Akane followed, her lips turning into a small scowl. The Reapers always creaped her out, their haughty expression and sneers, though she knew they held a terrible secret of their own. As she slowly glanced around the court room she closed her eyes, blocking out the chatter of the jury and witnesses.
"So," A soft voice said, "Can you described what happened, Miss?" A woman around her 30's was lounged on a fancy armchair, gilded with gold leaf. A small girl around the age of 12 was sat, tensed, on a matching lounge chair. The room was quite small, sporting a warm and safe feeling. A crackling fire was burning brightly behind the two. A pine desk was cluttered with parchment and ink, taking up the corner. The rest of the room was filled with bookshelves, packed together tightly, towering from ceiling to the floor. Each and every one had books neatly arranged, most leather-bound with intricate print on the book's spine. The blonde-haired girl looked up towards the women slowly, that were crystal grey. "I was walking home from the market, I saw the board members in a huddle outside the big building. Their hands were sprouting flames; but it wasn't burning them..." She said in a quite voice, shaking a little when she had finished. The woman, who had been relaxed, was now tense, expression concerned. She stood up hesitatingly, frowning. Walking towards the girl, she gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Go to sleep, you will forget about this when you wake up... Miss Akane." The girl slumped sideways, falling asleep on a pillow. The woman walked out, closing the door behind her.
Akane awoke with a start, one of the board members had come over. The woman was in her 40's, bits of grey hair mingling with her brown roots. "The session is about to begin." She said gently. Akane looked up, noticing the piercing eyes of the woman. They were oddly coloured, one a musky red and the other a piercing blue. Akane stared at the woman intently, where do I recongize her? She thought carefully. The woman took a step back, hurrying to her place.
Riko watched silently from her seat. Mizaki, why do you tease the girl so? She thought sarcastically as she caught a glance off the woman. Riko scowled furiously, crossing her arms across her chest. The person sitting next to her glanced uneasily at her, shuffling closer away from her. Riko gave a small smile, eying the Reapers in case they discovered her existence.
Xaria was flying absent-mindlessly in the air, trying out complicated moves. Several times, she fell towards the ground, tumbling in circles until she stopped. James smiled at her, gazing at her blue scales. I wonder if there are any spell-casters in this city, the name is so magical... he thought reading his book slowly. Xaria suddenly stopped dead in the air, giving off a small growl. Someone is invading my mind, she growled softly through their mind link. James stood up quickly, frowning. Be warned stranger, Xaria growled openly. She shut off James from her mind, though he could still hear the force of a telepathic roar of his dragon. Around him, he could feel wildlife stirring nervously.
