Avalbane chuckled dryly. "Yes. When has hell ever won?" She said quietly. Today, my child. Today, hell has one. The voice in the back of her head whispered. She grimaced and gazed at the cottage. "We should take care of Altair. It wouldn't do you or me any good if he isn't better soon." Suddenly, she froze and her hand went to her blade. She cocked her head listening and she stood up. "Get behind me." She said, her voice cold and razor edged. Lero flinched at her voice, reconizing the faint demon roughness in it. Then he heard it as well and he moved to guard the cabin.

Sicarius walked into the light and he saw Avalbane, standing as still as stone and glaring at him with eyes as cold as ice. "Avalbane..." He whispered, his voice almost pleading. She just glared at him, her knife held in her hand, ready to use "I'm in control. I promise." He pleaded, a thin sheet of sweat covering him. "You don't look it." She snarled. He flinched when he heard Kagnen's mate behind her voice. "You died." He said flatly. "Yes." She replied, equally calm. Sicarius sighed and leaned against a tree. "He want's me t return to Kenski. And.... he wants you to join Ezio and Altair's creed." He said, his eyes tight. He noted how only a tiny sliver of shock flashed upon her face before it disappeared. "And since when has your master become mine?" She snarled. He flinched. "He... Suggested it. Your an assassin on the loose that happens to be a dragon, dark elf, and demon. Someone from your old creed is bound to find you and try to kill you. Or at least expose you for what you are. You might as well resume being an assassin, but I a different Creed." he said, his voice turning weary. She glared at him, then sheathed her knife. "That's not for me to decide." She said coldly, turning to Lero and staring at him for a second. Lero nodded his head, glared at Sicarius, and he moved so that he still was protecting the cottage, but he was out of earshot. Suddenly, she was in front of him, a knife at his throat. He flinched away. "I thought I had lost you when you left me with him, you know." She said in a deathly quiet voice. "I cried for you but you never showed. Then you show up out of nowhere and ruin my life." She said, hissing the last part. "I didn't attack the man, not just because of his children, but because I saw you in the shadows, protecting them. Because of you, I'm a freak. An assassin that's not entirely one. I'm three creatures in one, Sicarius, and it's ripping me apart." She hissed. He felt a bead of his own blood drip onto his shirt. She had cut his neck slightly. She backed away slightly. "I don't know if I consider you an alley anymore Sicarius. Because right now," She said, her eyes fixing onto his, cold as ice. "you look and sound like an assassin who played his cards wrong and lost the gamble." She said, her words snaking through the air. Sicarius winced. "You let her control your emotions..." He muttered. "Yes, but right now, she's letting me loose. All I feel is anger and...." She paused for a second. "... Pain. Pain Sicarius. Pain because," At this, she turned to him, her eyes glistening ever so slightly. "I just lost my only friend because of a simple game that started out fine and turned into a gamble of life and death." She whispered. Then her sorrow and anger melted away and was replaced with a strange calmness. She smiled sadly at him, but there was no sorrow in that smile. For the first time since he met her, Sicarius feared her.
