      gahh, i don't know if this goes here, but i thought i'd give it a try ;n;

i was just wondering, how would i put words into the columns on this signature without make the bar in the center move?

Due to an excess of questions about coding on a mobile device, I would like to make an FAQ section about this. This will save me the trouble of having to decide which of those questions is spam or not (because honestly, most of them toe the line and make me feel conflicted).

If you code on a mobile device, message me so that I may conduct an interview via PM. I will be asking questions about your process and then posting some form of you answers here on the tutorial. Thanks!

...

Two guides about asking and answering questions have now been added to the front page. In order to make sure that we're all operating on the same rules, everyone is required to read them before posting again.

How to ask a good coding question:
An easy 4-step process

Step 1: Read the tutorial!
If you don’t read the tutorial, then how do you know you aren’t about to make yourself look very silly for asking an already answered question?

      How to search the thread:
      - Read the post labels. (ie: for image issues, find the Image Manipulation post and read the sublabels.)
      - Type ctrl+F and type in a keyword to search the front page for that phrase or word.
      - Use the search box on the top of the page to search the entire thread for your keyword.

Still can’t find it? Are you sure? Alright, then move to step 2.

Step 2: Paste the code in your post when you ask the question.
If you don’t paste the code, then how can we find the problem? If there is no code to paste, then your question probably violates the anti-spam rules.

Step 3: Point out exactly what needs fixing. Tell us if you want an explanation as well!
If you don’t tell us exactly what you want, how can we fix it?

A bad request for help: “I need help with this text.”
      Some good requests for help:
      - “I need help getting the text on the top to line up with the image on the very left, please. No explanation needed, I just want it to stop giving me trouble. Thanks!”
      - “Every time I do a signature the images are all pushed down. Here is the code. [Insert code here.] Could someone explain why this happens?”

Step 4: Thank your helpers!
Fixing code can sometimes take hours! Be sure that your helper gets the recognition that they deserve.

How to be a good coding helper:
An easy checklist of 5 things to remember

1. Did the asker read the tutorial?
If the question is already answered on the front page, do not waste post space by repeating that information. Instead, politely redirect the asker to the post that can help them so that they know for next time. If they read the tutorial and still don't get it, that is when you may offer help.

2. Did the asker follow the guide to asking questions?
If not, politely redirect them to the “How to ask a good coding question” guide so that they know for next time.

3. Is the person you’re helping taking longer to understand than you expected?
No worries, just take your conversation to the PMs so that your extended help session doesn’t spam the thread.

4. Did someone answer a question before you finished typing your own answer?
Sometimes this happens, and it’s best to just let that one person help out. Don’t waste post space if no additional help is needed.

5. Do you feel that someone is spamming or giving insufficient help?
Do NOT post about it. PM a staff member (Falls, Levi, or chrome) and let us deal with it.

    hello hello guys

i wanted this gif to have the background transparent
but just in case i'm too afraid to ask this again, how do you make a gif's background
transparent? i'd like to ask. do you have to make the background transparent every
frame and then have it animated?

it was just a decision that came up in my mind,
while you were ignoring me,
while i was alone in work.

and i think i might go along with it.

Yes, or you could try OIE's transparency tool.

Defaults tutorial shows a variation of how to do this, so yes, technically on the front page.

With the characters skin being transparent, this could be due to how you are erasing the edges. Gifs tend to have 100% colour or no colour, this being shown as example in the following two images:
Image - Image with white background. (its slow because I recorded it instead of redoing the whole gif)
    Image - transparent.
With both shown, it shows that the outline of all colour not on a background is either solid or not.

With the custom cutout, the only other way I can gather on how to do it is the way that I do it, which is going through frame by frame and erasing the parts you don't want, and then having the transparent gif.
There is a tutorial done somewhere by someone who did it in several steps if I remember vaguely. This is incorrect.

I made a comment about this here:
    http://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2167035&p=84503829&hilit=transparent+gif#p84503829
Sharing the pov from my own knowledge.

It is also worth mentioning that you should be careful with drawing and erasing cutouts.
Depending on the format of the gif in the first place, a gif like this:
    Image
Could end up exporting to a gif like this.
    Image
I haven't figured out why this happens yet, and it is not because of any layer modification, so I am wip in this experiment.
I hope this helps explaining stuff.
I am on mobile.

I could use some help with getting my two images in my signature. It keeps kicking the second one down a line, even though I'm putting them in separate columns.
This is what my sig code looks like, if that helps you guys see where I messed up and if I can fix it:
Code: Select all

I've seen some people with seemingly five+ columns (Chromes would be a decent example on what I mean by this), but if I try to place more than two in mine, it kicks it down.... Is there a code sequence I'm missing here?

ETA: Could it be kicking it down because of the borders quotes make???
