Renames: Into the Wild - ThunderClanI will be going by traditional naming here. Note that the cats who don't require renames will not be listed.
REDTAILAssessment: We've already discussed the impossibility of a tortoiseshell male, so I won't go into it here. What I will say is that naming a cat solely for one marking - be it the color of their tail, foot or face - is a bad idea, since names should tell you what the cat is like from a distance. And God forbid if the piece you're naming the cat for gets ripped off or destroyed; then the name means absolutely nothing.
Renamed: Change him to a
dark red tabby named Redpelt. He's mistakenly called a tabby once or twice, so that design should fit him perfectly.
LIONHEARTAssessment: Does his prefix fit him just fine? Sure, if you're comfortable with the Big Cat prefixes. But -heart is traditionally used to mean a cat who has a fierce sense of justice and morality, and Lionheart doesn't show that at all. In fact, he's kind of a pushover, something a -heart cat would never allow.
Renamed: Lionfur, or Reedfur.
WHITESTORMAssessment: His prefix fits him, but -storm is better for a wild and unpredictable cat. Whitestorm is notably calm and collected - in fact, that's one of his defining features.
Renamed: Whitecloud.
LONGTAILAssessment: HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A LONG TAIL! HE'S A REGULAR-TAIL. JESUS.
Renamed: Silverstripe, or Breamstripe.
RUNNINGWINDAssessment: His name basically means "Fast" and "Fast". Plus, why would you give a cat a suffix that's the same as the name of a Clan? That's offensive, to say the least.
Also, because I'm sure none of you know because they never mention it in the books, he's a light brown tabby. His entire characterization revolves around him being speedy.
Renamed: Adderfoot, or Larkfoot.
MOUSEFURAssessment: The only issue with her name is that she's described as a dusky brown. Mouse- fits better on a medium or grey-brown cat.
Renamed: Beetlefur, or Ratfur.
SMALLEARAssessment: Why would you name a cat for their ears, if they're in good shape? That doesn't make any sense.
Renamed: Squirrelpelt, or Stonepelt.
Obviously, there aren't a whole lot of cats in ThunderClan who need different names. This
is the book where traditionalism came from.
