Autumn watched as the new girl bustled in and took the empty space on her table. There was something about this girl that she couldn't quite put her finger on... She seemed to sort of glow...? From the inside. Autumn mentally shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. She was being petty and fineckity. She smiled as the girl sat down on her table.
"What's your name?" She asked kindly.
She got to work on her work, looking deeply into the paper, smudging her work here and there to give it that extra effect. She looked up again at the girl. Autumn was unaware of the charcoal smudge on her own face. The girl didn't seem too artistic. Of course, she couldn't actually tell if she could draw until the girl put pencil to paper, but the way she dressed just didn't portray it.
Autumn tied her hair up and walked around to the girls art work. It didn't seem like she had done anything.
"Do you need any help?" She asked, laughing with her not at her.

I glance up at Autumn, amazed by how nice she is right of the bat. I guess I'm just used to difficult charges, who have problems accepting new girls. I remember my second charge ever was a snotty little b****. It took me three weeks to get to her little circle, and then I felt guilty later because to get to her, I had to prove how much of a b**** I could be. I swear, I thought I wasn't ever going back to headquarters.

Anyway, enough daydreaming. I look shyly up at her. When someone asks if you need help, you accept it. I make a really fast sketch, that's not my best, but would be up to her standards."Um, yes please. Can you show me how to fix the bird's wing? I think I did the curve wrong." I turn my paper to her, and show her my bird. It's got a flawless head, but I screwed up the wings on purpose. After thousands of years, you learn to pick up many trades.

James looked at Jane's outstretched hand as he lingered at the thought of meeting new people. His eyes drew away from her black nail polish and to her face. Tilting his head a little, he carefully shook her hand before quickly withdrawing. He wasn't the over-friendly type of person. "Welcome to the hallowed halls of this school," he remarked sarcastically, before turning to face the receptionist's desk. No-one was around to help him. Drats, he thought with dry amusement, I have to make conversation now. "Shouldn't you be in lesson?" he asked as he fiddled with one of the school's leaflets. "I'm James by the way." He added, forgetting that he had not introduced himself yet.

Alexa looked up slowly, her eyes falling on a boy. "Nope, you're welcome to it if you want." Alexa replied, popping her p. She looked around quickly, noticing that most of the class were there and the teacher had begun writing on the board. "I must warn you that I don't take notes, so I'm not the best person to copy off." Alexa added, giving a little smile at her own joke. Realising her own ignorance, she swept her bag onto the floor to let the boy sit down.

"Great, now I actually give a crap," Seth muttered in a completely deadpan tone. In all truth he didn't have to really do anything, there was no future for him in this world and if he needed something he could just use his demonic powers to influence whatever he needed to mess with. Seth took his seat and leaned his head against the back of the wall, steeling himself for the teacher's endless droning about entirely useless skills. The classroom became almost completely silent as the teacher began to speak.

Autumn laughed at the girl as she hastily drew something down. H?er eyes widened at the flawless head of the bird and was instantly envious.
"You need to teach me how to draw like that!"
She gasped, still in awe...
Then she looked at the wings. She was slightly suspicious of how the wings were a bit iffy, and from a good drawer, they looked like they were on purpose. Autumn shrugged her shoulders. Still, a chance to make a new friend was nothing to be argued with.
"Ok, lets start with the way they bend...."
She said slowly, confident that the girl could do just as she siad.
"Make sure they arch just here..."
She pointed to the wing bit.... She remembered the girl hadn't introduced herself
"Sorry, Im Autumn, your name is?"
Autumn grinned and sat down next to the unknown girl, and moved all of her stuff to her new place.

I nod enthusiastically. She's really good at this! I gently erase the feathers I had hastily drawn; and start to reform them, one by one. I pencil the lines of the feathers, taking my time. If there's one thing I learned about art is that it can't be rushed. Take your time, and it'll always turn out good.

I finish feathers one by one, and I can finally rest my achy fingers. "Ok," I say, turning to Autumn. "How's that?"

She cocked her head to one side, trying to make sense of the change...
"Maybe change the size of the feathers, make them look in size order."
Autumn mentally redrew the drawing, picturing how it would look.
"And give it tone, so that it looks 3D and makes sense."
Autumn smiled, pleased with her advice, and hoped that it wouldn't look rubbish. Autumn grabbed her own piece of A3 paper and began to sketch out an outline of a rearing horse. She loved capturing the wildness of the rearing stallion. Making its mane flow as the untamed wind brought it to life. She always made things too deep...
