Makoto Tachibana is a tall brunet with green eyes and a tendency to smile. He's sincere and considerate; always trying to take care of those around him. Makoto has a huge heart and will try to help whenever he can.
Makoto is rather weak hearted, and gets scared very easily. When this happens he tends to lean towards Haruka.
They've been together since childhood and Makoto has learnt to read his thoughts and expressions. Makoto Tachibana is no fool, and likely the most sensible and level-headed of his friends. He often gets tired of their strange antics and is usually the one to restore order within his circle of friends.

ｈｉｓｔｏｒｙ & ｃｕｒｒｅｎｔ ｌｉｆｅ
As a child, Makoto was the one who wanted to join the Iwatobi Swimming Club with Haruka. At first he practised breaststroke; but later switched to backstroke in elementary school.

When he was young, Makoto liked to go to a small fishing harbour. There, an elderly fisherman would occasionally play with him.
At a festival, Makoto had wanted to scoop for fish- but had already spent his money. The fisherman gave him two goldfish to try to cheer him up.
Later, there was a typhoon that brought down the old fisherman's ship, drowning him and many others. Makoto has a fear of being in the ocean because of this.
Eventually, the fish died. Makoto made a grave for them and still changes the flowers each day.

Makoto lives with his mother, father, and twin siblings, Ran and Ren. He is captain of Iwatobi Swimming Club.
