I read LOTR and The Hobbit very recently (by recently, I mean in the last couple weeks) and I absolutely love them. I'm halfway through the Silmarillion now, and after I finish it, I'm going to try and buy some of the other LOTR books (Children of Húrin, Unfinished Tales etc) with a book voucher I got from my aunt for Christmas! c:

If I may suggest a discussion topic: which event/conversation in Lord of the Rings affected you the most personally, and why?

Samwise's speech/comments about the Great Stories. That one always effected me. It holds so much truth for how people behave now. It is such a hopeful section. We are always fighting to make something right in the world and it is just like the great stories.
Samwise, "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you." He is truly a best friend. He can't carry the burden for Frodo, but he can carry Frodo. I have had a few best friends like that, they never tried to carry my burdens but they helped carry me.

I really enjoyed the ME movies... But I REALLY want to know what happend to Tauriel and Radagast in those 60 years apart!!

Am i the only one that thinks tauriel should have died in five armies?

because it would have been romantically tragic to have them go down defending each other
and 2 because she's not in rings, she's kinda just an irritating loose end now because she doesn't tie into the continuing story

I agree! I think the just put her in to make you like Kili more. And then be more sad when he died.

Radagast is in the LoTR books. Bit I don't think he's in the movies, it's been a while since I watched it.

Even then, all he does is tell Gandalf that Saruman wants to see him at the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring, so all in all he doesn't do a lot...

And I agree with that about Tauriel - however, I'm happy that they made her so badass. There aren't a lot of female characters in Lord of the Rings who actually fight, apart from Éowyn (and Arwen in the films) so it was nice to have that. I'd be very upset if she was weakly reduced to just her love triangle plotline.
