I have mixed feelings on the subject.
Tauriel is cool, even if she isn't in the book, and balances out the 98% male main cast a bit
You SAW?!
HOW?
yes I saw, because it was out in cinemas in NZ as of the 12th, which for NZ was yesterday
and my mixed feelings are mostly because the fact to me the film felt a little disjointed in places because.. particularly some of the laketown stuff because I knew that there was more stuff that was shot for it that is obviously either being saved for the extended version or flat out did not make the cut. and probably a lot of stuff that is being saved for the third movie.
why do I care about laketown? because I was an extra, and that is the part of the movie I was supposedly in. Though I didn't see myself when I went to go see it.. eh..though I did make one of the making of guides for this film, which was pretty cool, so I have that at least.
I am a little annoyed that one of my favourite parts of the book did not make the movie.. but I will not say what for the sake of spoilers.
the first film at least attempted to be close to the book at least in my opinion
this one felt like: book? what book?
Amy43: your answer is below
there are a couple moments where bilbo does freak out about the ring, but I don't really think much of them, this movie is more about thorin than anyone else, well at least it felt that way to me there is one time where he loses it in mirkwood and kind of goes a little nuts trying to get it back.. not sure that counts though
