It's worth noting that most of the herbs the medicine cats use are actually toxic to cats. Food for thought.
Medicine cats may have special abilities with herbs, but it takes months/years of worth to get even up to par. Not to mention that comes with sacrificing literally everything else.

If medicine cats used herbs that weren't toxic, would there be a limited choice or would there still be a decent amount to heal with?

Well, truthfully, as cats are solely carnivores, I doubt there are really any medicines that would be useable for them. The majority of herbal treatments in the books either don't actually have a use like that (cobwebs for covering wounds wouldn't stop anything) or are straight up toxic for cats.
Honestly, I think a medicine cat's actual role would be to help keep wounds clean and decipher which illness a cat has. They would be well aware that plants aren't exactly good for cats, since their predecessors had a lot of trial and error to figure that out.

Hey, that's actually a rather good idea! I do think that battle wounds would be easier for medicine cat, like one is trained to properly clean it and, in the event the wound is badly bleeding and must be stopped, I think they should use prey skin (Preferably lizard, toad or fish) and sap to help it stick instead of cobwebs. Finding out if a cat has an illness would also be a major skill. What would they do if one had a bad illness, though?

See that's the problem I have when i go into the realistic rp forum, no one understands that animals do not use herbs to heal they just use time and it drives me mad when I see a healer rank in the 'realistic' roleplays
Trying to get back into roleplaying, haven't done it for a while. I like roleplaying wolves but they have to be realistic so no alpha beta delta and especially no healer ranks. I like big cats, horses, cats. I like roleplaying warrior cats. I don't play a lot with human characters unless they're shapeshifters or dragon riders.
So if you have a roleplay that needs more members send me a PM.

I agree with both of these ideas! Now let me continue yelling PAKUPAKUPAKU and biting random people....
Also, I made a character named Spottedpelt. She's white with grey and orange spots. She PLAYS IN MUD all the time, so she is almost always dirty--to the point her pelt is even stained.
