Disney Pixar's 13th animated film is 'BRAVE'! Originally called 'The Bear and the Bow', and written by Brenda Chapman, it's Pixar's first princess movie, centering on Scottish Princess Merida, and also their first historical piece, taking place in the Dark Ages of the Scottish Highlands.

Summary ~
"Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and the signature Pixar humor enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The film takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters."

Oh, gosh. I got to see the trailer for this in 3D when I saw Cars 2. It looks amazing!
I agree, Angus (I didn't know his name before, lol) is amazing!

As to the "Ill fated wish" and "Beastly curse"... I remember reading a leaked summary/script (Which may have not been acurate) from back when it was called "The Bear and the Bow". It was confusing and sketchy, but it sounded as if a character was turned into a bear... I'm not sure who, except that they kept calling the bear "She".
It's probably not Merida, though, that'd be a little too Brother Bear-ish ;) .

Come to think of it, the bear in the trailer might not be the same bear... considering that she shoots an arrow at it.
Wait... "Bear and the Bow"...
Could the bow have some significance? Like, maybe it undoes the curse somehow?

I don't know, just brainstorming.

Actually, I just read the bear's name is apparently Murdo. (I looked it up: It's an anglicized form of the Scottish Muireadhach or Murchadh, which means either "lord" or "sea warrior". I don't know if that means anything, but I just like looking up name meanings. :D )

Also, none of the teaser trailer footage will be in the actual movie. It's some kind of thing Pixar does where they do separate animation for the teaser trailer.

So I just learned 'Brave' takes place in the 10th century, and there is some sort of archery contest where Merida's suitors compete for her hand... but apparently that doesn't quite sit well with Merida...

Interesting idea for the bear being a cursed person, Toothless. At least it seems like that from the summary, and that's what I thought at first, but considering Pixar always tries to be different, and that's sort of been done in 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Brother Bear' I'm starting to think it's less likely now.

It seems to me like the bear's a villain, and he's the beastly curse...? I mean he's obviously no Koda; he's got some serious fangs and claws on him. Still, he could turn out to be a nice magic-type bear, and they team up - or he could be evil. He's awesome either way! Rawr! :D

It looks like an interesting movie! I might go and see it when it comes out. I really like Angus so far! He looks like a big draft horse, which are my favorite horses. I have a Shire horse (my favorite breed) figurine that looks a lot like him. It's black with white feathered socks and a white blaze.

I know, I love drafts too, and Shires are so beautiful. I totally fell in love with Angus as soon as I saw the trailer. He's so big and black, with furry fetlocks! :D

Do we know officially what breed he is yet? I'm really curious. I really like the name Angus, too. :)

I don't know if he's an actual 'breed' since it takes place in the 10th century, long before breeds came about... Maybe he's based on a Clydesdale, or possibly a Shire, like you said.

I am so excited to see this movie. Like, super excited. Pixar never fails to amaze me, so let's see what they have in store this time. And does anyone else think the horse in the trailer is a Clydesdale?..?

Squee! ^^ Official Trailer came out!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEHWDA_6e3M&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I don't know about you guys, but I was like: "AWESOME!"

EDIT:

Okay, this is interesting. Merida has three little brothers and three little bears are shown in the trailer. Is the 'beastly curse' her brothers being turned into bear cubs? Or... maybe not. Maybe the cubs are the bear's and it's just a coincidence. Any thoughts?
