I love animal books too, so I can tell you some of my favorites.
The Sight by David Clement-Davies: This is probably one of the best books I have read. It begins the story with two wolves, Huttser and his mate Palla. Palla is about to give birth, and one of her pups is prophesied to possess the Sight. The Sight is a power that lets its user see the past, present, and future by looking into water, see through the eyes of birds, and touch the minds of others. Another wolf with the Sight, Morgra (Palla's half-sister), is trying to capture Palla's pups for her own dark reasons. Palla's pack must escape Morgra and avoid the curse. It may sound a bit odd at first, but this book is amazing. <3 I'm almost halfway through and it's kept me on the edge of my seat.
Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel: I read this book two years ago, so I don't remember it too well. I really loved it though, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. Here is the summary;
Shade is a young Silverwing bat, the runt of his colony determined to prove himself on the long and dangerous winter migration to Hibernaculum, millions of wingbeats to the south. During a storm, Shade is swept out over the ocean -- away from his family, his friends, and the only life he has ever known. Alone and frightened as winter fast approaches and temperatures plunge, Shade sets out on a remarkable journey to rejoin his colony to the south.
As Autumn Rain suggested, Guardians of Ga'Hoole is also a great book. ^_^ I wouldn't recommend Seekers though, I found it very boring and the characters were annoying.
Happy reading!
