Well, the way I see it is that Gale was there first. He and Katniss had something until Peeta butted in with his girly pansy bakery-ness, dopily trotting at Katniss's heels like some sort of deranged, lovesick dog. I mean, imagine the whole thing from Gale's perspective; the girl you love is thrown in to her death in an arena with some other random guy, and he has to see their whole relationship unfold on a TELEVISION! it's awful!
Plus he's just cooler. I mean REALLY. Peeta is blonde, works in a bakery, and is dopily in love with Katniss. Gale has dark hair, can hunt and set traps, and has been best friends with her since childhood.
AND HOW COULD YOU BE HAPPY PRIM DIED?!!? that was so sad!
(just keep in mind these are just my opinions and I mean nothing against you all that matters is that we all love the Hunger Games, right?)

I have to agree with you there, wolfy, I HATED that finnick died! why did they have to ruin finnick and annie's happy ending?!? why couldn't SOMEONE live happily ever after?!?
I'm thoroughly convinced Suzanne Collins had a room full of monkeys throw darts to decide which characters were going to die, because it just seemed so POINTLESS to have finnick die! prim, too!
