I'm starting to notice alot of pets are getting labeled overpriced by people, and than people add it to guides, or just assume that's what it's worth, and than a pet is pushed for way more than it's worth???
Mainly the Faerie Foxes from 2019 Fae Mischeif, but the 2012 Costumed PPS Butteerfly Wolves are a victim of it too?
This
person posted huge trading data of getting Faerie Foxes for around 50C$ 97% of the time, and it was completely ignored, none of the data was added or considered.
And with the costumed 2012 Worms, I personally got the set for 130g each back in 2022 &
this trade most recently of 2/3 of the set.(I have not had trouble finding the Fairy, everyone just wants .5MA for it, and I don't wanna pay that much for a pet that's in such an abundance)
I know another major victim is Ravendog getting put at 9-10nons bcuz everyone was declining 6non offers
UNTIL they got the 8+non offers. If ya'll notice any other pets getting price pushed despite there being an abundance of the pet, add it on. (I mention Raven bcuz it's literally the only ER from 2010, meaning it's the most common of the 2010 SP's, but it's priced higher than most of them)

oof, I could put not only 2 cents to this but 10 cents.
I swear, yes, demand is necessary and a part of trading, but there's somewhere you should draw the line.
it's not normal when 90% of a pet's value is just demand.
the best example is the Raven Dog. less rare than most of the 2011 store pets - otherwise he still wouldn't have the ER tag - and yet people are already starting to ask for 9 Nons+.
but there are so many others that could be brought up, and it's digging the grave for an already dyingly bad economy.
we need to find a way to balance trading again - knock some sense into people who love to push values.

the August pps and the dragoncat pps 100% suffer from this too. they used to be .25 non EACH. what the heck happened to that? cause the rarity did NOT change much. why is a very rare going for more than pets that have been omgsr for YEARS? this makes no sense. demand should NOT make it spike from 3MA to over 10MA.
we can't keep playing capitalism simulator on here with no regulations, it's making the prices become WAY too high and simply unfeasible to actually obtain unless you dedicate all your time to cs.

heavy on the capitalism simulator because what EVEN
I came back from a couple year hiatus from CS to see some pet's demand/values absolutely SKYROCKET
the dragoncat pps is definitely a prime example of this, its a 2014 store pet with a very rare tag and its trading for 1.25-1.5 nons now?? I understand demand but like WOW that was shocking
definitely struggling to get back into the site because its quite difficult to work out trades for most store pets as their values have all greatly increased (which is expected since there are no RRs), but players often expect massive overpay beyond their already heightened values based on demand/rarity which is paining me and draining my coffers
seems like the demand/inflating values cycle is only getting worse though and most players seem to disregard the new rarity guides (i.e Horror's list) despite there being so much trade data to support the establish values for pets so here we are

Heavy on capitalism simulator too.
Dragon cat being 1.25 nons while it's adult littermates that are also very rares and will not move beyond .5 ma is... Certainly something. And the dragoncat being litter exclusive is *not* an excuse. It would be if pps dragoncat was, somehow, at least ER rated. I'm not sure what makes it such high demand either. It's cute, it's pps - right. But it's getting into the very ridiculous and nonsensical range of value.
Raven been a victim of the cycle since a long time. It did get very bad lately indeed.
I can't imagine how trading is at the moment for anything that is more valuable than an old rare for a new CS user. It must be crazy hard. It's already crazy hard for people who either don't do art or offsite.
But well. This won't ever stop if people keep paying those prices and don't refuse to get the pets if it's ascending into nonsensical values.

I dunno if BA are still crazy. I think last i saw OG ones go for a non? 🫠
Literally any lion gets hype demand. I *wish* they'd just make pps lions... NOT end up as rares. 😂
Vincent Van Gogh. Everyone said to him, "You can't be a great painter, you only have one ear." And you know what he said? "I can't hear you."
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

See, this is why I wish we at least had official numbers for how many of each pet there are on the site. I like to think it would go a long way towards slowing skyrocketing prices if people could see that certain pets aren’t actually as scarce as they’re sometimes made out to be (although who knows, it could always go the opposite way and end up making the problem worse.)
I understand why it’ll never happen (I have a vague recollection of Tess and/or Nick stating they wanted the site users to create their own economy, which, fair enough); and it wouldn’t solve the problem entirely as those numbers would include pets that aren’t in circulation (whether they be in locked groups, the pound or inactive accounts), but I feel like it would make it harder for people to take advantage and price gouge if we did have a clearer idea of the numbers.
It’s rough out there for newbies or anyone who doesn’t want to spend a lot on C$.
(also adding to the dragoncat pps discussion – I came back after a four year hiatus and was amazed to see how much it goes for now, I don’t remember it being anywhere near as hard to trade for a few years ago)

I don't have anything of substance to add, I just have to say as a returning player I'm absolutely flabbergasted by the supply and demand issues that have clearly ravaged this site over the last few years?! The data in OP's linked post is very interesting. I just saw a someone offering to pay what would be (if you bought c$ through the actual site vs whatever shady offsite grinding/conversion math people must be doing) $1275 USD of c$ for a pet? Surely this needs to be addressed hahaha.

Well i think the main part of that is when a pet makes it onto the rares list (some store pets are on the rares list, while others arent)
The rares list is not only marked by the pets rarity but also its value. Its important to note that rarity dosent change that often for animals, even if they are deleted. The problem, rarity aside, is that pets go up in value when people stop trading them
Yes, they can be less rare, but there can also be significantly less in circulation, and circulation is what actually makes the value. For example Raven: No one trades Raven, no one. So finding someone willing to trade it, or willing to trade it down even, is extremely rare, making that pets value even more rare then its marked value.
One of the pets im trying to find is joker, who is 2non RR and 2.5 non TD. When looking, i will find a ton of grinners (which im also seeking) but hardly any Jokers. Even though Grinner is OMGSR, its easier to find because there is more in circulation, and less people holding onto them: hince the 2-3ma vs the 2non gap.
Hopefully this helps you understand value a little bit more
