I've always wanted to cosplay, but I:
-am very poor
-can't find a wig the right length and color for any of the characters (except for the one, but the wig is $80 or so)
-Cannot spend over $400 making the proper weapon replicas (I need very crystal clear swords + daggers)
-am not aloud to wear a binder (and half the characters I would want to cosplay are male)
So for now I just put together outfits that are close something the character would wear... (I still need more oversized knit sweaters dang it).
(By the way, the characters I'm interested in cosplaying are: Alec Lightwood, Tessa Gray, Ragnor Fell (gah he has green skin and horns... this one would be very difficult), and maybe Magnus Bane, all from the shadowhunters chronicles)

Well for the wigs, you can try Arda wigs: http://arda-wigs.com/

They have really nice wigs in a rather large variety. I always get my wigs from there, they're really strong and with the right storage and care they should last a long time. I believe the wigs are no more than 60$. Plus, they also sell extra clip-ons and extensions. You will have to style them yourself, but it's nothing a little patience can't fix!

There is also a really good tip for turning a cami into a binder. Of course it all depends on your body type but I found it flattened my chest really well c:

First make sure you have the kind of cami that has a built in
bra. Turn the cami so the back is in the front. Then, place the
elastic of the built in bra where it will flatten it most. Move the straps
as far down as possible. Roll up the bottom of the cami. Make any
last minute adjustments and you're done!

Just remember to stay as FAR away as possible from Ace bandages and duct tape. They may seem like a good idea but can actually be really dangerous!

Lastly for your weapons, i'm not quite sure. Maybe you could use plastic containers? It would take a lot of patience but it might work for making clear weapons.

It's been so long since I've posted here. If you'd like to see any photos of the cosplays I've done recently/ask me for tips, you can pm me or see the link to my instagram in my signature. Since, I last posted, I've displayed Starfire from Teen Titans, Emily the Strange, Annabeth from Percy Jackson, Princess Bubblegum, and Honeylemon from Big Hero Six.

I'm currently working Robin and Nowi. Both from Fire Emblem for DragonCon 2016. They're gonna take me FOREVER.

The reason I am posting is because I need help with a thing. I'm going to be cosplaying Greg from Over the Garden Wall but I have no idea how to make his pot. Since I'm working on Nowi and she is going to cost me around $300 to make, does anyone have a suggestion of what to use to make the post that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'm thinking model magic or craft foam? Do you think that'd even work? Also, does anyone know where I can get mary Jane shoes that aren't gonna kill me if I walk in them all day at a con?

So
I want to cosplay, like, REALLY want to cosplay.
There are easy people like
Freckles/ Doll without the costume from the Black Butler circus arc
and hard people like
Eren Yeager-SNK
Grell Sutcliff- Black Butler

so
for Freckles
I need to just get the clothes, im naturally covered in freckles, and I can just tie up my hair, clothes is the thing that bothers me, how and where do you get clothes that match exactly, and arent expensive?

I'll get some research for you, and see what I can find!
I suggest looking through cosplay pictures on Deviantart to get inspiration.
Edit; it will probably be easier to do Doll's circus costume. Freckles on her own without the costume is a pretty plain cosplay, and nobody will really know who you are, to be honest... What's your budget? I can probably find something similar to the circus costume that isn't too expensive.
If you do want to do the Freckles without the circus costume cosplay, then I suggest that you go thrift shopping around to find clothes that looks similar.
