immediately recognized the distant voice of Dante, her head counselor before Hank. They were on amicable terms, and Lucy had yet to see him since arriving at camp. In fact, she'd neglected most of her siblings after the night before. "Go on, then." she dared, crocodile tears welling in her eyes. "Have your lunch. Enjoy it." Lucy sniffled, turning her face into a mess of tears. And then she was gone, off into the woods towards an unknown destination. Her feet, however, led her true; directly into Dante. "Ah, hey!" the other Apollo tumbled, snapping at his attacker. His tone softened when he realized it was Lucy, and took a turn for surprised when he saw her crying. "Hey, calm down. Lucy, what happened? I can't─I can't understand what you're saying." Lucy sniffled a few times, drying her eyes on her sleeve. "I just... I need some water..." she whimpered, thoughts brewing. Orin would get his fill, that was a given. Lucy wasn't through with him yet.

"I'll leave you to it, then." Nicholas circled from where he'd been walking around the room, returning back to the door. "Don't worry though. If things start going south," he tapped his temple with a finger. "Those bones are my eyes. I won't let you die in a shallow grave. Teid matriil." The horseman bid Vivienne a foreign farewell, dipping from sight. As he walked amist the shadows, he pulled his phone from his pocket. I ought to put his number in my contacts. He mused silently, scrolling through his recent call history. Then, a pause. "I don't have to announce myself to him, not really." Now that they'd met once, Death had little difficulty finding the British policitian a second time. He could pop in and offer the mortal a ride through the shadowy plane back to Mount Marcy, as it would be the fastest (and most reliable) transportation Malcolm could get. He'd probably have to ferry him anyway, so Nicholas chose to skip the middle man and sought out Kingston directly. He lingered out of sight only briefly, as a precaution so nothing potenially could be interrupted. Once he was free, Nicholas made his entrace. Although missing his cane, he still possessed glittering wings and a charming smile. "Malcolm Kingston." he addressed the mortal. "Forgive me for not knocking, it's been a busy morning." he extended his hand. "Khione's called for you, and I don't plan to keep her waiting."

"well. i hope you learn from your mistakes. for next time, right? cause i'm sure there will be one. with you it's a given," he sniffed, chuckling slightly to himself when she called him a 'rat in a trap'. "yeah. you've got that in the bag." but the mistake he had made became clear when auggie emerged from the shadows, threw him his lighter, and left. he caught it - there was a joke about lightning reflexes in there somewhere - slipped it in his pocket, frowned for a moment. "i look forward to you ending me, lucy. i'm sure it'll be a whale of a time. monumental. just.. think about what you're doing. world's ending out there, and you're picking petty fights with me. if i were a crueller man, i'd call you pathetic." a shrug. the voice of dante made him raise his eyebrows. "ciao, bella."

then he left. it became a haze. the world around him closed for just a moment, becoming nothing more than his feet on the ground, the brief pangs in his head, not systematic enough to become manageable, the tremble in his hands. his ventures took him to his cabin, which he slipped into - and silently cursed for its roominess when he spotted the people inside. "don't mind me. just -" he didn't finish his sentence, just grabbed some of the things from his bedside table and near legged it out. the cabin wasn't the place, then. perhaps -
the beach. no-one would be there. it wasn't the weather for it. the fireworks beach. he liked it there. the sound of the sea tended to calm his nerves.

upon reaching the alcove, he sat in the snow-covered sand, popped half a cube of ambrosia from his tin, consumed it, and lit the lavender and passionflower rollie he had prepared before everything came to a head. it was like he'd been preparing for it.
it burned nicely. mingling with the sound of the tide and the taste of barmbrack, the mixture was almost enough to calm him.

a drachma from his pocket. a bit of fumbling as he tried to catch one of the sun's rays in the gem of his ring, and a little prayer. "o, iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering. show me felix coyle,"
it took a moment, but soon, the face came into view. confused, yes, older, absolutely. but still the one he knew.

"orin?"
"felix," he answered.
"i was - i was going to contact you, actually. i'm in a hotel. i'm on my way to camp,"
"mad," orin huffed a breath, drawing from the roll.
"is that -"
"lavender, you overbearing -" he cut himself off. "things have gone a bit... i've come a cropper."
"english please, buddy,"
"lucy," he said. "lucy blitzen." when there came no response, just stunned silence, he chuckled bitterly. "right. cool. that's enough."
"i never -"
"she was holding it over your head and you didn't think to tell me?" he asked.
"she didn't know. i never told her. i just let her think that she was right," felix scrambled. "i didn't think - what, is she giving you trouble?"
after ashing into the quickly melting snow, he nodded. "got it out for me a bit,"
"and how are you... feeling about that?"
"gods, you're the worst,"
"i can't check you over this," his hand waved in the direction of the message. "are you alright?"
"big house collapsed on my head. i jumped out of a window a few times, went sprawling. my nan died. there's a guy in new york who's exposing demigods as real. it's snowing in the middle of june," he listed, deadpan. "but most of that happened yesterday. so, yeah. i'm fine."
"oh, christ on a bike," pause. "the infirmary?"
"gone,"
"how many died?"
"too many,"
"yeah," felix breathed. "i should've been there."
"yeah," he agreed. "but you're on your way?" he finished the roll. "because i'm - i don't -"
"it'll be an hour, tops. guaranteed. i just need a taxi," felix said. "it's on its way now. have you had any... well, you know."
"yeah. a few. ambrosia's sorted me, though. but this stuff, it's - it's getting to me, man. i don't know what to do."
"have you told anyone yet?"
"i can't,"
"you can. you just won't,"
"i want to. i'm -" a decision made on the fly. "i'm going to."
"now. right now," felix said. "because i know you won't if i'm there."
"thought i'd give it a -"
"now," he pressed. a distant car horn sounded. "my taxi's here. i'll be there soon. go. go and - go and say your piece. to a dryad, for all i care."
"she's not a dryad,"
"get to it, lofts,"

the connection was severed. the overcast day made the sea look grey. mesmerising, in a way. still, he stood up, brushed himself off, and decided to go about what he had promised. his heart was in his leg, but that was fine. he'd just have to manage.

malcolm had busied himself, for the most part, by sorting out the funds for the countless amounts of damned funerals happening in the little hotspots. a frightful task, especially for his accountant, but one that had to be done. he'd dug himself his own grave. eris, thankfully, had silenced herself somewhat. he pictured her as an animal curled in the back of his head, lethargically waiting for something interesting to happen. moving money was not interesting. blaring tainted love was making it bearable.

he had finished donating to the final fundraiser when a presence appeared in the room, almost in time with the drop of the second 'i've got to get away', but not quite perfect. it would be rude to ask for a do-over.
"anyone would think that you deities were born in a barn," he said, briefly checking over his final transaction before shutting the laptop and casting it to one side.

his eyebrows rose at the mention of the ice goddess, strife stretching in the back of his mind. "can i get my coat?" he asked. "or is it more of a smart-casual affair? i don't want to look overdressed. should i get changed? honestly, now." his hands gestured toward the suit he had donned for his interviews. "i don't want to look an idiot." his mind wandered briefly. "and do i have time to let the old dog know? he'll go out of his mind if i disappear without letting him know." malcolm's voice dropped to a whisper. "a bit needy."
