a young woman exclaims from behind a book covered
counter. It also sports a cat curled up like a donut.
"You're here to adopt some pets, right?"
You nod; that's what the sign on the door advertised.
"Oh dear. I can't seem to remember where I put them,"
Liddi says. "Just one minute!"
She disappears through a beaded curtain behind the
counter. Was that there before? You're not sure. There
are some loud noises and a hollow thunk.
"Aha!" she says, reappearing suddenly. There's a broad
grin on her face.
"Now, if you'll just step through here..." she disappears
through the curtain, and you figure you'd better follow.
