Kaleb nodded, wrapping an arm around her waist as they continued down the hall. He knew it was inappropriate for a unwed couple to be seen in such an intimate position, but he could care less. A lot less. And besides, he and Rena had been in much more intimate embraces before. It was good it be by her side, especially now.

They exited out into the courtyard, the bright brilliance of the sun aching his eyes. He blinked twice, slipping his hand from her waist back down to her hand. "Stables are this way. Do you know your coachman by name?" he asked. He hardly knew his coachman at all, even though it had been the same man driving his carriage for ages. The fact of making introductions had never occurred to him before. He had always addressed the balding man as "coachman". Hmm, perhaps I shall be acquainted next time, he thought to himself.

Tristan quirked up the corners of his lips at her response. He vaguely remembered her getting in the way of the boys' sword fights. Following her gaze, he noted at her choice of clothing. The prince looked discreetly away. It was very inappropriate for women, princesses especially, to be seen in men's garments. She was just like Arabella. Arrogant, stubborn, childish, immature, selfish, and overall full of themselves. They both wanted more than they needed. They didn't know how life was like for the peasants and farmers out there, they only cared for what they got. And the princesses received full allowances each month, along with closets full of sparkling dresses. And then they waste the money by flashing about in men's breeches. How dreadfully embarrassing.

But at the same time, the prince believed men and women alike should live equally. Although he was very much decided against women in men's clothing, he knew that women were an intelligent gender and that their thoughts counted as much as any man's. But these princesses knew nothing of the outside world. Their thoughts on freedom were foolish. After they were free, where would they go?

"I hope Prince Zerrick is well," he said hesitantly, still a bit annoyed at her breeches.

Serena nodded at his question, taking a moment to let her eyes adjust to the light before holding his hand. "His name is David." she replied. She and her coachmen hadn't a very good bond, mainly since the girl often travelled alone, and David should prevent it from the king. But Serena couldn't stand it to get late at important things and she could get snappy at such times, which caused her coachmen to get trouble for driving without knights. But the girl had been polite when she first met him, around ten years ago when she was still a little princess, and had never forgot his name.

He nodded, beckoning at a stable hand who was brushing a dark stallion. Shocked at the royal couple's presence, the boy dropped what he was doing and bowed low to the both of them. "Y-your majesties, how may I be of your assistance?" he mumbled, his words jumbled up.

"We are searching for a coachman that goes by the name David. He is from Elyadon. Have you seen or heard of him?" the prince asked, stroking the back of his fiance's hand with his thumb. Kaleb slipped his free hand into a concealed pocket and drew out a silver coin, flipping it over to the adolescent. The stable hand caught it in the air, surprise still marked on his face.

Smiling up at the couple, the boy said, "He came through this way last night for the festival, along with the many other carriages. But he hasn't left yet, sire. I'm sure I can find him. Probably at the tavern." he explained, the words rushing out of his mouth. He ran off in search for the man, pulling his floppy cap down on his ears.

Kaleb chuckled softly, watching the boy stumble into the far off tavern. It was nearly noon, and the sun was high up in the sky, blazing through the autumn chill. He was sure the temperature would drop as December came on, and knew that there was a big chance of a wedding in snow.

Serena just smiled politely at the stablehand as KC spoke, smiling a bit brighter as she felt KC's thumb stroking her hand. She listened to the stablehand and wanted to thank him, but the guy had already ran off, towards the tavern. Sometimes it still surprised the girl how much some people did for them. I mean, sometimes she just wanted to do things herself, without help because she felt pretty stupid otherwise.

Patch grinned, he sent another arrow flying at one of the men, catching his arm. He watched the man bawl in pain and yell "Fall back! Fall back!" and run off. He shot arrows at the remaining men.

Arabella smiled at Patch and walked over to the man who she had shot in the knee. He was still rolling on the ground holding his knee. She grabbed the end of the arrow and the man cried out. "Now that I've got your attention," she said staring at him intensely. "Would you min too terribly telling me who you are and why you decided to attack my friend and I?" The man stared at her. "I see we'll be doing this the hard way then," she sighed and knocked another arrow, just in case. "Tell me why you attacked us and I'll take the arrow out of your knee. Decide not to, and the other knee gets and arrow as well."

The prince and princess didn't have to wait long. A few minutes after the stable hand disappeared into the tavern, he reappeared with a man shadowing him. As they trotted towards the stables, where Kaleb stood with his fiance, the prince leaned towards the princess. "Your's to command, my princess." He stepped back towards the steady wall and watched the future queen of Avalon instruct the coachman.

Tristan frowned at her bold statement. To declare that she didn't care for her oldest brother was nearly treason, if heard from the wrong ears. He quickly scanned the bushes just to make sure there weren't any straggling servants or strangers nearby. Prince Zerrick was the heir of Avalon, their future king. She was free, of course, to dislike him, but to announce it in public? Very foolish indeed. Growing a bit more agitated at the girl's demeanor, Tristan crossed his arms, still frowning, and watched her intently. "You know, you're not very different from my sister. Arabella's as rebellious as you are. In fact, I'd bet money that she's not doing what she's supposed to be doing right this moment." he said.

Serena nodded in respons to Kaleb, thanking the stable hand before turning towards her coachman, explaining the situation towards her coachman, and politely asking if he could get her dress out of the carriage. She immediately knew her coachman had been in the tavern for too long, seeming a bit absent. She had to repeat her request twice before the man seemed to understand what he needed to do, and walked out of the stables. Serena grabbed KC's hand before walking after her coachman, pulling KC along with her as she stopped at her carriage, waiting politely for him to open her carriage door. Serena released KC's hand and stepped into the carriage, soon stepping back out with a neatly folded dress, thanking the coachman as he locked the carriage again. David simply groaned in reply before walking away. Serena sighed softly. "He spends way too much time in the tavern." she muttered.
