(@Keriae, That's completely fine! Ouch, college work -that sounds "fun". (I wish you the best of luck with that!) And, as for long days -I think I can feel your pain there, a little bit; I don't get home from school until 6:30 on a good night (and on a bad I actually sleep over). Aha, thank you! I don't believe it's broken (thankfully!), but there's a great chance it is sprained. Dx)

Alarm rippled through Ari like a stone on the surface of a pond, causing his muscles to tense, and stance to lower, eyes gleaming with badly-disguised fright. Nathan was whirling into a fit, babbling nonsensically, and then running off -to smack head-first into a tree. The noise made his stomach clench, and Ari's body sprung forward before he could stop it, and the mid-air recoil had him landing awkwardly a few centimetres from where he had begun. He watched as the short girl with the light-grey leapt to his aid -and felt a pang of horror as Nathan turned around to reveal the violent red of blood dispersed across his face and hand. The earlier clenching of his stomach turned into a convulsion, and Ari clenched his teeth and hands into white-knuckled fists to prevent himself from displaying too adverse a reaction to his peers. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. The mantra marched through his mind, weak-kneed and lacking conviction, and Ari tried to straighten, tried to remind himself that it was Nathan over there who had the blood pouring from an open wound, not he. Ari was fine, and Nathan needed help -help he couldn't give if he was too busy being queasy. Pathetic.
Willing his spine to straighten, Ari watched as the timid, grey-eyed girl took control of the situation. He wondered at her control, envied her ability to aid where he was useless. That thought spurred him into action, and he took a step forward, to where Nathan was now standing hesitantly, the grey-eyed girl close by.
"I -do you need help?" he offered, trying to settle the violent storm in his belly. "Is he -how is he? Should we make shelter -does anyone have healing -anyone know -" He paused, drawing a rattly breath in between his teeth, wincing as the air blew cold over the sensitive enamel. Thoughts. Yes -he needed to order his thoughts. One thing at a time. Coherence was key, and it was no good for anyone if he flew into a wilder panic than the injured boy who actually required their medical attentions. Oh, he'd had nightmares about this sort of thing. Injury so early on into the Passage never boded well.
Ever.
"I-" he began again, hands tightly fisted in his pockets. "I want to help." Yes, that was a start. One thought at a time, Ari. "How can I help?"
