Insta-panic.
It wasn't as if he hadn't enjoyed that one or two second span, he just could only see himself getting more infatuated from here.
That was obviously a problem, as he would have to leave soon, and he had no intention of making this girl a companion.
Not yet, anyway.
And he was sure that if he took Sophie with him, Lyme would just have to join him again.
(If if log off randomly, don't panic. I'm just switching from the laptop to the iPod Touch.)

Sophie pulled away, smiling. She crossed her arms, and simply stood there. "I don't lie Doctor. When I tell someone I like them,which isn't often, I mean it. And I like you, a lot. " She said in a whisper, uncrossing her arms, and her smile fading. She looked up at him with, hopeful, pleading eyes.

"Aha...ha...."He laughed nervously.
The Doctor didn't want to lie and say he didn't share the same feelings, but he didn't want to be honest and create a big problem.
Solution: Say nothing. Just wait...wait.
That was just making it very awkward."I..uh..."

Lyme had been calm about the whole thing up until this point.
"IDIOT! SAY SOMETHING ALREADY! GEEZ!"She spazzed a little bit.

Sophie smiled and hugged him. She was beyond happy right now. When she pulled away, she was still smiling. "Good." She whispered. "Because it's going to be hard to get rid of me. Because Doctor, I could die a million times, and I would still be by your side. I could look into the eyes of Death himself and not be scared, because I know that no matter what, I'll find you."

Oh yes......she'd follow him through time and space, never straying..even if he tried to make her for her own good.
He actually believed that, even though it sounded somewhat familiar.
And as an added bonus, maybe she wouldn't touch everything he owned on purpose just to annoy him. (Lyme XD)

Sophie giggled. "You don't need to be so nervous. I Don't bite, honest. " She looked up at him and smiled. Sophie laid her head against the Doctor's chest. "Don't Ever leave me. Please. You may not have realized it then, but there was a reason I ran straight to you when my lab burned. You give a feeling of safety and confidence that no one else has. When I'm near you, I feel as if I could conquer the universe and beyond. " She whispered. It was true. She felt it at that very moment, that feeling of complete safety and confidence.

It made him feel terrible that he couldn't make a promise like that.
Despite the fact that he knew it was a very bad idea, he smiled and gave her a reply.
"I won't.."
There. That settled it, this would end badly.
That being said, he'd need to start treasuring each moment with Sophie a lot more.

Sophie smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist, her head still on his chest. "Thank you." She whispered. She closed her eyes and simply relished the moment. Yes, this is the one. I'm positive. I'll never find someone like him. Not until time runs out. And even then, he'll be the only one for me.

I can't believe I did that. She's going to get hurt and it'll be my fault. I don't know if she be harmed emotionally or physically, but the chances are high and getting higher.
Realization that he couldn't continue fooling around like this set in, leaving him with a cold sort of feeling.
The Doctor sighed a little, but it almost sounded like contentment.
Momentary contentment.

Sophie smiled and looked up at The Doctor. She didn't care that this was probably pretty awkward formeveryone else. She was in love, and nothing else but The Doctor mattered to her. She looked into his eyes and saw, well, everything. She saw the universe, Gallifrey(She doesn't know what planet it is, I just didn't know want else to describe it as!), sadness, joy, the most amazing and the most frightening things she had ever seen. But she simply smiled. He's seen so many things. So many wonders.
