Personally, I think it was the worst book I ever read. I hated the main characters, it was hard to get invested, and some of the scenes made me uncomfortable. :?

I DESPISE this book. I had to read it for school and write A SUMMARY, 5 SPELLING WORDS FROM IT, AND 3 QUESTIONS FROM IT, EVERY DAMN WEEK.
I didn't do any of those worksheets, though i tried.
This book is unbearable, the plot is nonexistent, and it was just so dumb. Not the good type of dumb, the terrible type of dumb.

there are not many books that i have absolutely refused to finish: only 2, in fact.
the first is zoo, by james patterson simply because i do not like his style whatsoever
& the grapes of wrath by John Steinbeck
I will take 1984. I will take Handmaid's Tale. I will take Huckleberry flippin' Finn
      but I will not.
      Finish.
      The grapes of Wrath.

Definitely never ever bother. Grapes of Wrath was drier than the entire dust bowl. I went into it thinking that it would be a fascinating look into history. Nope. It was boring, the themes of the book were poorly conveyed, and the ending was completely baffling. I hated almost every second of that book

I had to read it all the way through for a class, thankfully I don't really remember it.

Steinbeck is an acquired taste for sure. And one of my personal favorites. GoR is not my ‘favorite’ but tolerable. I’d definitely re-read it before re-reading the hunger games, or twilight. Both of which I can not stand.

.. and I am not one of those I hate all YA books, because, yes, there are some good ones. Just not these particular two. I absolute hate the Katniss character. I can not think of a more ‘perfect’ Mary-sue heroine in a dramatic setting/role. And twilight was just plain boring. I finished the series because I was in a reading competition with a cousin. I wouldn’t ever read it again.

i read a book about a cat,i forgot it's name but i read it an it was horrible. I was expecting a nice book about a farm cat but it's more of facts and war. and i was unsatisfied all the way.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding.

I've never read grapes of wrath, although Steinbeck's of mice and men is actually pretty good to me. I'd definitely recommend it and its quite a short read.

As for a book I hate, the house on mango street.
Just not my cup of tea.

Yes. Just reading this post actually gave me the shivers. It's been years since I've read this book, but even the very mention of its name takes me back to English lessons at school. The entire class would always leave the room just a little bit more traumatized than when they went in lol

I was way too young to be introduced to that world when the book was the subject of a whole exam somewhere in middle school. You can probably imagine how much I just loved analyzing that absolute nightmare, and I can still vividly remember ranting to a friend about how William Golding must have been a sick, sick man. : ' D
