Finding books

How do you all find new books? I go through the library all the time but nothing seems to jump out. Are there any websites you use or any tricks?

Honestly, it's always about willingness to try-- next time you visit the library, pick a book at random and read the first few pages. If you're interested, give it a shot! If you like it, then cool, you found a new book you're into, and if you don't, then you know what to look out for.

i usually go off booktok but its easy to not be interested or to have already read those very popular works
i like to judge by the cover or by the coolness of the authors name. i will also always finish a book even when you aren't super interested, sometimes you can be surprised!

I take recommendations from my friends mostly, but lately I've been browsing used bookstores for covers that stick out (usually ones with eye-catching art or script on the cover and spine). It's certainly worth asking your local librarians if they have any recommendations based on things you've enjoyed, but goodreads also has read alike book lists + easy immediate access to reviews.

I mainly read fantasy, so I follow lots of people who share my tastes on Instagram, YouTube, tiktok and the like and that usually gets me a few new recommendations! I also will google upcoming and recent releases for authors I've enjoyed before or just of the genres I like.

Goodreads, Storygraph and book riot are amazing resources!

I usually just search "new books [genre here]" and see what there is for me.
Goodreads is also a great place to find new books!

Sometimes, I even visit some book review websites :D

not sure if the country you're in may have one, but i typically go to waterstones
I've found a bunch of really good books there, and they put the popular books of the month on tables throughout the shops
what i usually do is read the blurb and if it interests me, i pick the book

a few i would recommend are "the song of achilles", "they both die at the end" "the night circus" "as good as dead" (whole series is good) and "watership down" is a personal favourite of mine

it all depends on what kind of books you prefer, and where you get them from. places like amazon, you can search for genre, author and popularity. sometimes you can also find recommended books from classes, news articles or even as someone has mentioned before, tiktok

i hope you manage to find a book that interests you!

I go to bookstores and search all the different genre, pick a few out from the ones I like the most and then read the description. Sometimes if it’s not a manga, I’ll read the first few pages of the book and see if I like it that way.

I am interested in various topics, from medicine to law to fiction. Both my parents are lawyers but I could never see myself being a lawyer, but I find law books interesting. I don't watch much television and at the library nothing interesting that I could find. Are there any websites you use or any tricks?

searching at the library is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I usually go online and search for "books about ____" whatever topic I want. Then I read a preview of it to see if it's something that I can see myself reading. Then if I like it, I will rent or buy it.

Honestly, I just scroll around GoodReads and see what comes up.
