Yokai and descriptions
Kitsune
A fox with fire magic/powers, and a humanoid form and fully fox form. Can hide ears and tail(s) in humanoid form when they want to. Tails range from 1 to like 11 or 12.
Nekomata
A kitty cat with the ability to change sizes, though that usually happens when they're really old. When they've lived hundreds of years, their tail splits in two. They also have humanoid forms, with ears and tail(s) they can hide if desired.
Tanuki
'Raccoon dog', not a raccoon or a dog. Has rounded ears and a bushy tail, and humanoid form. Can hide ears and tail.
Tengu
Lit. Crow or Raven. Humanoid forms with big wings, usually black because they're crow or raven demons. They sometimes wear really ugly masks, but their faces aren't ugly.
Yuki onna
Lit. Snow woman. Just basically a girl with pale skin wearing a kimono, whom has snow powers.
Koma Inu
Lit. Lion dogs. They're...kinda ugly? I don't actually know how to describe these, so wiki it, but there's statues of them at some shrines in Japan.
Kuchisaki Onna
Don't think anyone wants to be one of these, she's a slit mouthed woman
Oni
'Ogres', they're relatively human looking aside from the one or two horns on their head, and the sharper nails of their fingers.
Amabie
Mermaid, really the only way to describe it.
Akurojin-no-Hi
A ghostly flame that appears on rainy nights. Makes people fall ill if they don't flee from it...
Akabeko
A red cow Ayakashi.
Amanojaku
A small oni that makes people do bad things...
Ameonna
Same as Yukionna, but has rain powers.
Aosaginohi
A heron who's feathers fuse into luminescent scales.
Baku
Looks like a tapir, and eats nightmares, giving humans good dreams.
Furi
Monkey like Ayakashi.
Namehage
Frightfully dressed basically humanoid Ayakashi. A disciplinary.
Hibagon
Japanese yeti.
Inugami
A dead dog that comes back for vengeance...Can become attached to kind people (that's what I believe) or evil ones...Can be controlled by powerful families, usually exorcists.
Kirin
Japanese version of Chinese dragon horse. Has horse body, with horns and dragon like tail, lizard like rather than arrow tipped, and the mane comes down the back.
Kamaitachi
Sickle clawed, but personally I like sickle wielding better, weasel.
Jorogumo
Spider woman...I shudder...
Onikuma
Bear demon.
Mujina
Badger with human disguise form. Can hide ears and tail.
Okuri-inu
Similar to black dog, attacks travelers that stray, or people that dig up graves (if it's lived with the human that then passes away and gets buried, and their grave gets robbed, or someone attempts to).
Satori
Ape like, can read minds.
Sunekosuri
Dog Yokai that rubs on peoples legs when in rains.
Onmyouji
Exorcists with powers similar to Yokai, so not technically a Yokai.
Yama-Inu
Mountain dog that appears to travelers on mountain roads, and is friendly (because I like that better than attack...)
Yurei
Literal ghosts.
Zashiki-Warashi
House spirits. Very cute and good, though they play pranks. If seen, the person who sees them is blessed with good fortune.
Ayakashi (apparently water demons, or said to appear above water surfaces)
Kappa
Turtle like, with appendages much like arms and legs, but with webbed feet and 'hands'. Has a plate on top of their head.
Issie
Japanese lake monster from lake ikeda
Ikuchi
Sea serpent that jumps ships, drips oil when doing so.
Kawauso
Otter with humanoid form. Can hide ears and tail.
Wani
Water monster comparable to crocodile or alligator.
