"Right sorry," Arc said. He wrote his name and the date on the booklet, hoping that he hadn't just made an enemy of a teacher on his first day.

Mr Daley frowned and wrote some equations up on the board. "Solve these."

Oceane wrote out the first. She had never been taught mathematics in the facility. "Sir, I can't." she called out.

"Why not?" Mr Daley asked irritably.

"I don't know how." Oceane admitted.

Arc just stared at the equations. He knew how to do a few steps, but mostly he was lost.
"Um...do you start by rationalizing the radicals?" he offered timidly.

[Brightpaw]

"Good. Do that." Mr Daley said.

Oceane sat glumly staring at the equation. None of it made any sense to her.

Arc frowned and did that.
Crap. Now what? he wondered. He looked at Oceane,
"Do you understand any of this?" he mouthed at her.

Oceane shook her head numbly. "It's all just numbers and wotsit." she groaned.

"Yeah, I know," Arc muttered. He tried dividing a few numbers and moving things around,
"But I think if I just think about it for a moment..." he murmured, scribbling on the pad with the stylus. His brow furrowed in concentration.

Oceane grinned at him. "At least you got an education." she muttered. She stared in frustration at the sums.

Willow walked into the class. "er guys what are we doing?" she asked noting the puzzled looka

"Miss Night, sit down!" Mr Daley yelled angrily. He pointed to a seat on it's own. "Here."

Oceane sighed sympathetically, not understanding the question.
