she never talks. that's the answer you'd hear, if you were asking about streamkit. truth is, she doesn't prefer to talk. her voice has already caused so much harm, and it's been so long. she can't even remember what she used to sound like, when she spoke. it'd take a miracle to get a squeak out of here. everyone thinks she's mute, and she let's them think that. though, she does acknowledge someone's presence, and isn't ignorant. she nods, and smiles, and eats, so she's not sick either. she just prefers not to speak, and that's the end of that matter. she still has a voice, though, so if someone were lucky enough to get it out of her, then they'd have to be really special. but it's possible. she tends to be realistic, and optimism is not an option. why get your hopes up? that being said, she's also very reserved when it comes to social interaction. it's just not for her. she has an aura of sadness to her, which makes cats want to back away, and wonder about her past. she's a spectacle really, and once you know her she can be quite the enigma. like any kit, she has endless energy, but she prefers to use it in different ways than others. most say she's do better as a medicine cat, than a warrior, but she still has half a moon to decide what she wants. still, the thought of starclan intrigues her, for it's something she would never have learned about if she wasn't in the clan. she finds it a bit hard to believe, but she tries her best. sometimes she likes to think that the ones she lost were up there, somewhere. but she knows that they never believed, and so they were gone, forever. she would love to have her dreams plagued by the voices of the clan's ancestors, and so medicine cat seems like the right choice. now, for the interesting stuff. melody was born to two loners, who very much did love her. she had one sister. when she was little, she was sick. her heart was weak. so, her mother and father would fawn over here, while here sister would turn her back, raging with jealousy of all the attention she received. by the time she was two moons old, she was strong enough to get up and walk on her own, and even talk. that's when she started to get close to her sister. suddenly, her sister, stream, forgot about all the attention that she got. they were best friends, for a whole moon, until tragedy struck. one day, when they were playing by a stream, stream fell in, because melody had scared her. stream had been watching the water whoosh past, when melody snuck up behind her. she had mumbled, 'stream' and sent her sister flying into the banks. frantically, melody called for her mother and father, but they never came. she tried saving stream, but her fur got caught on a rock, causing a huge scar, and her sister's death. after that, melody didn't try to go back to her parents. she walked until she collapsed. it was all her fault. a few days later, she found the clan. the leader took pity on her. she only said one word, when he asked her, her name. 'stream'. and so, the leader called her streamkit, the name she chose in honor of her sister. this is just the way some things are. it has been said, that death, is always harder for the survivor. streamkit has to live with her hunch for the rest of her life, almost as if she's carrying the weight of her sister's death.
