What do you like and dislike about the Desolation of Smaug/the Hobbit movies in all?
I'm not really sure if I liked how they portrayed the ring in The Hobbit. In the book, the ring isn't evil, but I think they were trying to tie it in with the main LOTR series, where it is evil.
I don't like that people are saying Bilbo is a "brutal murderer" because he killed that one creature "for the ring."
I think that's an extreme thing to say. Maybe he did kill it "for the ring," and if he did, honestly, good for him!!!
-He has no experience with fighting, he's going on a dangerous journey, and he finds something that can turn him invisible. Don't you think that can save his life?? It already has multiple times, and it helped him save the dwarves.
-He got it in an honest way. He didn't know it belonged to anyone when he picked it up, and when he realized it did, it would have endangered his life to give it back. What if Gollum put it on and killed him?? He even spared Gollum's life.
-He didn't know it was evil when he got it. And since it's powerful, it will influence whoever has it, and it's not the person's fault.
-Just because that spider/centipede thing didn't come at him like the others, it doesn't mean it won't, and that it isn't dangerous. He was just being attacked by spiders that were dangerous, so how do you know who to trust in that forest??
-What if one of the spiders, or some type of villain, did get ahold of the ring??? You wouldn't want to be attacked by an invisible villain, would you???
-So, I think killing it was the best option. It would be stupid to just leave the ring, because someone or something dangerous could get ahold of it, turn invisible, and attack. It would be stupid to walk past the creature and put your back to it to pick up the ring, because it could attack you from behind.
Just give him a break. Seriously, people.
